Black Tusk Studios is working on a new, AAA game for Xbox One, Phil Spencer announced during Microsoft's E3 press conference. Spencer showed off a "small glimpse" of the game, which featured a man scaling a building in an espionage-style clip.

Microsoft is investing in five new studios to create next-gen projects, Spencer said, and Black Tusk is one of them. Black Tusk used to be Microsoft Studios Vancouver, and in December the team said it was working on Microsoft's "next big entertainment franchise," or "the next Halo."

Looks alright I guess. Curious to hear more.

They probably shouldn't have shown this if that's all they had. They didn't even have a name and all I got from it is it's some kind of shooter. Somehow I just envisioned it being some sort of stealth game.

CBOAT mentioned a couple of months ago that this game has had a ton of development issues, so the ridiculous little unveil doesn't surprise me at all.

I was expect some gameplay when they mentioned them onstage. I guess those rumors about them being 6 months behind in development were true.

Probably the most exciting first party game so far. The vibe and graphics were right up my alley. A shame it doesn't even have a working title, but it's also good to have some games to look forward to in the long run.

Few second long andnot even remotely real time trailer for a game with no name from a studio who hasn't made a game yet.

No way we can't be excited for this, right?

I can't believe they didn't even give this a name, so we have to keep calling it Black Tusks new IP. Kinda pointless reveal, seems to have been announced to just to put the games announced counter up one more game.

The tower in the teaser is the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. So at least there is an Shanghai level.

looks like it will be a stealth 3rd person from the looks of it.

With some form of implants by the looks of it. Notice his eye after he takes down the guard. Deus Ex inspired?

I think it looks interesting enough, but I am a little disappointed this didn't turn out to be the space based horror title that was rumoured.

I'm happy that it's no horror shooter tbh.

Lots of terrible games were probably referred to as AAA endeavours while in development. I hate using that term before a game's even out and finished.

I was actually really interested in this game at the conference.

I don't know why, but it gave me a vibe of like Splinter Cell (obviously because of the Shanghai level) meets something a bit more sci-fi, due to the weapons being seemingly a bit more futurristic what with LED ammo counters and whatnot.

Definitely one to watch!

Aren't they the studio that showed off a 30 second tech demo at Xbone's E3 event? Never heard of these guys before...

Was formerly Microsoft Studios Vancouver (one of three MS first party studios in Canada), largely made up of ex-EA devs.

They were tasked with making a franchise that would become "the next Halo", so obviously they've been bankrolled to a serious degree.

The 30 second demo was short but intriguing. I do feel this won't be out in 2014 so it doesn't count in the 15 first party XB1 exclusives though.

Was glad it wasn't a horror shooter tbh.

Massively disappointed when the trailer came threw at the presser. should have left it alone completely if all you were showing was a 5 sec barely a teaser for crying out loud. i agree with whats been said here though, looks like a Perfect Dark esque game. kind of hope its 3rd person. Really wanted for one of these studios to be making a 3rd person action game to compete with UC and The last of us.

Noted. Though I definitely think it's an aggressive PR move too, to get people thinking about the game in the same way as a Halo, Uncharted, GTA, etc.

Well they've gone on record to say they want this to compete with Halo and Gears, they want it to be the next big thing. So it's at least going to be on that scale/quality, whether it's a hit though is yet to be seen.

Microsoft registered the domains "TheReponsive.net" and "TheResponsive.org" - I have a gut feeling that this might be the name for Black Tusk's game - but this is just speculation.

I wonder how many more fo these 'big budget' titles they have in the pipeline? Was it 5 new studios, so that's 4 more?

That might be quite funny if it was a Kinect title because of the input lag

Graphically the best looking game in the conference, if that really was in engine like the guy said.

In engine doesn't mean squat, the uncharted cutscenes are in engine, but not realtime, the 'meet the soldier/spy etc' videos are in engine, but not realtime.

1 is Project Spark from Team Dakota. I'd say Black Tusk and Victoria will deliver AAA, Dakota somewhere in the middle, Osaka doing JRPG/Japanese centric game and Lift London doing XBLA stuff.

We know Black Tusk is working a big title, and then we also have confirmation of studios in Victoria and Osaka. We don't know what either of them are working on. After the X1 reveal Phil Spencer mentioned new studios in Redmond, and based on job listings they have a studio there we don't know about yet as far as names and stuff go. So I think they have like 3 new big internal studios based on what we know. Maybe more, there were job listings GAF member TheOddOne found all over the place in a thread a while back.

In the pipeline? Several at least. Coming out next year? Apart from the already announced games, I wouldn't expect more than a few, the schedule is already packed.

Sure, but Spencer said it was running "in-engine on Xbox One" which doesn't necessarily confirm real-time, but it does imply it. Cboat also said the game loks fkuin great so there's that.
