Awesome Picks (your opinions may vary)

One of hitchcock's best!!!! For those uninformed, MI2, well John Woo ripped the plot point from this movie.

The fight scene is still one of the best and most talked about. Price could be lower but this is Bluray/DVD Combo

Godzilla 2012 Criterion Edition(movie released in 1954)

Wait wat? That movie came out long time ago. YES but it's only $7.99 on Amazon. This is probably Nolan's best and it unjustly got compared to Edward Norton's shitty Illusionist. I was going to start a new thread like Speed Racer thread but thought best to stick it here. Yes it's only $7.99.

Mentioned by zmoney. Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut is also only $9.49

Anyone remember that old Dennis $1.99 breakfast deal commercial jingle? "$1.99 Are you out of your mind?" "$7.99, Are you out of your mind?" God, I feel old.

Grabbing Kojak movie collection. I doubt they'll look amazing, but it's KOJAK. Nothing better.

I will crap my pants with happiness the day Vertigo hits Blu

The more I look at it, many of his biggest films have yet to hit Blu. Vertigo, The Birds, Rear Window.

And yes, I too will soil myself when Vertigo hits Blu. Hopefully this year since it is Universal's 100th anniversary.

Definitely want to upgrade to Blu-ray with Criterion's Godzilla.

$8 to upgrade on The Prestige is pretty tempting too.

Oh man, I am definitely going to pick up Notorious.

Does anyone know if or when Jurassic Park is going to get a Bluray release separate from the trilogy? I really want it, but I don't really want The Lost World and III.

It probably won't be for another year, at least. Universal likes to stretch their forced box sets for as long as they can.

Definitely in for Godzilla, but I may check out the Rollin films down the line; never seen anything by him, but he comes highly recommended in the books I have on horror films.

Already got my Godzilla Criterion. That'll do for this week.

Next week Drive, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Lady and the Tramp are all out here. Ouch.

Wings was the first and only silent film to win an Oscar for best movie. It's a silent film classic but was never released on DVD for completely unfathomable reasons. It's pretty special that it's now getting the Blu-Ray treatment. Here's a good article on the movie: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/22/m...wellmans-wings-with-clara-bow-on-blu-ray.html

BTW what is this crap?

Both movies are great, each in their own way. There's no reason to shit on The Illusionist just because you think The Prestige is undeservedly forgotten among Christopher Nolan's work.

I just watched The Illusionist for the first time since it came out. And the first time since seeing The Prestige. Yeah.... not very good. The ending is a sham when you actually think about it (which I apparently didn't when I first saw it). I feel bad for all the people I recommended it to.

In the UK this week, we finally get the stand alone releases of Alien and Aliens. And next week we get Garden State. Looking forward to getting all three.

Universal did something similar with the Hitchcock Collection DVDs here a few years ago. They all had ugly covers based on the same template with the idea that when you bought them all and put them together, they'd form a coherent collection on the shelf.

These ones.

Manhattan > Annie Hall. You heard me. Fuck those Hitchcock covers, glad I'm not a big fan so I don't have to buy them. Netflix has some sort of Blu-Ray for Godzilla (Gorjira), it's definitely not the Criterion one though, anyone have any experience with it? OK print? Full movie and everything?
