Bieber - "DUI charges are dropped"

Didn't the latest report say he blew less than a .08, meaning it wouldn't have actually been DUI?

ummm didnt the police office lied on his paper work?

how would you feel if the police gve you a dui while you were ober

It's not that uncommon for young people to get charges dropped or lessened when they get in trouble for the first few times.

I know I did.

Why does this ALWAYS apply for anything Florida related?

Let's just go it already, Who's got a big enough saw?

There's a lot of overreacting in this thread considering we don’t know all the details. If the DUI charge is dropped it could be due to insufficient evidence - not because he’s a famous white celebrity. According to CNN Bieber’s blood alcohol content was well below the legal limit (.08 BAC) for impairment. You don’t need a rich lawyer to get your DUI case dismissed if the state doesn’t have proof you were intoxicated. From what I've read Bieber was mostly acting like a jerk, not drunk - and that's what got him into trouble. If you don't cooperate with police they will look for any reason to put cuffs on you.

To be fair though, the problem here isn't "rich people get off free", it's "poor people unable to afford lawyers". If there's some "technicality" - which is basically a way of saying the police fucked up - that means a person is deemed innocent, I don't really think it's unfair or inappropriate that they then get off the charge. What is a problem is that they're the only ones that can afford it, but that's not really their fault.
When there is a wealth barrier for everyone except the highest class to afford lawyers able to discern these technicalities, then saying "rich people get off free" is exactly what happens. You didn't disprove the saying, you just defined why it is true.

All I can think of is his confession was on scene and the lawyer came in and said "There was never a confession, he wasn't arrested and you have no proof he was on drugs or had alcohol in his system."

I thought they desperately wanted to prosecute him because he was being such a little shit and they kept having not enough evidence show up? Enough for a plain old non-rich person, but expensive lawyers and all.

Justin Beiber really needs a good arse kicking.

Somebody needs to beat some sense into him and bring him down to earth.

"Huh"
Very expected. Rich, white and young.

So we've got him vandalising someones home and DUI so far, right? I can't wait to see what he does next :D

This is a good point. Regardless of how expensive your lawyer is, if there's no evidence for intoxication then they cannot charge you. Though, some people in his situation would have probably just caved to police pressure and plea'd out.

Was he ever charged with reckless driving? If so, wonder how that was dropped.

That's the best part! As long as he doesn't seriously injure or kill someone then it'll be hilarious to see his accelerating downward spiral until he's got some reality TV show on TLC or VH1.

cold. and he does seriously injure someone no matter what-- kid has parents and other people who don't want to see him die, belieb it or not.

Eh...we don't know all the details, though that headline about still being charged with resisting arrest is something. Either way, I'm sure he had a top dollar lawyer on it, so it's not altogether shocking.

Has anyone provided substantial proof yet that given someone with Beiber's age/criminal record, he received some kind of special treatment? I'm not really seeing it.

LOL rich people getting away with anything

any average person who drives without a valid license would get their ass ragged by the cops/troopers

Any average person caught driving without a license woud either get taken to jail or released on a notice to appear (NTA) for such a minor violation. Bieber got the worst of it by being taken to jail so I'm not seeing how this was an example of "rich people getting away with anything."

Apparently the rental company he got the lambo from had gps and speed tracking software which conflicted with police reports. Sounds like they had no case beyond the expired license.

Affluenza is such a debilitating condition.

I don't like to take pleasure in others suffering but I certainly won't feel sad when he ODs in a couple years. Just hope it happens before he ends up killing someone driving drunk or on drugs.

I wasn't really trying to disprove anything, I was just saying that people getting off of charges for which there is apparently not enough credible evidence to convict them is not a bad thing. The bad thing is that this isn't extended to all. But that has as much to do with the complex nature of law than anything else.

Can you imagine if a black guy resisted arrest. Throw the book at him!!!!! Fucking rich and famous get off with everything.
