Bombs detonated at Boston Marathon finish line

I was born in Boston and lived there most of my life. Can someone please remove this tag from me? It's incredibly insensitive to victims of terrorism and human beings.

What the hell? How the fuck did a mod get away with posting that as your tag?! That's not even remotely funny, and I wouldn't have stood for it if I were you.

And, here's somebody comparing Muslims to sharks.

...really?

I wasn't aware we were talking about Muslims in general and not Radical Islamists. I sure left myself wide open to that joke!

Islamism =/= Radical Islamism

Where's the tree in the first pic?

Atlanta thrift shop worker hospitalized after explosion

(AP) ATLANTA - Atlanta fire department officials say a thrift shop employee has been hospitalized with burns after a package he was opening exploded.

Atlanta Fire Department Captain Marian McDaniel says the unidentified worker was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with burns to the hands and legs.

Authorities are investigating the incident.

Police and fire officials remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon.

Here's an article about Atlanta.

You still haven't explained how your analogy makes any sense since the injuries caused by a shark attack and those from seaweed and ocean debris are entirely inconsistent, while a bombing by any form of extremist regardless of affiliation will have the same result.

Also I think I became stupider just by typing that last sentence out, so thanks for that too.

Considering he willingly cooperated with investigative officials and gladly had them search his apartment, he is being treated as a witness and not a suspect.

Rightfully so I might add.

The New York Post really wants to continue fucking that chicken i see. Murdoch conglomerate doubling down because they looked like fools yesterday

The New York Post is a tabloid paper, so it doesn't surprise me that they royally fucked up.

The second picture is zoomed out, the tree is blocked/obfuscated by the people/news graphics, and the sign on the street light was obviously moved from the explosion.

Yeah. Both photos are not from the exact same angle either. This isn't one of those trick images, it's just a question if that bag is indeed the explosive.

There would be physical evidence of a shark bite and likely witness accounts of a shark in the water at a crowded beach.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make.

My point is all about assumptions. You think its wrong to assume a radical Islamic terrorist was responsible for this attack, but as you are not qualified to decide whether someone lost their leg from a shark bite or from jagged debris (and in my example there were no witnesses of the shark), you also no business saying that without evidence people are wrong to jump to a conclusion that, given America's history with bombings that are big enough to make the news, is understandable that anyone would make.

tl;dr Saying that making at any assumption of anything without concrete proof is just silly. It's not racist or whatever to think that active terrorist groups who hate the US might be responsible.

What percentage of bombings in America have been done by Takfiris?

Your analogy is still stupid. The equivalent which applies in this case would be people arguing that there was no explosive device, not about who was responsible. Stop trying to create a narrative which fits your personal biases and wait for evidence.

Even given America's history with bombings it's a hasty conclusion.
I understand the reasons why people jump to such conclusions, but I reserve every right to point out they're still conclusions backed by fear in place of rational thought. If you let such fears keep emotions high and drive the narrative then you're abandoning critical thinking.

I never used the word racist either. This all stems from the notion put forth that thinking this was the work of radical Islamists is reasonable. It really isn't reasonable at all.

I have no personal biases! I actually think that this will turn out to be a case of domestic terrorism. I just thought what Gentleman Jack posted was sort of dumb, so I posted my admittedly ill-conceived analogy as a rebuttal.

Unrelated but semi-related: I just realized one of the bombs blew up directly in front of Atlantic Fish Company. One of my favorite restaurants, by which I've stood right in that outdoor courtyard in that pic.

Just creepy as hell.

So pressure cookers have been a recent hallmark of Islamic terrorists especially AQ and used in instances like the Time Square bombs.

These plans are of course on the internet and anyone can make them.

Just really have no idea.

The father of a man injured in the Boston Marathon bombing says his son had both legs amputated.

Jeff Bauman says his son, 27-year-old Jeff Bauman Jr., is the man pictured in an Associated Press photo taken shortly after the bombing. It shows the younger man being pushed away from the explosion site in a wheelchair.

His father says on his Facebook page that his son had to have both lower limbs removed at Boston Medical Center because of extensive vascular and bone damage. He says his son also had to have another surgery due to fluid in his abdomen.

Well, the location of that fireball sure seems to line-up with the location of that mystery bag.

Also, it looks like all the runners had just started squeezing to the other side of the street to make space for rescue efforts. They're lucky they did, because that second explosion's proximity would have taken a lot of them out. A few seconds earlier, and it could have been even worse.

idk, here is a better picture of the second explosion: http://i.imgur.com/vrgPiS9.jpg
and what that spot looks like today: http://c.o0bg.com/rf/image_960w/Bos...ro/Images/tlumacki_bombaftermath0902-4186.jpg

I'd like to see the unblurred version of that channel 7 photo

This is a picture from the first bomb site (I believe) and not from the site pictured above with the bag. It does appear that the bomb went off behind everyone at the first site. No gore, just debris after the scene had been cleared. But you can see a black burnt spot on the ground.

Wow, I've never seen suits like that before. I'm assuming it's armor against any further explosions?
