Bioshock PC demo -- tonight at 7pm EST!!

Are subtitles out of sync for everyone else?

It runs great on my modest rig, always above 30fps with all bells and whistles turned on, much better than expected considering all the shoddy ports we get lately. Specs are FX-55@3.4 ghz, 2gb of "elcheapo" ram, x1950xt 512mb. My old single-core amd it's showing its age now, but it has served me well for the last 2 years.

I'm ashamed to admit I played the demo with the 360 pad and prefer it to keyb/mouse though.

3,6ghz aint that high, i've seen lots of people hit 4,0ghz on air.

aye with the newer chips and the newer steppings especially g0, mines a 1year+ old L626 though.

I'm downloading between 1.5-2MB at filefront with FiOS. I love FiOS, so much that I'm willing to spell it with a lowercase "i".

Finally got to play Bioshock!

Ran great on a AMD 5000+(x2), 7900GTX (512) with 2gigs of ram.

Cranked it up to 1280x1024 and added 8x forced AA among with everything else that said "decreases performance", looks great.

Can't wait to get the whole thing. :)

sounds not working for some reason but besides that it looks and plays(with the xbox pad) like the 360 versions, identical besides being able to play it at highier res.

Meh, this game is not for me :/

I'm probably gonna get hated for this but wth.

I hate the art style, i hate the blood sprites, i hate the water, yes you heard me, i hate the water, apart from some rare occasions (like when its dropping from the stairs, it looks pretty fucking good there) it looks bad..., the weapons have a "clunky" feel to it, i hate all the stolen ideas from LOST (it was dejavu all over the demo oO) and the graphics for some reason didn't impress me at all, apart from the occasional slick shader use.

What i did like about it however was the immersion/ambience , but that only lasted about 5 minutes, and the cool stuff you can do with the Plasmas (or whatever they're called).

I agree with you, maybe I had too high expectations for this game (you can blame GAF for that) but it didn't live up to what it's been hyped to for me. It's still a good enough game for me to spend my money on it, but I didn't find it much better than something like, for example, Prey.

knowing how good it looks on 360, this game just took a shit on my computer. :lol :lol

ye still using the stock gpu cooler, its probably the best one ever made imo and will clock even further than that but the gains are minimal so i clocked it back a little, got rivatuner applying both the overclock and 100% fan speed only when its in game, even at full speed its fairly quiet especially with headphones on :)

cpu im using a sycthe infinity which is ok although i wouldnt recommend one now, but ive been running this setup bar the graphics card for over a year now so the cooler is a little out of date, i was actually just looking at the ultima 90 review on anand think i might purchase one when they release here.

How do you know what calculations to use when changing the GPU Core Clock and Memory speeds?

:lol

I have to know the specs of your system, if it's anything comparable to my old computer I might try the game on that.

BioShock PC Demo-Multi5-PLAYABLE from alt.binaries.games has CRC failures in the interior files on decompress, so don't get that one.
it works fine as long as you don't use the PARs which will fuck up the rars

all hail ATI!!

I can't bind 'R' to anything

Which is awesome, since I use WERD for movement, not WASD

It was bound to Reload initially, and I changed that... but I still can't bind it. W T F

Anyone else having this issue? Any idea where it's storing its config files? I found the default ini, but I can't find the one that's storing user changed variables.

So retarded.

PC demo rekindled my hype for this game, the atmosphere is great and with the proper fps and control it felt 'right' again. I could never get over the clunkyness of the 360 version and was afraid that the PC version would feel the same.

Plasmid are awsome and design is even better. Kind of hard to understand the hype it's been getting as a pc gamer though, those reviews everybody keeps posting should make this the best game ever which it's not. Just an extremely well made fps with some excellent design, fun ai and deus ex/thief gameplay.

Guess I'll pick up the Steam version anyway, well worth a playthrough or two.

Exactly the result on my machine. Also, it wouldn't show my mouse pointer in the menus, so it was hell even getting it set to 1280x1024 and starting the damn thing. It ran 30-60FPS though!

Athlon XP 2800+
Radeon 9800XT 512MB
1GB PC3200 DDR

ConfigINI.IBF, almost at the bottom there's stuff like "A=StrafeLeft, B=, C=Duck, D=StrafeRight" etc. There's a loooooooooot of stuff there though so I have no god damn clue how to change it properly, but I'd guess it's just to change it wherever the other "StrafeLeft" stuff it and then start it up and bind reload to something else.

That... didn't exactly work. Modifying the fields caused Bioshock to crash on launch.

Holy shit...it actually runs really well.

Near constant 60fps, never dipped below 40 or so at 1280x800 (widescreen monitor).

AMD 64 x2 6000+, 2GB DDR2, x1900xt 512mb, running on Vista.

Definitely glad I decided to go with the PC version now. I can get decent rates at 1680x1050 (almost always above 30), but i loooove that 60fps gameplay. Especially on a PC.

Didn't notice too much difference. I'll do a head to head comparison later, with each running at the same resolution to see if I can spot any other different details (my 360 and PC run on the same monitor, so it should be easy to do).

The demo just blue screened on me
at the part where you inject yourself.
When it was working, it ran great. The resolution was set to 1900x1200 with everything maxed.

Vista Ultimate
Nvida 163.44 drivers
e6300
2GB ram
880GTX
Gateway FPD2485W 24"

I'll try the demo again later tonight after the Bears/Colts game.
