Yep, this is the same for me too... which is why I'm hoping for a miracle from Nintendo with the Wii U & their first party titles. It seems all other companies are lost in terms of what to do.
Sega actually is one I have huge respect for & always have... more so lately because they know what their fans want. With PSO2 they truly rise above as one of the best game developers from Japan, for me.
Holy shit, yes! Totally forgot about that. Although, Sega's pretty much in the same boat as Square Enix. I'm not sure I'd want them to even try considering what their quality has been like lately.
As a side note, releasing all three scenarios for SFIII via PSN/LIVE/Virtual Console would have also been pretty damn nice.
No Jet Set Radio for Wii - the Wiimote was MADE for this, but no smart ideas are for losers right, Sega? Incidentally Sega how are those finances looking?
Could have all been HD Collections that would have did very well, especially since quality JRPGs this generation have been few and far between. Especially for FF, it's totally cash on the floor.
Lack of mega man 9/10 styled jrpgs on wiiware and/or xbla. There may be some, but definitely not enough to satisfy what I was looking for.
FF:TAY was fantastic and really got me in the mood for new snes-esque new jrpgs. Unlike a lot of people, im still a fan of turn based rpgs with random encounters. Hopefully squareenix will satisfy my cravings on wii u and release more classic jrpgs.
I'd have to say the Wii as a platform. When it was announced as the Revolution, I was ready for the amazing motion controlled gaming future. I bought my Wii at a midnight launch day one... and then the love affair pretty much ended.
Sure there's been a few good standouts (my Wii had been off for over 1150 days before I turned it on to play Skyward Sword), but the Wii has been plagued with crappy waggle addon and terrible shovelware. If it had been done right, there was the real possibility of a massive shift of immersive controls. Instead we got the Kinect and Move.
A proper Banjo Kazooie 3 (not saying that Nuts & Bolts is bad...)
Luigi's Mansion 2 (Wii)
A proper Lightsaber game on Wii (maybe Starwars?)
Eight Days
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Sadness (Wii)
Jet Set Radio Wii
Monster Hunter PS3
Starfox, Kid Icarus, and F-Zero Wii
And a lot more...
