Billy Mays Snorted Coke Days Before He Died

Unexpected? I suppose. But then again everything now makes sense. The obscenely over-enthusiastic personality and early death are now explained.

Oh my. You are totally correct. One aspect of a person's life explains why they do everything that they do.

It's amazing how ignorant people are about drugs. For some they look like this distant forbidden thing they know shit about but feel comfortable blaming everything on it.

That's too bad, he probably would have lived longer. However, I certainly don't have a different opinion of him then I did before I found this out.

I was looking for pictures of Vince Offer in google, and for some reason, this came up:

Who gives a shit? This is why I fucking hate all this celebrity gossip shit. Even in death the media tarnishes the memories of these people.

all people don't become saints once they die.

That's like saying the hamburgers he ate the years leading to his heart attack played a role in his death. Or the bacon he had for breakfast caused his heart disease. People are just looking for a way to rag on cocaine. I hope the media is sued for libel.

What the fuck with all the reactions in the thread to the effect of "noo, it can't be. I don't believe Billy was doing coke!"

how many people in this thread knew the guy personally? You see him on TV all day long so that makes you an expert on his life? Fuck.

Official documents show the following drugs were in Mays' system -- hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (painkiller), alprazolam (Xanax), nordiazepam (Valium), benzoylecgonine (byproduct of cocaine) and temazepam (anti-anxiety). Ethanol -- alcohol -- was also in Mays' system.

Wow. Rock on, Billy!

And people blame the coke. It's just another death of too many drugs, not too much of one.

Being serious for a second.

I too take issue with making a news item out of this. I would have given the autopsy information to the widow privately and then she could have determined whether the American public gets to know. Just because he did commercials - commercials where he played a character, no less, offering us zero insight into his actual personality - this somehow entitles the entire world to know what his personal, private vices were? Why is that acceptable at all? It's a heinous invasion of privacy, I feel. I don't want any damn fool to know what I do in the privacy of my own home, much less the entire national news media.

P.S. This may be uneducated but I'm gonna go ahead and guess that saying cocaine *caused* his death is a massive stretch of a minor correlation, especially with all the other shit in his system.

I would say that the revelation that your death was caused by mixing too many drugs is far from disgraceful. It can happen to any casual drug user and his sudden death serves as a reminder to everyone. The public will not remember him as some heinous addict but a person who seemed to have a pleasant life that was cut terribly short by what most of us view as a safe roll of the die. In the end the lesson his death teaches outweighs the stigma and condescension that the assholes will apply.

I think it's a stretch to turn it into a national lesson. That's a nice ideal that would justify disclosing the cause of death, but honestly, give it two weeks, wham, all anybody remembers is "yeah he died from cocaine, that dumb druggie" because that's all they saw when they skimmed the headline. It's an issue compounded by fuckers like FOX News, who've got that big "MAYS: COCAINE" shit in huge letters on the front page, which is beyond intellectually deceptive.

Clearly the person who sold him the coke offered him heart medicine for free with $60 shipping, or whatever the scam is, and he declined.

Buy the Coke-O-Matic . . . magically grinds the coke to a fine powder and allows you to cut in what ever filler you put in the filler compartment. Guaranteed to improve you profits by 25%. Just 3 easy payments of $39.95. But wait, that's not all! Get this silver coke spoon as our bonus!

Holy shit, no wonder the guy died. Oxycodone is dangerous on it's own, but combined with Vicodin? Wow.

If he really was taking cocaine all of these years to perk up, he wouldn't have been so fat.

Wait....so a dude that infomercials did coke and this is shocking? Have you ever...ever in your life known a salesman? Do you have any idea what salesmen are like?

They are usually pretty big dirtbags. I mean...WTF people...get out more.

Yeah, I don't get why people are so blown away.

Hey I guess we don't all do drugs. Suprise?

Can they tell if it is actually cocaine, or just chemicals with similar properties? Because some prescription pain killers are only a couple molecules away from being things like heroine and methamphetamines.

Remember, he was due to have hip surgery the day he died (as it relates to at least some of the pain meds, obviously not the coke :P)

I made a joke tribute video to see if anyone took the bait, around when he died. Complete with a horrible, schlocky song.

I still have the video sitting around without sound added.

Somebody tell me a new song to use for a revision of the video following this news. One of those "I'm getting FUCKED UP" sort of hip-hop songs, maybe. Or CREAM by the Wu-Tang Clan or something.

So, since the first video was made under the pretense that I was an evangelical right-wing "God bless America" ignorant fool, I decided to make the follow-up video from that guy's mindset. And what would he think of cocaine being in Billy Mays' system at the time of death? He'd think it was the end of the fucking world.

Warning: this is in obvious bad taste, which is probably why I had so much fun making it.

How is that libel? The autopsy report says it.
