So, I wrecked
with a +6 Tonitrus (+30 Strength) in like 1 minute and 30 seconds. What other bosses are weak to Blunt + Lightning damage?

I don't know how tough the timing is with the pistol. I used Ludwig's rifle and was able to parry him in all the forms if I recall correctly. But most of my fight was also filled with lots of tense back and forth trades.

Expose his attacks, hit him a couple of times and step back. Save bullets for the latter half of the fight.
It was really difficult to me but I managed.

Also, is the Pistol just really bad for quick parrying? I find that half the time it's too slow and my shot misses (not timing related, target just moves or gets too close and the shot doesn't connect).

I beat that son of a bitch hunter o/
I did it legit and nearly got him a few times but fuck that dirty prick. I pulled him to the steps and eventually he just stopped moving. Everything I did to him had counter attack damage too lmao

So I'm in the Lower Pthenumerian [sic] Chalice Dungeon, Layer 4 (non-random version)
I got to a point (in the main section pre-gate) with two bridge rooms, and a sewer section underneath them. In one of these sewer rooms, a path led to a round room with a ogre-type guy in the middle, and two chests. However, there is a second floor to this room I cannot figure out how to reach and there is no alternative path to the room.
e: forgot to mention there's a dead body with loot on him up there, but no apparent door on the second floor. very strange.
Are these non-random Chalice dungeons exactly the same for everyone? How do I get up there?

Nope, she's gone from the ward, and she's gone from the starting sewers area too (I checked there in the off chance her AI would have reset and she'd be there for some reason). The lamp at Odeon is still not working, and absolutely nothing happens in the Odeon tomb area, whether I arrive from the Cathedral Ward or from Central Yharnam.
Fuck this.I wanted to fight the
katana user everyone talks about, but I get the shaft and get denied in two playthroughs. So annoying.
Yea it happened to me as well with my 1st character.
I think there's a cut-off point somewhere that made the entire encounter disappear though I am sure it's before defeating Rom.

I had a fairly productive night.
Beat Rom, 8th boss down for me. He was a pain in the ass. Tried a few different weapons and finally put him down with the saw cleaver with bolt paper. Probably 10-15 attempts.
I got my second piece of umbilical cord from the clinic afterward, and then dicked around in the Unseen Village. There I made it to the second lantern and died at the three hunters a few times and called it a night.

Trading this fucking game in. I had 400k blood echoes, fighting Eicar Amila on new game + with only a slither of health left to defeat her.........and what the fuck happens? I fall through the game world and die! LIKE WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So basically the conclusion is, Arcane sucks and don't waste your stat points too much, or even if any, on it?
I can't help you out, but the pistol seems fine for quick parrying for me. I didn't try to parry him as much and just tried stunlocking him whenever I had the chance.

Just go back in to the Vicar room, grab your Blood Echoes, and warp out using the Bold Hunter Mark.
And yeah, why would you enter a boss area with 400k blood echoes....?

Why would you go into a boss fight with 400k echos? Were you just really, really positive you were going to win that fight?
Kind of a rule of thumb to never get too cocky in any of the Souls games.

I'd say you're about 60-70% done depending on how much optional stuff you want to do.

Done with my first playthrough.
I can tell NG+ is going to be tough. It took like 5-6 attacks to kill the first dude in Central Yharnam with a +7 Holy Blade. lol
In terms of items you get for completion,
Also tried my first chalice dungeon which I completely ignored. Seems pretty cool and has a tomb raider vibe but I can see how they might get boring after doing them a lot. My first attempt was using the chalice you get from BSB so I assume it was like the very first dungeon you could do. It only had three depth levels, though. I fought that fire beast boss at the end and looted a big tomb (which just had more ritual blood) so I assume that's the end. Is that right or should every dungeon have 5 levels?
Ended up refusing to die and killing Gehrman. Going by that ending I am going to assume that's the bad ending.

I received the old hunter's badge from Gehrman which let me buy his scythe and clothing from the vendor. Is there anything else I missed or any new items I can get in NG+? Do different endings give you different items?

As a noob, when should I do chalice dungeons? Are they like extra challenge maps or are they helpful for progression? I only have the first one unlocked.

When you're around level 30 for a fair challenge. They're optional, but you ay find blood gems and other goodies in them.

It looks like it's just the door that connects Cathedral Ward with where you fought

The only thing I can think is that it's going to be part of some dlc where it's just a shortcut between that area and CW.
Yeah. I think I've heard people say it would connect to the cleric beast and just got removed, but I dunno why they even let you interact with it.
On NG+ when you're way overleveled because they suck.
Too heavy carrying all those blood echoes. The world couldn't support your fat ass.

I believe the pistol has a faster draw than the blunderbuss, thus parrying should be easier. Evelyn seems to be even faster, and Ludwig's rifle the slowest.
I use the pistol and killed that boss entirely off parries so it's definitely not impossible.
