These twats (all internet clout chasers) should just come out with it. This mystic tweet stuff is always so childish "look at me, i know something you don't but im not telling you"
Say that in a child's voice
Ugh, I know and annoying and I hate defending it...
But...
I worked a few jobs with similar kind of industries. I worked in the Video Game Industry, college football recruiting reporting, and covered Disney news and reviews. All seperate times but close together, all in journalism / advertising.
The reason, for legitimate people, to be cryptic is, at least sometimes, because it can burn your source / burn you ever getting info again.
I've said on GAF before, but unless something has changed drastically in the decade I have been out if the industry, the gaming industry itself is not at all tight lipped lol. People talk at events, conferences etc. If you work in the industry and interact with people, you can get plenty of scoops. The problem is you are a dick head if you burn someone / will eat your trust up in a very click-ish community.
Just a bit of nuance to add some context as to why this happens. Fwiw.
