This fact actually helps the bars' argument that it's not about skin color, but security reasons. If it were based on racism, wouldn't the bar owners kick out darker skinned Indians too?

It could still be racism, I mean even with dark skin you can still distinguish African from Indians 95% of the time.

Edit: Well I can at least.

It's not all of the clubs.. it's not even most of them.. I was just stating it does happen here at times. I refuse to spin at Harlem because of it... one promoter been trying to get my click down there...

Fuck Club Harlem , that place is trash anyway. And yeah I can count the number of times I've had club issues (from the owners) in Japan on one hand and I've been here for almost 6 years so it's not a big deal here just a thing that happens sometimes.

The thing about Japan is the fact that there are SOME (not all but some) Nigerians in the Shibuya, Shinjuku and Roppongi area that cause problems from time to time. This colors the perception that the local business owners have of black people in general. Which then leads to the "with arm candy only" rule. Now, I'd have no problem with it if I knew it applied to all guys or even all foreigners but so far I've only seen them have issues with single black men.

Blackace said:
uh.. not when it is targeted to blacks and not whites or Japanese...

Ok, that's completely different and definitely discriminatory.

I'll be honest. I try to stay away from that place because whenever I go it's like a goddamn Navy reunion for me with all the sailors that go in there.

Maybe when the boat's away I'll come out to play.

happens in Japan all the time.. try to go to Club Harlem (oh the irony) in Shibuya without a girl
lol the irony, and honestly I find this more surprising than the op. Black people, the most hated people on earth, smh.

Yes my fellow brothers, it seems as though being black is a crime. Even though we were the first people on this planet, are the most entertaining entertainers and are the worlds leading trendsetters (music, style, swag). Hmm...

Racism = Subconscious fear of Black male's swag (Emmett till was a prime example)

Don't leave your girl around me lool

"Positive" stereotyping is still discrimination based on ignorance.

another instance of "should be shocked, but this is sadly nothing new." i dont try to understand it anymore. i just deal with it and try to influence people based on my actions to look past my skin

It's their country and culture. They have the choice to do whatever they want. It's totally fine for none Indians to be not entitled to anything in India.

Now I'm curious how Blackace looks, DJ equipment and all.

He's posted a pic of himself once before. He looks kind of like shaft or the black cop from reno 911 with facial hair

The whole "it's their culture don't put your values on them card"?

There are times when that applies but when it comes to treating your fellow man like crap because they were born black, white or yellow I don't buy it.

Look past your skin??

Yeah, people there want to get whiter while people in the west want to get tanner.

I actually prefer the natural color on girls from South Asia, all those skin whitening products ruin it. It's a beautiful skin tone, wear it proudly.

Id say the racism is geared more towards features rather than skin tone. I mean....Indians are dark too. So are native Americans and even some Southeast asians.

Wow. Imagine if back in the 1960s people said about the US "Its their country and culture. They have the choice to do whatever they want. Its totally fine for non-whites to be not entitled to anything in America."

There is a picture of me somewhere around here... then just photoshop some headphones on it.

In India lighter skin is preferred, darker skin is seen as a negative. It has a long history. India kinda has the whole range from light skinned to dark skinned.

Except the disenfranchised people in 1960s are US citizens, and have been part of the American people for centuries. All citizens should be treated equally.

Unless I am mistaken, I don't believe the blacks refered in the article are Indian citizens. It is up to them to gain the respect of the people of the host country.

I've experienced racism all my life growing up in South Carolina and at 31 years of age I have to ask. Are people of African decent the most hated race on the planet???
This comment is strange. I lived in SC my whole life. I'm black. I haven't had a SINGLE racial problem....EVER!

Maybe I'm just lucky as fuck. Who knows.

Having a working visa should exempt you from being respected? As an immigrate I say shut the fuck up

I was an immigrate too. :/ If people didn't respect me because I am Asian, I really don't have much to say. I frankly don't have time to care. I can either fight for respect or go back to my home country if I am unable to live. Blacks in the 60s don't have a home country that can go back to.

I know. Its seen as a negative. But its not THE negative. I mean the same happens(ed) in black communities.

But the world doesn't collectively hate Southeast Asians, or any other "dark" skinned race that has predominantly common features (i.e. straight hair, thin noses, small lips etc)

Honestly, I've experienced shit akin to this back in America and currently encounter it from time to time in Korea. From anecdotal stories I've heard from other blacks dudes in the military certaintly depicts a widespread sentiment on a global scale. It just seems like with black people they either love us or hate us...

So I'm allowed to troll all non-US citizens then? Gotcha.

The amount of stupid you're spewing is amazing.

Well I don't like being shit on just because I am black.. and I don't really stand for it. If you are ok with being shit on that's cool.. but don't act like it is the right thing that is happening.

Should we do the Charleston in front of them to gain (entry and) their respect?

In fairness, it's their own fault for being too lazy to not be born in the proper country.
