Black Ops2 WiiU the preferred console experience? "Jim Sterling"

I love how he says its the preferred experience because of marginal comfort improvements then lists crucial things like online infrastructure and online population being worse, amongst other shortcomings.

i like how people with poor reading comprehension cherry pick random details and then twist them to prove their point

You can play this without the TV, right?
That makes it the preferred console experience in both single and multi-player. In all aspects but framerate in certain single-player portions, it is identical to the other versions, and on the Wii U pad screen you get the fullblown portable COD experience without having to buy an additional game console and inferior port.

How about you try proving me wrong?

I wonder how many critics on GAF have actually played the game on WiiU. I have played on both Xbox and WiiU and there are definitely performance hits on the WiiU on single player but I feel that the WiiU version has brighter colors and does look sharper in some parts I have played. The framerate issues are definitely there in campaign mode however, and is apparent right from the get go in the story. Multiplayer looks and runs awesome. But while this version performs worse in Campaign, I like the features it adds to the game (mostly off-tv play for me and that I have not had any douchebaggary online) and to be honest, the worst part of the game is that people only play Team deathmatch and alot of the game modes are barren. I would say if you have all 3 systems go with Xbox as the game was made on that system first and ported to all others. But that doesn't mean the WiiU port is as bad as people are making it out to be... Its solid and offers features the other versions do not.

do the other versions of black ops 2 allow you to play on the gamepad while watching tv or doing something else? do they allow multiple people to play on separate screens? did you even read the article which explained why he liked it better?
I read this article, yes. That's the preference of the author and he's not an evangelist. Sitting on a toilet , watching tv at the same time and less assholes online might be the optimal wii user experience, but for a cod gamer it's absolutely isn't. Number of players and good performance are more important than all those hardware features.

There's sharper textures and better lighting in Multiplayer.
So much delusion in this thread, jesus.

What about decent controls?

The PC port doesn't suck eggs this time, so I'm surprised Jim didn't advocate for it. Seems like there are ton of good game types that don't have a large enough community for pick up and play on the Wii U. Like the sexcellent Gun Game.

The biggest complaint people have had with this version is its performance, with reports of framerate inconsistencies getting in the way of the action. In my time spent in the game, I'm yet to encounter anything as egregious as some have reported. Aside from one or two brief hiccups in the solo campaign, I've found the game running pretty fluidly with no major issues dampening my fun.

the playercount is increasing daily, and most COD players just care about multiplayer, which has no performance issues.

Also, the Wii mote would be the perfect FPS controller if it had an analog stick on it. You can use dual sticks to get players into your view and once you do it's headshots all day with the pointer aiming. I guess you can kind of do this by mapping movement to the digital pad and aiming with the nunchuck. Never tried it.

I love how Nintendo used the Wii U Facebook page to share this article, despite the fact that they are saying that Reggie lied about COD looking dramatically better.

Did he really say "STIFF" analog sticks???

One thing I really don't like about the Wii U's Gamepad are the somewhat loose, non-octagonal analog sticks, which definitely feel like a major downgrade from the excellent stick found on the nunchuck.

I wonder if the Wii U Pro Controller has better ones (haven't tried it yet).

Online has been problem free for me after about 10 hours of play. Lower population count isn't a huge deal unless you're trying to play objective/alternate types. It seems to be growing every FWIW.

Regardless, the game runs/plays fantastically. GamePad screen is a HUGE bonus for Wii U owners and I can't stress that enough.

Anyone who has played both versions or read the lensoftruth and digital foundry comparisons knows your wrong.

In single player campaign where there are performance issues. Thus why Im talking about Multiplayer where their are none. Multiplayer has sharper textures, better lighting and its more colorful.

you actally prefer an octagonal gate on the stick?

seems to defeat much of the point of an analog stick to me. turns it into a giant 8 way dpad.

No. You are delusional.

People can say how great the WiiU version is all they want.

People said the same story about how the games on the Ps2 weren't as great as their competitors, but look where all the sales went to (spoiler alert: ps2).

Nobody is playing Blops2 on the WiiU. Someone can say, "yeah the WiiU is the best version" and that may be true, but at the end of the day, the majority of the gamers who play this game will all say the same thing, "I don't give a shit. All my friends are playing this on Xbox."

A few thoughts, re: the amount of COD players gaming online -

1 - I think it's reasonable to take a wait and see approach on the size of the player base until after Christmas. If it flatlines at 1,500-2,000 (it tops out at about 1,300 now) than it will be fair to say the Wii U COD community won't be very big. At least for BLOPs 2

2 - I think Activision should really be more involved in the Black Ops Miiverse Community. Or try and leverage Wara Wara Plaze to encourage players to connect and play. Wii U has got so many great social features to try and influence behavior.

So much blind wiiu hate in here. Guys it's really good on wiiu.

Pointing out deficiencies is not hate - god I hate that people trot out the "haters" term on game forums.
Stop being so sensitive.
If I didnt like the system and wasnt planning on enjoying it I wouldnt have bought it.

Of course, but whether or not your friends are playing on Xbox isn't necessarily a determining factor for which version is "the best". Sterling likes the controls and second screen implementation, and he enjoys being able to play on the GamePad screen. Those reasons are as good as any to prefer this version over the others.

I don't know why people are getting so bent out of shape over this article.

Of course.

There's still a lot of "lol Nintendo" blind ragging in here. Legit critics and blind console warriors aren't mutually exclusive!

Yes, after experiencing the nunchuck analog stick for years, I have to say, I do prefer an octagonal gate on the stick, but since I only play FPS with the Wiimote/Nunchuck, it's not much of a problem to me.
I could also be that I just had a bad experience with Zombi U (demo version - not sure which demo build) and wished that the analog sticks had an octagonal gate.

Well, seems others get along well with it. As long as there will be an option for pointer aiming, I think I can deal with it.

Thats great, doesnt disprove what Ive and others are saying about the multiplayer.

You have comparison articles from two different websites and a guy who owns both 360 and Wii U versions.
Not a word in either article about the Wii U version being better graphically in either multiplayer or campaign and I dont see it either and yet you still insist the Wii U is better visually.
You wont see the truth under any circumstances.
