Am I the only one who has no idea what "GAF Gold" means?

It's a long running joke on the forum NeoGAF about there being a higher tier of membership than merely being a member, with this higher tier referred to as GAF gold. It doesn't exist, so nobody ever gets to it.
Of of the admins there, Bishop, has the Samuel L Jackson pic there as his avatar and he's done some pretty hilarious bans in the past, so that's what that refers to.

Well there was that one time some guy faked he had a girlfriend who was missing and that her friend that was with her was found dead.

The default subreddits like r/funny and r/atheism pretty much ruin the site. The first thing I did after making an account was unsubscribing from the defaults. There are some great subreddits that make the site worthwhile, imo.

i remember something about adverts getting more coverage/diggs, and then suddenly half the community moved to reddit

reddit looked like an unpolished pos so i kept visiting digg for news, but the quality took a huge nosedive because the community just wasn't there, so i ended up trying out reddit for a while and its pretty good

I can! The frontend got completely fucked up in a redesign and the algorithm got changed to some high concept personal sharing bullshit to deter people like Mr. Baby Man owning the top spot every day. Adverts were definitely a sign of things to come though.
