Blizzard Trademarks "Warlords of Draenor" - WoW Expansion
Blizzard just trademarked "Warlords of Draenor" in New Zealand. It was then registered in Australia shortly after.

Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

It's also worth mentioning that warlordsofdraenor.com was registered a month ago.

I do realize that we had a lot of fun times with trademarks in the past (*cough* Dark Below *cough*) but let's just say that on a personal level I'm pretty confident about this one. I'll leave the speculation up to you guys until Blizzcon.

It fits a number of suspicions about the direction of the next expansion that have been floating around and hinted at in game. I think it fits the bill. I wonder if this means a full revamp of the 60-70 experience on top of the new stuff?

Edit: Should I label this as rumour for now? I mean, MMO-Champion is generally reliable, but it's not unknown for them to make mistakes.

A revamp of Outland would be welcome. Can't wait.

Also I can't wait to see how Metzen brings back Illidan.

I do feel obliged to add: I don't trust *anything* as gospel until I actually see it at Blizzcon, of course! I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to deliberately seek to mislead...

Here's an image of the filing:

Milk 2: The Milkening

Not sure if it counts as milking if the game is still one of the best MMOs on the market (if not the best).

And I'm not sure who the "Warlords of Draenor" would be, but I'll just mention that my favorite Warcraft 3 mission was the one where you took Illidan/Kael/Vashj/Akama against Magtheridon and his Fel Orc armies. What an awesome group of characters.

I've been waiting for another space demon xpac for a while. it might make up for the lame panda shit.

do it right blizz and you have my money.

Black Temple was merely a set back. Maiev will be happy. The hunt is back!

Also : Kael back for the 3rd time. This time he is a blood elf made of crystals.

A return to a Burning Crusade style with modern WoW design is a fantastic idea - especially with how damn well Pandaria turned out from an aesthetic and storytelling perspective.

Though I think part of the reason Pandaria was made to work is because they had so much to prove with both a concept people disliked and the disdain for Cataclysm

I don't know. There's not much left on or of Draenor in the game. And who are these Warlords? We killed anyone who was a warlord there already. Warlords of Draenor on Argus? Now that sounds more believable.

The Warlords were created by the elder gods to fight the titans before they bring ruin to Azeroth. The Lich King's son Artherial Chtul will need the help of both the horde and the alliance to stop them.

And this came out yesterday on MMO-Champion. Dude got the title right (if the trademark proves to be true) but who knows about everything else.

Thanks to a very loose-lipped bunch of employees in the Versailles office I can confirm 100% that:

The upcoming expansion is called Warlords of Draenor and will feature Grom as the antagonist, although for legal issues he will be refered to as Grommash. This expansion will see the heavy use of time travel.
Reforging is changing, soon you will no longer need to keep hold of an item to "own" the transmogrification appearance.
The upcoming Blizzcon secret gift is an Elite Tauren Chieftan Hearthstone gift card.
The Dark Below has been registered for 'Titan', not World of Warcraft as is the rumor.

Interesting. This was posted on the MMO Champ forums yesterday:

So he was telling the truth, maybe?

edit: DAMN IT HARRY

They all but confirmed that a legion expansion was coming at the start of the MoP legendary chain. "Warlords of Draenor" is a curious title choice, though.

I recall them saying that in retrospect the 1-60 revamp in Cata might not have been the best use of their time, though, so I don't think we'll get a Cata-level revamp of Outlands with this.

I have absolutely no idea. But I like to imagine them as his extra lives.

haha Fair enough.

Did a quick web search and apparently they're used to siphon the souls of demons when slain by the owner, enhancing the effect of fire spells.

So they could technically hold a soul or parts of one.

Edit:

If they're actually going with time travel and Grom Hellscream is going to be the antagonist(which I find makes zero sense as of now), we better see freaking Broxigar Saurfang.

Interesting that three employees were named in that post before, and the MMOC owner edited them out.

To play devil's advocate here, the domain *was* registered a while ago - it's quite possible that it's just guesswork tagged to one fact. The transmog change fits with something I read recently that was well-recieved when used elsewhere (was it Diablo?).

I cannot for the life of me, though, figure out a reason why a character name - for a long-established character, at that - needs to be changed for legal reasons. Without a good explanation for that, i'm going to find the whole thing sceptical.

A revamp of Outlands wouldn't be as huge as a revamp of both Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. For one, they wouldn't need to redo the whole continent so that you can fly everywhere. Second, Outlands is much smaller both in size, number of zones and quests than a single of these continents, not to mention its only 10 levels rather than 60 levels.

That's the thing that makes me question the post. I'm not sure what kind of legal problems the name Grom would run into. It doesn't make any sense.

While that's true, it's worth noting that a ten-level revamp is a very different kettle of fish from a revamp of the entire Vanilla levelling experience.
