GUYS be hyped! This is the real deal! The necessary evolution of the Souls games right there! Yes, I've already played it.
 
Holy crap, didn't think Bish would be doing the OP.

I'm just angry I have to wait til Wednesday to dive in. I'll have to dodge all the press and users spoilers for 24 hours...
 
Wont be able to pick up my copy until after I'm off work tomorrow morning, so I wont get to play until around 11 am my time.

Stupid job getting in the way of my fun.
 
I feel bad for Robot Pants. Probably spent a long time getting the OT prepped. But if you can't stick to posting it on time then why volunteer.

Anyway, I'll be here, watching a stream or two from those who got it early.

Starting class will be Military Veteran with Saw Cleaver as my starting weapon.
 
So I caught a bit of a stream of this last night.

It pretty much is a souls game through and through, just under a new IP? And a slightly different setting?

I haven't been following it that much, forgive me.

It's a 'Spiritually Related' game to the souls series. It's not a direct sequel, but shares many of the common elements that you find in Demon's and Dark Souls.

If they were to just call it 'Dark Souls III' - FROM would be limiting themselves to how much they could tweak the formula / lore / setting / etc without getting everyone up in arms over changes from the Souls games.

The setting is new - more of a Victorian/Goth setting than a Dark Fantasy/Medieval setting.

The combat is faster paced and rewards more aggressive play styles. Shields are not really a thing (so far 1 shield has been found, and it's crap). Magic and ranged options also seem to be a thing of the past.

The game has guns - although from what I've seen they are more of a defensive mechanic - time it right to stun an enemy, sort of the equivalent of parry / riposte in the Souls games. The gun itself isn't much of a damage source - but the critical opening that it can allow is.

Has some similar multiplayer mechanics with invasions and co-op. Not exactly like the summoning stones in the Souls games, but something similar where you ring bells to summon / be summoned.

So, sort of how Dark Souls isn't a direct sequel to Demon's Souls - BloodBorne isn't a sequel to any of the souls games, but shares much of the same spirit of them.

Endurance: you didn't skip leg day
Strength: hit shit better
Skill: get shit done
Bloodtinge: bang bang bitch
Arcane: fairy dust a mother fucker

what does that mean?

from what I understand, bloodtinge affects guns, but from what I also understand, guns are primarily a utility -- for parrying -- and so it seems like tiny increases in damage to that would not really matter.

Stat purpose and soft/hardcaps:
Vitality - Softcap: 30, Hardcap: 50 (every build should have at least 30 of this)
Endurance - Hardcap: 40 (only increases stamina since equip burden is no more)

Skill - Previously known as Dexterity
Bloodtinge - Guns and anything that scales with Bloodtinge
Arcane - Increases the damage done by fire and bolt damaging equipment

Not anymore. This is the OT now.
As I posted in the pre-load thread, an OT is a place for people to discuss the game, first and foremost. Delaying it because you aren't done loading it up with PR material isn't acceptable, so we've taken it into our own hands.

Robo Pants was supposed to make the OT

Seriously we're all gonna make the characters to look exactly as we want and then have them covered from head to toe only seeing their eyes hahaha

I said 15+ minutes (meaning I take probably 25 minutes)! But in later Souls playthroughs I just hit the randomize button a bunch of times. The helmet hides the face anyways.

I feel for him but he bought it on himself. My professors would give no shits if I turned a final paper in late. Instant 0.
 
Best to think of it like this: Bloodborne is Shadow Tower to Demon's Souls' King's Field. Similar engine, similar mood, very different systems in place.
 
I always skip the first page of OTs anyway. It's always full of browser killing gifs and people shouting their own version of "FIRST". My only issue with the current title is the game title is spelled wrong. But maybe that's part of the charm.

15+ minutes? I will probably spend close to 2 hours on that thing D: With the ability to save favorite appearances I will probably create a couple different ones and choose which I like better.
 
Actually, now that I think about it, OTs made by all of us is a great idea... Just give a kickstart and the rest depends on the community.
