Interconnected world with a separate hub area that you warp to/from.
So pretty much Dark Souls II.
Which is a disappointment as well, but we already knew that, so it's ok, I got over it.

Sadly yeah. The gun is meant to be an offensive-minded shield. In all the past games I played as more of a ranged class, but that doesn't look possible in this game. I'll adapt.
a secret meccanic is mentioned in the article, but there are not other details
btw, that could be fuckin amazing as a best mode
a link to that tweet please?

It's a consequence of more complex weapons. Can't really make a red version of the kirkhammer and call it a different weapon. And there still a level of weapon customization they haven't quite touched upon enough.Pretty disappointed that there's so few weapons, but I had a feeling that would be the case from preview footage.
The guns can totally do some decent damage IIRC.
Bloodborne |OT| The Human Eye Can Only See 6 Weapons

It's funny how a lot of people are turned off by how much more actiony Bloodborne appears to be. I understand we all have different tastes but this is exactly why Bloodborne is exciting to me. I always wanted the Dark Souls games to be a little more over the top and we're certainly getting that with Bloodborne. It's like we're finally getting an intelligent hack 'n slash with RPG elements that isn't just mindless like God of War. I couldn't be any more excited about it.
So pretty much Dark Souls II.

Just search "Bloodborne" on twitter, I kinda lost that tweet, I'll make sure to post it if I find it, but he said they mentioned it in the article so it probably wasn't the hidden mechanic.
Anybody with the magazine can confirm?
"Yharnam spends the game in the grip of a perpetual night...that can only be brought to an end by the player finding and finishing off the source of the scourge of beasts." (this could be referring short term like...defeat a major boss, get some daytime, or overall, I guess)

The Nexus was the main reason the story in Demon's Souls was better than Dark Souls. I don't know what's there to be disappointed about? The game has Dark Souls's world design, but brings back a Nexus-like hub, which played an important part in plot and character progression in Demon's Souls not found in Dark Souls. Dark Souls in lacked especially character development.
Everything I've watched show the guns only really doing much damage up-close. Not ranged how I played DS, DS1, and DS2. But that's fine. I don't mind changes.

Because gamers on the internet mostly just like to do one thing: complain.
First it's "We want new IP's" and "Why do we only get sequels? I'm tired of every developer milking the same Ip's" and " I liked the first few games but now it's more of the same"
Then the devs make a new IP that's heavily influenced by their past work but is still aiming to be its own new thing
And then "Why isn't this exactly like their previous game?" "I hate all the changes, why can't this just be more of the same?"
EDGE said:If you thought From Software was going soft, Hidetaka Miyazaki is about to put you brutally back in your place. And if you've been watching this generation from the sidelines, unmoved by the remasters and rush jobs while you wait for the first true essential to arrive, now's the time. As if there was ever any doubt, Miyazaki and his team have done it all over again.

So shields are viable or weak?

How many time does this have to be explained? It says it right there in the OP the world is more like DaS1. Completely interconnected unlike DaS2 which was more hub and spokes.
In Ds2 you could warp anywhere from anywhere and there were an abundance of bonfires. In Bloodborne the warp point are much less frequent and you can only warp to the hub from them instead of all around.
Think Demon's warping and archstone frequency, combined with the world structure of DaS1.
Not really they say there is far less bonfires/lamps than DaS2 and the world is more interconnected than DaS1
No, very much not from what was in this article. The "bonfires" are much further apart and areas have lots of short cuts to unlock to get back to the existing bonfires. They specifically say it is not like Dark Souls 2.
No, Rather its a mixture of Dark Souls and Demons Souls. You got a "Nexus" outside the game world and a huge interconnected world that the exploration and "game" takes place in.
I found Dark Souls to be a far better story/lore than Demon's/II... largely because I was always, always immersed in that decaying world and unable to "port to mommy" so to speak.
From the interview in the article, "I would be lying, when I would say there are no shields, but even if there are, they might be crap (laughs)."
Ok. Thanks for the clairification guys. The combination of hub and DS1 interconnected world has me hyped.
... there's little for sale from the game's sole merchant - or at least the only one we've found so far - that we either don't already have or that seems sufficiently different to what we already own ...
So shields are viable or weak?
problem is past games i nthe series had both. so why settle for just one now?

The whole miracles/magic thing in DeS was fascinating & showed natural progression, & that was just one of many plot points that couldn't be done without a consistent safe place.
Edge found one but never equipped it. They said the description of it said "Shields are nice, but not if they engender passivity". We've seen enemies carrying shields, but they look like several pieces of wood that have been nailed together. And they work about as well as you might expect.
It's probably a misinterpretation of
Maybe they missed the "I guess" part.
