Bob Iger confirms Disney will release standalone STAR WARS films for some characters

First one should be Boba Fett.

He deserves one first, but to be frank, I'd rather them hit their stride a little bit before shoehorning a Boba Fett story.

Just wait until Disney lets just about anybody take a crack at Star Wars films. They're going to oversaturate the market with the franchise and bleed it out. They won't mean to kill it, but they probably will (to an extent).

Everyone forgetting about Xizor

There won't be a Lando Calrissian for the same reason there won't be a Black panther movie and why Song of the South won't come out of the vault. Disney has some racist "no black" people policy it seems

Song of the South is considered racist for a bunch of reasons, not because it has black people in it.

Yeah I think I'm out from hyping this restart. Any hope of mine that SW7 would be a swift, efficient and classic tale set in the SW universe are out the window. Following in the footsteps of The Avengers is not what I had hoped for.

^Gives me an idea. I would love to see a transition movie centered around a clone that spans from the end of Episode III to A New Hope. I know they probably have books and video games about it, and there's that TV show that's stuck in development hell, but I would love to just see a focused movie about it.

So is it going to be about character introduced in episode 7 or an entirely new one? Everyone from the prequels is dead, and everyone from the original trilogy is old or dead.

It's a movie. It can take place any time in the entire Star Wars universe. That's the whole point of these one-shots, is to explore characters and time periods outside of the Episodes.

This will either go extremely well or extremely poorly.

Now there's no excuse for me not to get my Kyp Durron movie, though. (
I'm willing to settle for a non speaking cameo in Episode VII

Yahoo news says the rumor is the first film will be about Yoda. Screw Disney for trying to turn Star Wars into a shitty Marvel movie universe. I should have known better.

While Yoda could be very easy to screw up, the reports have Kasdan writing one of these projects (and probably consulting on others like he is on Episode VII). And I would say that no one has ever written Yoda better than he did. So he's one of the few people I would trust in trying to handle that.

We don't need to know the origins of Yoda. We don't need to know anything about him, really. Anything and everything they tell us about him can and will be discarded in the context of the greater Star Wars canon since we know it has zero bearing on anything in the ESB.

The reason why the Empire Strikes Back works is because of that mystique. Whatever shitty movie they come up with will never match your imagination. Why ruin that?

I would love a movie showing the past of Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. Idris Elba can play Lando, Leonardo DiCaprio as Han.

Boba Fett should get his own movie too, no doubt.

They could focus on a guy in a Mandalorian super-suit, a patriotic Imperial agent, a super Jedi with lightning powers, a guy who can transform into a rancor, a female Rebel spy, and the sharpest bowcaster shooterguy this side of Alderaan.

That could work, but only if they face the Lightning Jedi's brother, who's turned to the Dark Side and secretly works for a powerful Sith Lord.

Are you refering to Canderous Ordo, Kir Kanos, Galen Marek, Zam Wesell, Mara Jade, and Tycho Celchu ?

That would be a pretty boss team they could have to team up to stop a Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet

What a fucking mess.

A lot of the charm of Star Wars is the limited amount of content, opposed to Star Trek where you'd have to watch tens of hundreds of hours of tv and film to see it all.
