BF Hardline's Creative Dir: 1080p60 on PS4, Xbox One version "should be the same"

Plus Hardline was probably made with the console specs much more in mind than Battlefield 4 which i believe the PC was the focal point and pushing graphics as much as possible was probably the mindset.
i think the 'lesser' graphics, smaller playcounts etc shows that they probably built this game around the next gen consoles.

I doubt xbox one having same as PS4, if they try to bring parity on both without using PS4 hardware to full then its really bad from EA. Also the comment is "should be" so he still don't know about Xbox one final resolution/FPS. He just meant both should be same in generic view.

I didn't know beta was 900p. Boyes clealy said it was 1080p during E3 conference. Did he speak too soon or did EA bullshit Sony? After UFCdemogate, it's hard to take EA words about resolutions seriously

Pixel counters in Beyond3d said beta was 900p at the moment.

Its not too hard to find in console forum..

Devs weren't pushing the PS4 that much harder before, the Kinect was just preventing them from getting the resolution up to parity. They will continue to develop for the lowest common denominator and now games will be hitting similar resolutions. For multiplats we will probably see identical games in most cases.

Eh, I wouldn't say it's just about Kinect. Freeing up some GPU resources certainly won'tt hurt, but the size of the ESRAM can present a significant problem as well. There will be some cases where 32MB gets awfully crowded when you push the resolution higher, so you either need to start cutting back on things or come up with some clever solutions.

Keyword beta. Don't through Boyes under the bus before the game goes gold people.

From what I've seen, the maps are pretty simplistic and bland. That probably keeps performance up. I'd be interested to see how the FPS drops during the collapsing building moments.

I wouldn't say it's useless. A high, stable framerate ensures the game will be responsive, assuming there aren't any weird input lag issues. A native resolution of 1080p means there won't be any of the blur associated with scaling up a lower resolution picture. Those things taken together are a good baseline for any game to start from.
1080p is not native.

Or maybe Hardline's specs is no barrier to the X1's resolution capabilities. As people pointed out, it looks like a BF4 mod, and it's easy to see why. Other than the online players, nothing really points out to why it's that GPU intensive for current-gen.

For multiplats we will probably see identical games in most cases. Everyone wins and exclusives will continue to showcase the strengths of both platforms.

Not sure how the PS4 owners win if their version is being held back. If anyone wins it's the XO owners and MS. I just hope that the effects and AA show the power difference, it would be a shame to see the extra hardware go to waste.

Sometimes there seems to be so much hate in the gaming section if this forum, particularly animosity towards the Xbone and its graphic performance.

So the developer himself says that it should be 1080p/60fps and here comes some of the GAF expert developers at EA with deep inside, calling the Viceral developer a liar and saying he must be "BSing". Are any of you in the development of the game?

Do any of you know how optimize is the engine or the current iteration of the game running on the Xbox One?

The game might end up looking better on PS4 and it's cool to speculate, but why all the hate towards a console, a developer and/or a game if it does end up having parity?

Xbox One IS a great console and so is the PS4. The PS2 was one of the greatest consoles ever made and it was not the most powerful, and neither was the SNES or the PS1. The PS3 did amazing even with a bunch of third party titles that did not have parity to its competition.

As a PS4 owner how exactly do I win if the game is gimped to look the same as a less powerful console? Do PC gamers win if the PC version looks exactly the same regardless of graphics card?

We got gimped 360 games and survived seven years.

Things will be alright.

PS3 and 360 had very different architectures, it really isn't comparable. Plus the power difference wasn't that different. One thing that did cripple the PS3 was it's RAM size. Besides there were plenty of mutliplats that gave the subtle edge to the 360.
This gen there simply can't be an excuse for parity, seeing how the architectures are very similar, yet the power difference is significant.

Good luck to them. Even with full software potential, DDR3 is still limiting. Although the title should be changed to "Battle Hardline AIMS TO Run..." since that is what the article is saying.

because both the developer and the console maker have been caught with their pants down, knee deep in bullshit on several occasions. What have either done to earn your unwavering trust ?

I don't know why people are celebrating parity. I wish all developers were like Kojima, and would throw parity out of the window.

And I straight up refuse to believe that they game is going to be 1080p on either console.

Wait, is the PS4 beta really 900p? I thought it definitely looked sharper than BF4 (I just played them both back-to-back).

Assuming these are near final graphics, I can see it happening. If it looks at least as good as BF4 I call bullshit, Destiny too. Unless they sacrifice a ton of effects and fidelity The box just can't do it at PS4 level without cutting some corners be that frame rate or other things.

Played about ~3 hours Beta yesterday and thought it looked worse than BF4 did, plus it only has 32 Players per game if i remember correct.

To me it says they will kill effects and such to get it there. Devs have taken so much shit for XB1 versions already.

These 1080p Xbox One threads are sad. You're still getting a better looking game on PS4 most of the time the gap has just been reduced. Relax.

This seems as a result of a less demanding than BF4 game, the game is smaller in scope, less ground and air mayhem, heck they could even reduce the map scale, judging by the Beta maps are too big for this kind of game. So don't be fooled, BF4 does more of what this game is doing.

The alpha/beta on ps4 runs at 60fps? Get the fuck outta here!! That shit crawls to single digits at times. When I'm playing and the crane falls, it's like I'm watching a slide show.

Between this thread and the Destiny 1080p thread I need to go make some more popcorn.

I feel like a spectator at the battle of Bull Run. I'll enjoy this war.

lmao. But very accurate. I want this game, I want this game badly, but I am not buying this game until a good portion of Gaf impressions say that it is not broken like Battlefield 4.

According to TB on his twitch yesterday, the tick rate for weapons is lower than what it's supposed to be to as well. Granted it's a beta but you would think they would have the improvements from BF4 in the new BF game.

Yeah, Bayonetta on PS3 really brought the x360 version down to parity.

I would love to know which 360 games he thinks were were gimped.

Seems like it was just the PS3 games ran worse at the same resolutions for the most part. Like I'm playing XCOM EU on PS3 right now (cause it was free) and the performance is terrible compared to the 360 versions of EU and EW.

Visceral, thank you for not using extra resources that PS4 provides. Good job guys. I'm sure everyone will be happy by your decision.
