Bloodborne Press Preview Impressions (16/03/2015)

He was banned? Do we know why?

I meant to add that he's banned as far as I know. There was some tweet or post where he said he'd PP money to someone if he was wrong about I think Xbone specs—he was wrong, didn't PP, got banned for being dishonest. My retelling is awful, but I seem to recall that's how it went down.

The Artisan, I'm not trying to pick on you or anything, but how do you get to the point of being a Gaf regular never having heard of review embargos?

Or review embargos of any media in general.
it's fine, i'm still really ignorant in regards to the innards & mechanics of the gaming indsutry. i've heard the term review embargo but i didn't look too much into it any other time I saw. I saw someone on a different message board saying "i'm surprised [bloodborne] has a review embargo" and that's when I made that post asking what it exactly it means/what it's for.

I've got a friend that's been playing it since friday.

He keeps teasing me saying it's the best Souls game yet.
My hype can't get any higher at this point.

Yep gettng pretty hyped ....thankfully the Shadow of the Colossus run is keeping me busy...will ahve to push forward to get it all done by 10am tuesday when I pick up my CE!

Colossus 11 is up!

Well it was quite rude. I get very easily annoyed when it comes to people trying to be confrontational from a place of ignorance. Like, it's the internet, not that hard to check facts before confronting someone about something.
Gies couldn't calm down for more than a minute after the guy tweeted that he has been clarified to not tweet that primo-killer take down of some rando asshole. Who does he think he is? How has he not been following my oeuvre over the years consisting of driven opinions like "Nvidia announces the new Shield, a 4K Android TV console" and "Bringing real-time strategy to the MOBA genre with Namco's Supernova"

Yeah, hundreds of hate tweets, routinely being shit talked on NeoGaf where he can't even respond if he wanted to since he's banned. Being reviled and harassed by thousands of people can't be fun.

This really made me laugh unexpectedly.

That makes sense. I really wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, I was just legitimately shocked by that. But, as informed as I like to think I am, there are plenty of things I discover I'm ignorant to in this hobby everyday.

My sympathies. :(

I probably won't be able to get it until tuesday afternoon and I find that way too long.
Haha yeah. I have a cadaver dissection this week, two exams, a paper to write, and a couple quizzes to study for. I'll probably install it and get everything updated before this Saturday though.

Because the guy confronted him with a bunch of false facts and accusations. He has every right to respond in that way.

Arthur Gies must be the name of a Bloodborne boss I haven't seen yet. Spoil that shit people!

I'm really regretting posting that image. I assumed we could all laugh at how someone believed Arthur Gies was going to review Bloodborne because of this thread, instead of just launching into a stupid argument about Gies because NeoGAF.

I mean games that have their own niche and way to play that reviewers completely ignore. For example the Wonderful 101, which had a very unique combat system and from the (very poor) reviews of the game it was quite clear that the reviewers never sat down to think how to play and didn't do so for long.

Wonderful 101 was a divisive game, and that's reflected in the reviews. It didn't do too badly at the end of the day with reviews. Similarly, Souls games are kind of divisive so nobody should get bent out of shape if a couple of reviewers really don't like this game.

Yes, plenty of people giving games bad reviews don't allow themselves time to "understand" the game mechanics etc properly... but if you invest a decent amount of time and just don't enjoy a game a low score is fair game in my opinion. Reviews are just opinions after all.

He's only been here for a few months, so I can see why he wouldn't have much experience with the in's and outs of review embargos.

Gies pulls out the impenetrable twitter counterattack of getting angry at the wrong guy.
That's not the same guy, is it? The conversation Gies is in is with another twitter member.
Gies never said "NeoGaf called me a fucking joke, grrr!" but the discussion was that people were hurling insults at him for no reason, and he got pissed off (reasonably so). The poster I replied to, assumed that Gies' anger came from a "made up tweet", which it clearly didn't.
Us guys?

How do you know they are a Gaffer - that's a bit of a blanket statement to make.

Almost Gies-like.
Gaf doesn't even have anything to do with the twitter argument, until the guy he attacked shifted the blame to us, so I don't see how that's relevant. I'm saying the person on Gaf deflecting that there are no comments about him being a joke, is making it hard to not side with Gies on this.

How dare that man not now my gaming preferences. I'll humiliate him and mistake him for another guy tweeting at me.
More like
"How dare he accuse me of not liking a series, while assuming that I follow the orders of superiors, while also accusing me of the same work of my co-worker" all in one fell swoop. I'd be pretty annoyed as well if someone came out of nowhere with that nonsense on a Sunday.

I don't even want to read the reviews as I want to jump in while I'll still don't know some things, but the hype might compel me to read a few.
