S3E5 Men on Fire thoughts and question....
The theme was right up my street. Kinda reminded me of Spec Ops The Line. I just didn't understand the ending?! Can someone explain what happened after he returned home?

I thiink the reason why everyone's down on NoseDive is
because one of the biggest concerns was whether the move to Netflix would de-fang the episodes, and that is exactly what you'd imagine a Black Mirror lite Hollywood treatment to be like.

Hated in the nation.... wow

Someone was saying the pacing was off but I loved how they let it breathe. Definitely my second favorite episode this season. What a fantastic season by the way. I think there were 4 amazing episode, 1 ok episode, and one meh episode

Even though I didn't like it as much I will say nosedive is the scarrest one of the bunch in terms of being realistic, especially as someone who doesn't use social media as much and can see how parts of society are slowly inching towards that place.

I think hated in the nation had the most impact in terms of addressing multiple issues our society is currently dealing with.

Hated in the Nation went on for too long and had a ridiculous premise to begin with, but it was definitely unsettling.

Regarding your Men Against Fire question,
I think he accepted them redoing the Mass implant, and it was probably just a dream, since that was the woman that they were using in his other dreams. It gave me major 15 Million Merits vibes in that I was disappointed in the character's choice, even if I can understand why they made it.

The psychiatrist guy in the white room gave him two options: 1) either reset his brain implant and forget everything that happened, or 2) rot in a jail cell with his murders playing on repeat. That ending scene revealed he apparently agreed to have his brain implant reset - he goes home to a beautiful house and his girlfriend waiting for him but it's just an illusion created by his brain implant, the house is actually run-down and abandoned with graffiti on it.

Playtest
Holy shit..........
At first when they dragged him from the room I thought the rest was going to be fake, like inception. Surprised it was actually inception from the entire beginning...

The guy was so annoying though

Wow episode 2 turned out more fucked up than I was prepared for. I loved it.

While I thoroughly enjoyed Playtest and Shut up and Dance, both were reminiscent of movies. Playtest was like
Inception but with a horror angle
and Shut up and dance was like
the recent movie Nerve but of course without any of the Hollywood elements and alot more grim and serious

When he went home after "escaping" the experiment, I thought the episode was going to end with him walking in on his mom committing suicide by hanging. I think he even mentions her swinging from a beam or something before he kindly opens the door.

Shut Up and Dance

We don't know for sure
if he really did kill that guy in the woods.

He's obviously
bloody and how the hell that scrawny kid got the best of that guy (implied) we don't know if he stopped short of killing him or maybe even the other guy couldn't fully go through with it. Technically it would be self defense for the kid too if the video is released and can corroborate him being attacked first after trying to commit suicide.

He had the gun and gun butted him in the temple as he fell on him plus other pedo was pissed up on vodka. Thats what i'd do.

So I can see it. I'd FUCK HIM UP NO PEDO THO.

Episode 4 is fantastic! Definitely the stand out episode for what a bigger budget can do.

Jeez dude spoiler shit.

edit: Cheers for doing it.

Shut Up and Dance:
I mean, either way it does not really matter; the child pornography, assault (assuming he's not dead, because if he is then the questions's not even particularly relevant since those blackmailing him are unlikely to release the video of the final confrontation) and bank robbery with a weapon would surely be enough to result in a very long and uncomfortable prison stint anyway. The implication is pretty clearly that he killed him, but the position he's in is not really that improved if he didn't.

Finally caught up with Season 1 and 2. I can't believe I hadn't watched it before. This has been some of the best and most impactful sci-fi I've enjoyed in a while. Can't wait to start Season 3 tonight

Make sure you see White Christmass, absolute classic.

Episode 3.

Holy shit, that got really dark. I did not see the pedo angle coming, great episode, this show is so dark and I love it for it.

So the dude from GOT wasn't a pedophile? Or was the prostitute under age, he said he was looking to fuck some 20-something, it seems that everyone who got caught up in the whole thing was a pedophile?

About halfway through Episode 1 (Nosedive) (barely had any time these past few days)... and I quite like it. Definitely not as terrible to me as some are making it out to be, though the premise is a tad bit too far-fetched.

Yeah, Netflix includes it as a S2 episode

And yes, it was fantastic. 15MM is my favorite, with White Christmas as a close second

Awesome! Enjoy season 3. I only have two episodes left. Episode 5 sounds like it'll be what I enjoy least, and it's up next.

4 has been my favourite so far.

Bronn was guilty of attempting to solicit a 20 something prostitute. Only Kenny and the man in the woods are implied to have looked at child pornography. The female CEO is outed for sending racist emails and what the black guy does is left to be ambigious outside of getting labelled as a "pervert" by his wife in the closing montage.

No he wasn't a pedophile. That's the reason he got off lighter than Kenny with the anon.

Yeah I guess they wanted the pedos to fight each other since they were caught doing the worst things, which is why the CEO, black messenger dude, and Bronn got off pretty easily in comparison.

Ah ok, thanks. I thought the whole thing was supposed to be centered around a group getting back at pedophiles. I totally missed the email bit in the show. The episode will stick with me for a time, really good, and horrible at the same time.

Regarding Nosedive
It seems that some of the complaints was that the people and acting felt too fake.

Wasn't that the entire point? Of course it felt fake; everyone had their fake happy friendly facades on so they wouldnt impact their ratings
