BF4 PS4 stability patch rolling out right now...and it's still crashing.

Yeah it's weird I've never heard a single person talking on my teams.

sadly it seems like thats how console games are these days. if you aren't in a party chat, you probably aren't hearing anyone talking....... and when I do get someone, it tends to just be background noise, like they dont realize their camera is working as a mic

edit: that being said, anyone want to be ps4 bf4 friends so we can party up? Lol...

I'm "thehoserx" on PSN.

Anyone else notice how much faster updates are coming out on the PS4? Do they not have to go through Sony anymore?

They definitely still have to go through Sony, a developer who worked on Contrast was mentioning it the other day before 1.02 launched for that game.

The process is probably quite fast at the moment as the game's lineup is so small.

Too bad I didn't realize that the previous patch did fuck all and I lost my single player save for the third time. I had already beaten the last mission twice to unlock the two guns but didn't realize you get another gun for not making the final choice. Oh well, guess I won't be getting that gun because fuck playing through that whole campaign again.

I'm really glad they fixed the EMP blur though because I swear it felt like I was getting eye cancer every time that dumb ass effect kicked in. I have little faith they fixed the sound bug though since I think I remember experiencing it in either BC2 or BF1943. Hopefully DICE keeps cranking out the fixes since as much as the game was in shambles upon release, I still had more fun playing it than I did playing the little bit of KZSF I tried, I'm over COD, Blacklight Retribution feels and looks like shit, and 64 player BF with my console homies is pretty much the reason I have a PS4 and did not just stick with my gaming PC until at least Infamous released. Now when the hell is PS4 getting Second Assault? I need more clusterfuck maps like Operation Locker to frustrate and annoy me while having a blast at the same time.

Why are the updates always so damn huge?
I'm pretty sure that's partly cause of Sony. I saw a DCUO dev blame SCE for the size of a DCUO patch and I've noticed on some games (Killzone & DCUO) the patch download sizes are staying very similar to earlier patches so I think SCE's patching system right now only lets devs overwrite their last patch instead of just pushing out patches that only modify updated files.

I don’t understand why I can’t play with my friends unless we group chat from the Playstation Group chat option and then wait for one person to join a game and then....refresh, join, fail, refresh join, fail and then maybe joining (if you’re lucky)!

BF4 is a good game but it should be a great game....

I am sure it will be in time.

Fixed the audio drop outs that could occur when playing on large maps. Typical map affected was Golmud Railway in Conquest with 64 players. Ambient sound would sometimes cut out, like foley sounds from player running, vehicle engine sounds, vehicle movement sounds, and map ambient sounds

This was so weird when it happened the 1 night I played MP. I couldn't hear anything on that one map except for explosions and gunfire.

Uhhh don't hold your breath of that one. I don't know if you've ever played the other Battlefield games but there was always a mess of problems that were never patched properly in just about every Battlefield game to date.

And this being arguably the buggiest in the series, I don't hold out much hope of this game ever being completely functional.

I think the forums said it removed the cause of a quarter of the crashes. So we will still be crashing 75% of the time :(

But glad to see them actually working on it I guess. It's great on the system when it works

Now people are complaining about patch sizes? They download quick and can run in background guys. Come on. Stahp :(.

Next on the list. Let's get voice chat working for squads

BF3 semi-sorta worked at least. You at least could party join a game with 2-players. More? No, never failed you were scattered.

Perhaps their servers are also handling the patch downloads?? Give it a little time to settle down.

The thing is, most people want to play the game NOW, hence why he or she booted up the game. We shouldn't have to "give it time to settle." It's complete bullshit.

A multi-million dollar company is struggling to stabilize a top franchise, and we are supposed to "deal with it."

I didn't want to pay $60 for a broken system-launch game, wait for patches, then wait for the patches to "settle in."

This is one of those instances where I am glad I can trade my games in.

No company on earth can handle server loads. That's how technology is. Doesn't matter if multi million or multi billion. Even Apple crashes when they launch a product. Web traffic filters through the same place for the most part.
He's not telling you to wait and settle with a broken game. He's saying server loads are out of their control when it comes to bandwidth. Maybe it's on the users end.

You have every right to complain. I'm pissed I spent 60$ on a broke game. But you can't blame them for every single problem when it might not even be related to them.

I need a patch that makes me better at this game.

It's called alcohol. Either you drink until you get to a point where you're like the Rain Man of shoot mans or you get fucked up enough where you stop giving a shit about dying and just try to do the stupidest shit like try to kill a chopper with C4.

And I'd prefer if patch sizes got as small as possible, especially when it's not adding new features but fixing broken shit that should not have been in the released game in the first place if it wasn't rushed to market by greedy assholes instead of being properly tested.

I now have a 300GB data limit and have to pay $10 for an additional 50GB if I go over and I use the internet extensively what with Netflix, random downloads, browsing, streaming music, Steam games and updates, and PS3 and PS4 game downloads and updates.

600MB for a patch might not seem like a lot but when it's for really obvious stuff that should have been caught in QA or the game maybe being pushed back until this stuff was corrected I get kinda mad and hope that they can figure out a way to significantly reduce the size of these patches. Chivalry on PC is really bad about this. It seems like every time I log into Steam it or the Chivalry beta want to download a gig or 2.

I've already accepted that's not going to happen with me. Hiding everything behind a level up system while everyone is rolling around with the best stuff and sending 4 tanks and multiple jets and helis at me while I hide in a building wondering what the fuck I'm going to do got old immediately and I only played 1 night. I miss BC2 where the levels were smaller but there were fewer vehicles and less room for people to camp (although it was still a problem in that game). BF4 is just a chaotic mess, which I guess is the selling point for the game.

Well, if the devs and publishers aren't to blame for server load capacity, then who is?

DICE and EA had to know there would be tons of people playing this game, especially since it's a launch game; someone should have prepared the servers.

The only reason I still have this game is because I didn't like Killzone's MP and Call of Duty isn't my cup of tea. I need my shooter-fix, but this is just punishment at this point.

They still need to add a create party/squad option in the menus.

If they don't, I don't buy another BF game. It's as simple as that.

The current system they have is atrocious.

I still get problems. Anyone else have issues joining a conquest match?

Also, it just crashed as of writing this. Sigh.

That's the essence of Battlefield. Finding ways out of those situations are what "Battlefield Moments" are made of.

Has the equivalent patch been released on Xbox One yet? I remember reading about how the rest of the platforms were supposed to have been updated last week, but I never got anything so I assume that was pushed back?

And when you only take out 1 tank before you're blown to smithereens and you still count that as a victory... why I love BF.

It's pretty sad that even vital kit equipment wasn't unlocked from the start. The big medic pack is the tenth unlock of the class for Christ's sake. Really wish games would just drop the entire unlock system bullshit already, especially in games that require a lot of teamwork and special weapons to take out vehicles effectively.

Not yet, last weeks XBO patch got pushed back so they decided to merge it with this weeks update. It's still in certification, but it should be out later this week or next week.

Upcoming Xbox One Game Update
Here's a quick update on the state of the next Xbox One game update. The update that was originally meant to go live the week of Dec 2 was delayed, but we decided to bring those fixes to the next upcoming Xbox One update.

This new combined Xbox One patch is currently in testing and certification, and we will release it as soon as possible. We are hoping to get it live late this week or early next week. We will keep you updated.

We will share the full change notes for this patch as it goes live. It will focus on stability and some of the feedback we’ve seen from the community, including a fix for the one-hit kill bug and Commander EMP blur effect.

.

You want to take a stand, trade it in, thats the best form of protest, flood the market with used copies and take 100,000s of new sales from EA-Dice.

Or, give the servers an hour or two to breath, remember now that there like 1mil ps4s on standby (maybe), the patch is gonna be downloaded in great volume immediately now, versus before when people had to log in after work / school / upon waking up / after they put the kids to sleep etc, spreading out server load.

Wow, for as technically proficient as DICE seem to be, they seem to be equally as inept at getting their shit working right within a reasonable time frame if at all. I bet the server browser is still broken as hell. I still can't search and find a 32 player conquest match as when I select only Conquest as my game type nothing comes back. Hell, when I select Conquest Large, I'm lucky if one or two servers come back. I either have to select multiple filters or just quck join.

So if they can't get something as elementary as a server browser right, I have little faith they will fix some of the more egregious issues with this game like the constant crashes or the inability to create a 5 man squad and join a game. I mean, I'm not a goddamn programmer but how hard is it to allow a user to create a 5 man squad and when they search for games only return results that have 5 or more empty slots on the same fucking team. There you go DICE, that was a freebie, I don't even need a consulting fee or a part of the programmers who couldn't get the squad functionality from BF3 to work right in this game so they came up with the half-assed join on friend squad mechanic which has probably worked once for me since I bought this busted ass game. I seriously wish this game sucked ass so I could just call it wasted money and move on. But when everything works and you get a squad all mic'd up and coordinating on a good team shit is real good.

I wish they'd remove the fade from black when you spawn, especially when you spawn on a squadmate. There's a full second there where you can't see a thing and are completely vulnerable. I've been killed before I could see anything more times than I'd like to admit.
