Ordered. Now where can I buy a hand cannon? I've searched everywhere I can think of since I first saw it.
looks to be a uk exclusive. at least I haven't found anywhere outside of the UK for it yet. :(

if the hand cannon works well with the control schemes of REUC and REDSC, i'll order it, house of the dead, and REDSC in a heart beat.

love me some light gun games but don't really like time crisis or generic cops vs. bad guys stuff. (GIVE US A CARNEVIL PORT!!!)

I agree to some extent. I'd buy it for $20. A short rail shooter just isn't worth that much.
there is actually a shit load of replay value in the game. It would be like saying SFIV is short because you won it on the first guy you took through in 20 minutes. Director's Cut and unlockables bring the game up much higher than it's initial play time ftr you can't play through on Director's Cut until you beat it once.

Maybe worth 20. For me light gun games are just relics of the past and this one brings nothing new to the genre.

I got over the style in about 10 minutes. It could have been cool but they went so EXTREME with it that it just became stupid.

GOTY 2009 so far.

Seriously:

Music (best soundtrack of the gen and this is by a longshot)
Graphics (great blood, detail, and environments)
Gameplay (fantastic combo system, upgrade weapons, addictive)
Replay (Once you beat the main game, director's cut unlocks and it's basically a whole new game)

THIS IS MOTHERFUCKING FUCKING GREAT - THIS IS A STEAL YOU MOTHERFUCKERS, BUY THIS MOTHERFUCKING, BITCH ASS MOTHERFUCKER OF A GAME! SO FUCKING FUN.

Honestly you are insane. What is there to get about this game? In my opinion it was ugly, boring, and childish. Seems the sales number back up my opinion and a lot of people are just not "getting it".

DONT BUY
DONT BUY
DONT BUY HOTD:O FOR ANYTHING OVER 20.

well, apparently buying a light gun game and expecting something different than a light gun game to begin with. if you go in not really interested in playing a light gun game (which is certainly your opinion) then how do you really expect to like this game, or for anyone who IS interested in a light gun game to take your opinion with more than a grain of salt? Your pretty much doing the same as going into a Halo 3 thread and saying "This game sucks. FPS are old news and this game doesn't change anything." I mean really, did you expect any other reaction? For people who WANT a light gun game, the game is great. By your own words, you find them to be relics of the past. Sounds like your fault for getting sucked into the hype despite not being interested in the genre.

Valid point. But I think that the new RE light gun game and even the Dead Space one look like they bring something mildly fresh to the genre other than some potty language.

If they do then that's great for them. Really, I look forward to both of those games. That being said, had they changed HOTD up I am pretty sure more people would have been pissed than welcomed it. You can make small changes to such a hardcore franchise (in terms of following, not game quality), but too many changes and it's safe to say the niche fanbase that is there is going to abandon it.

Well, I thought that was the point. :D

And I also think it's a good thing that the game kept close to the roots of the genre. It's also a good thing that other rail shooters get more creative, but there is still room for a "just shoot at everything" game, without inventory, story, or anything. The genre never was about subtlety and depth, anyway...

OR the fact they brought pulp into it. If you enjoyed the silly aesthetic of Grindhouse, you will love Overkill. Also, it needs to be reiterated: the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL.

I've been playing the hell out of Madworld and I really want to pick this up but I really don't have the extra cash for it right at this very moment. Sucks. I really want to pick it up.

I'll stop after this post but I disagree about making changes to franchise -- Resident Evil 4 was a huge seller and completely changed the entire game.

There was both an inventory system and a large amount of story.

But Grindhouse had decent writing and got what pulp was. Pulp isn't just saying mother fucker and putting a grain filter over a game.

But yes the soundtrack is good -- agree with that.

It's not an inventory per se, you only had to choose your weapon at the start of a mission. You could not store health or medikits, ammunitions, tools etc. The latest time crisis and virtua cop had a deeper system for multiple weapons management, and I wouldn't even call that an inventory.

And the story is a joke (obviously), and doesn't cut the flow of zombies for more than 5 seconds. I wouldn't compare it to more elaborate rail shooters.

It's more a parody of Grindhouse, like Planet Terros was (actually the game is almost a rip-off).

I found it a fun game, not to everyone's taste, but one of the best light gun games around. Get it if you have a sense of humour and don't take games to seriously.

GAF always takes its games seriously.

it's no effort really. worst part is buying the HDD. I still have to do it (USB Loader that is. already modded my wii), but from everything I've heard installing this to HDD completely eliminates the framerate issues (which IMHO were extremely minor to begin with)

I can vouch for this. Buying a hard drive sucked ass (bastard on ebay sent me a 250GB instead of 320, took a lot of effort to squeeze a refund out of him), but I haven't had any framerate issues and installing the homebrew channel is easy.

Definitely an awesome game. If you have a girlfriend, buy it -- good chances she'll play the game with you. At least in my experience :lol

Yeah this is my wife's favorite game. She went out herself and bought a Perfect Shot especially for it.

People are stupid.

"There are no Wii games to play."

"Here's a Wii game you'll really love!"

"No I don't want a game I'll love I think I'll sit around being a stupid pissant on the internet all day instead."

Welcome to GAF?

You get a $20 Gift Card when you buy HotD: Overkill at Toys R' Us this week. Overkill is full price, but if you're looking to get another game in addition, it makes up for itself and you kinda get a $30 deal.

Got my copy from Amazon and the manual was torn to shit as stuffed in the game's box. :( Now I have to wait even longer to play.
