Biggest shitstorm of the generation?

I feel like Bethesda got off WAY too lightly for the broken shit they sold. And yet, people will continue to gobble up their messes long into the future.

Biggets shitstorm ?

Nintendo is Doomed
It is not an "omfg huge thread" like the FF1360 or the Bayonetta 2 .... but if you merge EVERY SINGLE THREAD about it it would go to the moon and come back and that is in 100 posts per page. Every singlew week since the Wiimote announcement we have one of those =P

What should have been the biggest shitstorm is a more complicated one.

Probably how we lost a HUGE amount of companies this generation

1. 599 US Dollars

2. More people should have given a shit about Microsoft, Sony, and Valve holding your game libraries hostage and forcing users to accept updated EULAs that waived your right to join class-action lawsuits. Worse than the used-game DRM issue.

For the funniest, most absurd shitstorm, I'd have to go with the broken clock on the ps3 xmb and how long it took to fix.

RROD and PSN Hack

Both of these were huge issues, more so than anything involving particular titles. I mean Microsoft essentially shipped massive amounts of hardware that only worked for a limited time. Sure, they dealt with it in a respectable way (in my experience anyway) but that doesn't excuse such a colossal fuck-up.

From the ones I've witnessed: Bayonetta 2 Wii U exclusive.

599 US dollars set the tone for this entire generation. We could end up saying the same thing about XBONE reveal.

Maybe not the biggest, but pretty crazy and entertaining.

The funny thing is Bayonetta 2 would not be possible without Nintendo, we should be thanking Nintendo.

Mass Effect 3 was my biggest one. I know a lot of people want to say that gamers were acting entitled but they could have literally released any old ending and people would have been content. There was no reason to go into left field with that star child bullshit.

Sony: PSN hacking and late relays of info to the people effected. $600 price point at launch.

Microsoft: RROD and widespread hardware failure, the majority of early adopters eventually got a bricked console.

Nintendo: Horribly barren software for the last two years of it's life, left out to die after huge success.

Judging on GAF alone as far as causing multiple threads of people fighting, I would say on disc DLC (specifically on Street Fighter X Tekken) was one that stands out to me.

Some people have short memories. Nothing has come close to RROD. FF13 on 360 was funny, and PSN outage was awful, but you could still at least play other single player games. RROD was disastrous, I honestly don't know how anyone would trust a launch console from them again.

Three and a bit weeks then, whatever. It was still shit but rrod was an order of magnitude worse.

RROD sucked. but it didn't affect everyone, and not all at once. PSN outage impacted every single PSN user. For almost a month. I think they're about equal.

I am amazed that RRoD didn't ruin MS. Not really sure why we all (myself included) rolled over on that whole debacle.

(2) What should have been the biggest shitstorm of the generation?

Bethesda selling a game that doesnt work, never patching it, getting game of the year awards and this issue being completely ignored by the gaming press.

This is a good choice that really is inexcusable, regardless of how awesome the game is in theory. It was eventually fixed, though, wasn't it?

In 2009 it was reported that 360s had a failure rate of 54%. Those people were never able to play thier consoles again. That is far worse than PSN being down for three weeks. Not saying it wasn't horrible, but c'mon.

1: Biggest one was FFXIII on 360. Well, at least to me it was a big deal. The blow was softened a little after playing the game (and seeing how crap it was), and knowing the PS3 version was superior to the 360's.

2: Paying for online on 360 should've not been acceptable. Fortunately for MS, Sony could not implement cross game chat on PS3 in time, so MS got away with it.

That's been happening pretty consistently since 1985. It's kind of the background noise of gaming now.
