BF4 PS4 stability patch rolling out right now...and it's still crashing.

Getting in a good squad is key to having a good BF4 experience.

Otherwise, you are gonna be doing a LOT of running. I think there's a thread just for people to add each other to friend lists just for BF4.

Lol fuckin a. I was seriously considering getting the BF4 version on PS4. I already own it on Xbox One, and actually don't have too many crashes. But all my friends are on the PS4 version, and the 900p looks much better than 720p (so many jaggies). But this seems insane. I don't understand why the PS4 version is so broken (crashes every game, crashes at the end of rounds). What is different between the two versions, outside of resolution?

Yea, the weapon loadouts don't have much to do with sucess. It's all about getting into a diverse squad and communication.

EDIT: and I don't get as many errors with the PS4 anymore, but it's still crashing about once every 4 games. Last night it crashed on me when I tried to quit the game. The game had ended and I just wanted out. CRASH.
 
Having just picked a PS4 up, I'm guessing NFS: Rivals is the better choice to spend the pennies from my PSN wallet on if I'm going to choose between the two games?
I actually have BF4 on PC, but I haven't really dug deep into it. Only reason I'd like BF4 on the couch would be the comfy factor and a surround sound setup. From the little I've read about this game on PS4, it sounds just as broken as the PC version was for me when I played it at launch.

I've got about 35 hours on Rivals now and just 100% it. Great game.

I have a gift for selecting the squad mate to spawn on who doesn't have the warning message just as he is about to get shot in their ass and serve as extra body armor. I've gotten so good at this that I have even spawned in and taken a knife for them such is my love for my squaddies. What I've started doing is start moving side to side or running while the screen is black since I figure I'm in the game already but I'm just sitting there and it's much harder to hit a moving target than someone standing still waiting for the image to show up on their screen. It's improved my survivability a little but I just have terrible timing as I'll wait and then decide now is the time to spawn just as a tank shell hits the person I spawn on killing us both. I also have bad luck with enemy spawning. I'll run up to knife someone only for his squad mate to somehow spawn behind me and shoot me out of the knife animation. Or I run past a spawn point, look back to confirm no one is there, turn back around to kill an oblivious enemy only for a whole squad to spawn behind me there and light my ass up.

When you have problems with tanks or helis you just have to switch your class up. Start running engineer and get some rockets so you can take them out. They aren't too hard to destroy. That or play game modes that aren't tank vehicle heavy. Domination and TDM don't have any and rush has less. As said, a good team always helps. Keep switching your squad in game by pressing triangle to get the best group.

But then again maybe it just isn't your cup of tea

I wish there was a bc2 rerelease. 1080p and 60 fps would be awesome. That game is better for consoles.

I would suggest using a USB stick to save progress after each mission. it's not ideal but I used to to get through the SP and get all the assignments done.

i'll go and copy my save over to the PS4 and see if it disappears again.
 
Crashed on my first game. Messed up my headset and made the PS4 menus go in slow-motion. Had to restart the console. :S

That was fixed in the previous patch

Edit: played two rounds so far. First one crashed, second one played through but the muted audio on Golmud Railway is not completely fixed. Also, got stuck at the black loading screen

Rubberbanding fixed yet? Haven't had the chance to play on this patch because of work. Hasn't been the crashes that bothered me the most, it was the fact that firefights were often luck rather than skill when they occurred.

That and using any vehicle during those incidents became a carnival ride.

Mine was d/ling when I updated to FW 1.52 and it installed when the system rebooted. Go to your download section and look at the status. Does it say waiting to install, updated, etc?
 
I wouldn't base the stability of the patch based on a first crash .. is this patch contingent on the PS4 1.52 firmware (is that out yet?).
 
well looks like the game is still a broken mess even after this "stability patch"

I love this game when it works but im not keeping a game that keeps crashing in multiplayer and in the process the single player save deletes itself , so off to the trade in bin it goes :-(

I'll probably pick this up again if they come out with a game of the year edition and its working properly i hope.
 
Why is it I dont hear about these issues as much on the Xbone side of things??

I feel like diced really phoned it in on the PS4 because of apparently how easy it is to get a port up and running. Probably overlooked a lot in optimization.

They probably spent much more time on the Xbone version simply because of the more complicated architecture...correct if im off base with this theory...
 
Finally the audio bugs may be fixed. More annoying to me than the crashes since I use headphones exclusively with BF4 and the audio issues were debilitating at times as if I was playing the game on mute.

Its really sad though that we most likely won't see an easy way to squad up or change loadouts out of game that isn't a tablet/phone app.

Nothing at all in the downloads, it said failed then i booted up BF to see if that did anything. Then went back to downloads and there wasnt any sign of an update, be it failed or updated. It has completely gone.

Strange.

Does anyone know the patch number?
 
I have a question semi on topic. Any reason why I put in the dlc code for china adding. It downloaded. But when I try to join a game it tells me to buy the dlc.

Yeah, I've played maybe 8 rounds of Conquest, and a handful of Team Deathmatches so far, and I haven't crashed once.

...that's not bragging...I did have to DMZ my PS4 to get past a screen that told me I lost connection to the servers, after all.

Well, it primarily crashes in Conquest mode.

Also, are you running your PS4 wired or wireless? I am wired, and I crash far less than some people are reporting.

I'm wired also. Between this and 2k, I am not experiencing crashes like others here at GAF.
