Damn, just really screwed myself in the Gathering Storm game... clicked the wrong development. Argh. :lol

Edit:
Platy, I'm gonna have to go pretty soon. Didn't expect the game to take this long. Apologies, but we can continue later.

Dooooooooooon't be like that!

Our first SEVERAL games were 95% people who hadn't seen the show -- it doesn't matter. You just need to know the premise. What I wrote above I didn't even realize until looking back, though I see how I didn't write it like that.

In other news: Betrayal at House on the Hill is mine! Even if I don't end up liking it, its kind of a collector's item now.

Does anyone use a Mac in here? This Mac won't access that. Well, I registered and then tried to log in, but it just kicks me back out instead of letting me log in.
fyi, I noticed that the username is case sensitive and it kicks you back if the case is wrong. maybe not the issue but worth checking out.

Damn.. First game of Dunwich we got our ass handed badly. 2nd myth card caused a monster surge and since we were with 6 players we already had 8 monsters at the end of the first turn!

One of the portal had thus 4 monsters, all yellow and all badass. What would you do if that occured to you? Can you just move into the portal without fighting the enemies? Do you have to fight them all 4 one at a time with just one investigator (we were poorly equipped at that point in the game)?

Going with 6 wasn't a good idea, can't imagine how it would have gone with 8 players..

After 1 hour we had no closed portal and destiny track was at 10 out of 12. The Ancient was Abhoth and with all the monster surge we had to face, no need to say that we had a rough time killing the Child of Abhoth that spawned here and there.

Oh god I have a headache. And I kept telling my friends "yeah yeah there is a way to win". Right. :lol

It would be kind of cool if you could team up with one investigator to clean up a place. That portal with the 4 yellows really dragged us down.

The winners of the "Charlies", the annual wargaming awards, have been annouced, and Conflict of Heroes did tremendously well, picking up the WW2 award, best graphics award (not suprising there!) , and "best" overall wargame award. Very impressive.

As a bonus, playable by mere mortals!

After reading the rules for Middle-earth Quest, BSG Xpac, and Chaos in the Old World.... Fantasy Flight has secured a pricey order for me.

Don't think I'll have time then.

Platypotamus and I just finished our game from yesterday. Tough to get going again when you have to stop partway through.

Server down?

(Also, anyone know of any other asynchronous board games online besides this and Tigris? Want to see if I can't get some of my far away board gaming partners signed up for as many as I can)

Well there's always the inscrutable but comprehensive BrettspielWelt. GameTableOnline has the best presentation imo (and some favorites like RoboRally, 1960, and Axis & Allies) but I think you have to buy each game ($5-10 I think).

I played 3 games of Pandemic with 3 people losing all 3 times (on the easiest difficulty no less!). It was definitely fun, and the two other people seemed like they were enjoying so it was a pretty good weekend overall.

I played a couple games of Monopoly for the first time in a long time and I completely dominated both times. The first game took just over an hour and I decimated everyone else just by having the railroad properties. The 2nd game I'm surprised I won as all I had were the 3 red ones. But I managed to put up hotels and everyone just happened to land on them. This one took a bit longer but still was far shorter than usual.

Anyone got any good Risk strategies to share? I've always been terrible at the game but I think that's because I would always go for Asia which is about the last thing you want to do.

My girlfriend and I played Last Night on Earth and we both figured it would be best with more people. We did enjoy the atmosphere but coopoeration seems to be where this game really shines. Hopefully we can wrangle up a third or fourth by this weekend. Other than LNoE we played a few games of Catan and played Apples to Apples with the large group that was over for our BBQ. Overall it was a good weekend.

You don't need to see the show at all to enjoy it. Trust me, in the first game I played, 2 of the girls never saw the show and it didn't affect things at all.

5 is the sweet spot on LNOE, I say.

I'll give it a shot.

3/4 gaffers so far not bad not bad!

Flynn you'll have to excuse the server today--it's usually snappy but for some reason very slow right now.

I was noticing. So long as its not me that's fine.

yeah: 090810: Problem with IP today. Very low bandwidth, this can cause some
missed moves during the games. This should be solved by 090811 : 16.00 GMT.

Looks like we missed your move.

I miss Key to the Kingdom.

That board was beautiful and the game was actually kind of fun. It made my childhood a bit more colorful and fantastical.

Boy, I really stunk up the place that game. I forgot to watch the points on the table. Wasn't expecting it to end that fast.

GG, guys.

I guess this counts as a boardgame as well. I played snakes and ladders: drinking edition, (for ever snake = 1 shot) this weekend. After that experience I've been thinking about how to adapt that into Robo Rally....

Laser hit=shot.

I'm thinking of a Jackass-style version of Galaxy Trucker. You friends get to punch you when something does damage to your ship. Of course, they have to hit you from the direction of the damage.

Just bought War in Pacific with my friend. The freaking boarad takes almost one room :lol

Oh sweet god. Isn't the book-keeping in that game nuts (it is on the PC, not sure about the board game version).

That being said, the maps in that game are soooo nice. And you get seven of them!

I think the game might actually be manageable if you have teams of players with different commands that work in parallel-that's the way we play the ACW RSS games from MMP and how we are starting up our next OCS campaign (DAK2), and it speeds up the games tremendously . Just two people managing the reins there would just take too long, I would think.
