So, starting from the very first chalice dungeon you have to do, how long til it starts getting tough? Aren't the first few a joke? I kind of want to just rush through this to be done and get the plat since I know people hate the Chalice stuff.

Depends on your level when you first start the dungeons. If you do them as soon as they're available, you'll have a much tougher time. If you only start doing the dungeons at NG+ for example, the first few are going to be a breeze because they don't scale in difficulty.

I would say the Defiled Chalice bosses. Every else was relatively easy.

If you go to all the side areas in the dungeons you have open, you should never need to grind for materials on your way to the last chalice needed for the trophy.

Agreed. Even then Defiled isn't so bad besides the bosses. I am so late in the game I parry non-stop.

At no point to the final chalice dungeon do you have to grind or redo an earlier chalice for certain materials.

As long as you are thorough and clear out each chalice dungeon that you *must* do then you will have enough materials.

You will have to do Ailing Loran for materials but you still never have to repeat old chalices.

I made an alternate and gifted myself 1.1 million echoes for the alternate, I actually thought they'd go farther... Echoes ain't cheap. by reddit that will only go up to about llevel 90 although that is high enough to do practically anything. Later. If I even play an alternate

Interesting. I kept dieing when I was being too selective. When I realized I could just go up to her and hit her once before she could do just about any of her attacks I beat it on that try.

Souls endings have generally always been poopy lose-lose endings.

Demon's Souls is the only one that you can argue otherwise.

Holy fuck this game. First time playing a "Souls game" and spent hours on Central Yharnam and just beat Cleric Beast. I can't recall a time when a game got my blood pumping this much. This is the very definition of "thrilling". It's so damn uncomfortable, annoying, and inviting at the same time.

Me too. My first plat ever. Never care of that stuff. At first, I notice I was only missing the Hunter Essence trophy. I thought I got every weapon. So, I went through the list. Lol, it was the starting saw cleaver. Bought it. Bam. Plat.

Interesting. I kept dieing when I was being too selective. When I realized I could just go up to her and hit her once before she could do just about any of her attacks I beat it on that try.

During Phase 1, I kept tanking her attacks and wasting my vials. During Phase 2 I kept trying to bait an attack where I could stagger her and go for a visceral (I had the best visceral attack up rune on and could take out 15% with one visceral). I finally slowed it down, used the whip and hit and run tactics in phase 1. Phase 2, more whip to stay out of range but still stuck close to her. The killing blow came from a throwing knife

Pthumeru Chalice Dungeon
Central Pthumeru Chalice Dungeon
Lower Pthumeru Chalice Dungeon
Ailing Loran Chalice Dungeon, for the 2x Bastard of Loran (found in layer 3) needed to create the Defiled Chalice dungeon.
Defiled Chalice Dungeon
Lower Loran Chalice Dungeon or Great Isz Chalice Dungeon for the 2x Red Jelly (found in layer 3 of either) needed to create the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice Dungeon (assuming you picked up 2x in the chest in the Lecture Building)(Isz bosses are easier)

You get the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice after beating the final boss of the Defiled Chalice. But beware, in that dungeon, your health is cut by 50%.

To answer the other 2 questions, you'll naturally get them by doing the above chalice dungeons, assuming you explore every room. Beast Claws are in the Ailing Loran Chalice Dungeon, the gem should drop in Ailing Loran, Defiled, or Great Pthumeru.

yesterday, The first one was probably the most difficult boss fight for me up until now. I ended up having to coop it after 15 attempts. No regrets there.
The other boss was a walk in the park in comparison. I actually had to get up and open the door mid fight. I came back expecting to be dead but I wasn't so I healed up and kept slamming it until it was over. Not sure if the fight bugged out but I'll take the freebie!

on my first try with my skill (dex) build with the Blades of Mercy. I thought I was dead meat at first because I used 10 vials and only had him down a sliver, but then after that first phase the fight seemed to get easier and I was doing a lot of dodge then R1 attacks. What a rush.

Just to pitch in, I pretty much stayed at SL 100 through all the Depth 4/5 chalices, so they're definitely doable.

Health padding helps a lot with Defiled Chalice but they're by no means impossible.
