BioShock and BioShock 2 Remastered PC Fixes Coming

We’re looking to address:

General Mouse Fixes, including better Mouse Smoothing, Sensitivity and Acceleration Options in BioShock;
Additional Speaker Mode Options in Audio Settings in BioShock;
Improved FoV Slider Options in BioShock, BioShock 2 and Minerva’s Den;
Support for 21:9 display ratios in BioShock, BioShock 2 and Minerva’s Den;
General stability improvement to reduce instances of game crashes.

Let's hope the audio mixing issues are also on their plate.

I have both installed, but haven't played yet. Was hoping they'd fix some of the issues and make it a better PC port.

21:9 support is a welcome update for sure. Also, more graphical options are good.

For consoles as well. The audio is all jacked up in the PS4 version. Sounds that should sound distant are as if they're two feet away.

Yeah, that's a common complaint for the PC version as well. You can sometimes hear enemies in far away rooms. It's kinda weird.

Wow this is unexpected and exciting news. I'm really glad and thankful for any fix these remasters can get since they were basically free for us pc users anyway.

21:9 support is always good, but glad to see they didn't just plop it out for free with no intention to support it. Still, it shouldn't have had some of these issues in the first place

any word of AF fixes for PS4?

Doubt they will mention those in the Steam Community. I'd guess any console updates still need certification at this point anyway.

Good. Until then it's a waste of time trying to play these games. Crashes are completely random. Had them even while saving

FOV slider and 21:9 support? Maybe it's time to finally play Bio2/Minerva's Den.

Fairly simple ini edits already allowed those for both the rerelease and the original version of the game, though. Hell in the rerelease of Bio2 they left the console in the game so all you have to do is press tab and type "setfov 90" and boom, wider fov.

What people should really be asking about is the plethora of missing DX10 effects that plauge both releases. It's pretty inexcusable that a 2016 rerelease is at best a side step in fidelity.

The horrendous audio quality, AF, and texture bugs are a bare minimum for me to jump in on PS4.

Hopefully they can restore some lighting and and water effects to the way they were originally too. That weak ass water in the remaster gets under my skin.

I was playing in my living room on my Steamlink and it was running great for the first level. I was actually shocked people were having problems.

For stuttering it's probably the infamous UE3 stutter, which happens due to the game streaming assets into game while playing. For a possible solution try opening up Bioshock(2)SP.ini and changing the TextureStreamingMemoryLimit to your video card's max VRAM.

Or it could be vsync related. Have you tried disabling ingame vsync and using your control panel + RTSS instead?

Which version of Bioshock 2 is the best on PC?

I've never played it, but really want to.

Original at the moment. The rerelease has terrible crashing issues and is at best a sidestep visually due to all the missing effects.

Luckily, if you buy Bio2R you get the og version for free.

Thanks! Was hoping at least one half of this collection wasn't a waste of resources. Guess not. :-(

The stuttering animations make me CRAZY. Just try to reload any weapon, it's like the animations are missing frames at the very end.

It's bloody needed too, it's literally unplayable right now as it crashes all the time for me.

This should've been in from a get-go. I find it ridiculous when a game of 9 yo "remastered" version requires some patches.

Game crashed on me last night, and I lost 4 hours. PS4 version here.
The audio mixing is the worst I've ever heard in a game. So I don't know what to do. Wait for a patch that might never come. Or try and get a refund.
