Bloodborne (and Souls) character creators is (are) terrible

Dark Souls 2 funnily enough has a better creator than Bloodborne. Btw there are some skilled poeple, i've seen one that looks exactly like the doll.

BB's is alright. I've made several good looking characters both male and female.

I never use helmets and I'm definitely not the only one. Especially in BB where armor is less useful.

The 'heavy' armors of old hunters and the Cainhurst set were pretty great, IMO.

The character creators are definitely clumsy but I was able to get results I was pretty happy with after enough fiddling around and remaking once I realized they looked weird in some way once I saw them in-game. Definitely not fantastic but far from terrible. As others have said it'd be nice to have different lighting conditions in the creator as well as better looking presets.

The problem with the character creators in Demon Souls, Dark Souls 1, and Bloodborne is that you have to be a professional at 3ds max.

As this thread has already proven the character creator is actually very powerful it's UI is just really hard to understand but if you just settle in and fiddle with it you can get amazing results.

I spent around 45 minutes fooling with it in Bloodborne before giving up and getting on with the game. I wouldn't miss it if they left it out next time. It's not like your character has a whole lot of face time in these games.

I loved the dragon's dogma character creation and found Bloodborne's more difficult to figure out. I was pretty happy with my results, though. It was quite hard to figure out how to do a wider, flatter nose.

I liked the char creator on Bloodborne. There was a thread here on gaf with some fine customized characters of the game. Lots of good stuff.

Off: I don't know who did this, but he's a genius:

Yo that's cool a.f. I'm way into that idea. I've always wanted to do a playthrough as a deformed person. It's why I really liked this one I did for a bit

I tried in Dark Souls II to make a trollish woman, but the body size sliders didn't let you go far enough. I ended up using cheat engine to expand it.

It's like they were made for each other, the pet bounding after its hideous beloved owner.

The worst thing about the creators is that they don't actually give a very good portrayal of what your character will look like in the world. The lighting and such is completely different. I've had a few cases making a new personage where I thought, "Yes, just right," but once I'm in the game, the face looks very off. Thankfully, Bloodborne added the ability to save templates, but even with that feature, getting a "perfect" appearance can still be extraordinarily tedious.

Why not let them be happy, and revel as babes?

why did this make me laugh so hard.

Cute. Speaking of Dragon's Dogma between the two i think The Souls Series gives you more freedom but DD has better presets.

I think they're great, just a bit hard to use. The presets are terrible, but the level of customization is deep enough that you can make really great-looking characters. It just takes some effort. Dragon's Dogma has a better character creator though, because there's better choice for body types and hair styles.

Dark Souls has the worst character creator of the series, IMO, particularly for males. I made good-looking male characters in all the games, but the best I've ever managed for Dark Souls was "sorta acceptable". The best ones are probably Dark Souls II and Bloodborne. So glad they added beards, too.

They're only as bad as you make them.

Honestly, my characters have always looked great.
Same.

Some (not all) of my creations (apologies for the blur on some of the Dark Souls 2 pics, they were taken by my friend's capture card on the PS3 using the binoculars which add an ugly DoF effect):

Later made these in Dark Souls II for PC:

I've since made more Bloodborne characters, I should post them some time, I like how they came out. ^^

Be patient, learn the mechanics, figure out the patterns and if you make a mistake learn what you did wrong and try something different next time. Everything in the souls series is fair, if something goes wrong it is generally your fault. :P

Hehehehe

I think you meant to say: git gud

Yeah, I kind of like DD not having sliders, sure, it limits the variety somewhat, but it also makes it easy to redo your character quickly if you're making a new build or something, and there's still a ton of options, at least in DA.

Dark Souls II(haven't played BloodBorne yet) was definitely a step in the right direction, in Demon's and Dark, when you moved one slider, many others were moving on their own at the same time, which was just awful.

I wish they'd allow to save creations as presets, that'd make tweaking much easier.

Here's my old DSII character.

It's part of the janky gameplay. Just slow and unintuitive to use. I always randomize on take a preset and slowly tweak physique first, then the weird colour sliders last.

"BB character creation sucks"
GAF precedes to show horribly obseen to beautifully created characters through BB's model engine.

I love every bit of it.

this thread is too hilarious

amazing

What a bunch of nonsense. The character creator is great. You can make a horrifically bad looking characters, or a great looking characters. Here are my Bloodborne characters (didn't notice my character closing his eyes on the second shot unfortunately).
