Can't even tell if this is supposed to be a one-off or a series. The last sentence makes it sound like the former but the second sentence makes it sound like the latter.

Oh well. This is all good to me, Saul is the best character in the series.

I want a "monster of the week" type show, where every week he has a kooky client or a wacky case to work on.

Preferably with a laugh track.

Hope it has Bill Burr and Gus. And yeah first thing I thought was prequel = Saul dies.

Or they don't want all of the events from Breaking Bad to exist in the world of this new show. It would be a different feel since I'm sure Saul has changed from what he was before to what he'll be at the end of Breaking Bad.

I still wouldn't have a problem with the final end of Breaking Bad being Saul being the lone survivor and have him end up on the beaches of Florida with all of Walt's money.

I don't trust the shithouse nu-AMC is running so pass.

As an aside, I wonder if there's legitimacy to the rumor that Vince Gilligan has been offered to produce a Netflix show. That'd be awesome.

This is the type of thing that I'm sure is much more compelling on paper than in execution.

Also fuck prequels.

I'll watch it but it sounds like a bad idea,

Hopefully Badger and Pete are in it too. And Combo and Huell! And Wendy! ... ok this could be good

They should rather just give Odenkirk a bunch of money to develop something entirely new.

But failing that, I hope this becomes the new Frasier. I suspect it' s the new Joey.

I think some people here are not excited in that they are expecting some goofy lawyer comedy/drama.

I think they're going to retain the dark humor of Saul's character. Mix in storylines involving Mike/Gus and this could be awesome.

Potential spoiler about Saul's fate in Breaking Bad:
Saul may have one last trick up his sleeve.
Odenkirk: One of the things you think when you watch him, in the fifth season, is that he knows he’s in trouble, so why doesn’t he get the hell out of there. Can’t he figure a way to get away? You’re right to think that he would be thinking that. That’s all I can say.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. Execs seem to love him (head of Fox 21 says Gilligan is number one on his and everyone else's list of talent to poach), seems like the decision would be up to Gilligan.

Much like The Lone Gunmen or shows of that nature, I don't really see a lot of dramatic possibilities for a show like this. Odenkirk is funny in doses on the show, but a vehicle that is completely driven by him just seems destined to be mediocre. I'm sure they'll make it kind of a screwball comedy with dramatic elements, and they'll add new characters, but I don't see how this really ends up adding to the universe in any meaningful way.

I'll watch it, but I'm not expecting to be surprised.

saul is fun but in the dosage we currently get, and i can't muster much enthusiasm for his adventures outside of dealing with walt

Step 1.Get more great comedians to play sleazy drama roles with tinges of humor.
Step 3. Profit.
