I have not played any recent Mario entry since the Wii (i.e. Super Mario Galaxy 2), and I think I want to buy a Nintendo product soon even though no one in my social circle owns the most recent Nintendo products.

Super Mario 3D Land or World?
New Super Mario Bros. 2 or U?
Mario Kart 7 or 8?

What elements do you like/hate in each version (e.g. platforming, level design, rubber band AI, items)?

What makes one version better than the other? (e.g. mobility vs. console)

Wii U basically.

3D Land had short bite sized levels and it was fun. But world is so much prettier, has a better soundtrack, is more difficult, is multiplayer, allows you to play as Luigi, Toad, Peach and another secret character.

NSMBU is the best 2D Mario since Super Mario World. It's challenging and has awesome level design while nsmb2 was
mailed in with a cheap gold coin gimmick.

MK8 isn't out yet but what they are introducing (anti gravity, new characters and items) and the amazing graphics and improved online play (allegedly) make MK7 look archaic.

Console almost always wins over handheld in direct comparison.

Well, Mario Kart 8 isn't out, but it does look to be better than Mario Kart 7, and the New Super Mario Bros games are abominations. But 3D Land felt like the rough draft for 3D World, so yeah.

Well haven't played 8 but impressions seem to agree that it is much better.
