Bob's game Kickstarter

Love how he openly acknowledges that he didn't know what he was doing and didn't have any money, yet the reason he couldn't get his game published is that the industry is a "criminal cult."

I don't know how anyone could be supportive of him at this point, the guy basically squandered $10K. It's either a scam, or he has no concept of the value of money.

I have always thought that this was some kind of weird strange social experiment slash troll that everyone bought into because it's funny and ever-developing, like a bizarre real life fiction. I think you're all taking it too seriously.

Although the people who paid him to continue his weird little experiment on Kickstarter I have to wonder about...

Whenever I hear about Bob's Game again, I always just remember that nutty documentary him and Tim Rogers made of going to e3 and then I get sad that they took it off youtube. He actually seemed pretty normal in the video, but whenever he writes something it comes off very manic. Well shoot, I hope it all works out for him in some way.

Okay, I'm very confused at the moment. It's just a tetris clone?? Is that the joke?

Theres two games named bob's game.

"bob's game" (with the quotations) is an RPG that presumably still involves walking around and talking to people, and playing a bunch of fake retro games as you build up to play a puzzle game called bob's game.

bob's game is the puzzle game, and is "the best puzzle game ever made". In the RPG it's the most popular video game on the planet, and is a huge e-sport. In real life it looks like it's a highly customizable puzzle game engine with a bunch of pre-set modes based on popular puzzle games.

Oh my goodness. I remember reading about this "Bob's Game" years ago. It's... it's still a thing?

I'm truly amazed. Well done, Bob.

This guy needs to collaborate with Marc Griffon for Bullet Bob: The Game.

Seriously though, assuming this guy hasn't been lying through his teeth since the start, how can you live like that? Sometimes you need to know when to fold.

He was hanging out with Tim Rogers. Anybody would seem normal in such a situation.

Most normal people would get a real job, like at retail or fast food, and use that to pay for living income while working nights on the game. There's no way he was spending 16 hours a day programming and 8 sleeping.

Watching delusional people can be fascinating. Uncomfortable, but fascinating.

But that looks nothing like what Bob's Game actually was back in the DS prototype days. It was an adventure game, not a puzzle game.

Is this the same guy? Or just someone with a game with the same name? Because that sure ain't the Bob's Game I remember.

IIRC he was doing both.

Oh yeah that guy. I remember when he destroyed his room to protest Nintendo not allowing him to publish his game.

Ulillillia is still the GOAT of wacky bedroom game devs.

Apparently the adventure game was supposed to surround the puzzle game... or something. You were a dev making the puzzle game, or maybe someone playing it competitively. It was weird.

I didn't know this was out, even if it's supposedly just the minigame. It's kind of sad, seeing it get a stealth drop to no fanfare after almost 1 1/2 decades of build-up. I hope this is a sign Bob's moving forward & is seeking/sought help.

Well... The author name on Steam is the same, though that could easily be faked. The description of the game is crazy enough as I remember his raving being anyway.

Besides, he was a nutjob, nothing he did madesense so I can believe this is the same guy.

Honestly, I would be so happy if he had used the kickstarter money for therapy and getting himself a stable life.

Still ~18K owners and 35 mostly positive reviews is nothing to sneeze at, even for a free game.
