So yeah, that's why. And it's very much true.The stuff I watch that's affected by this are the reviews done by people like AngryJoe. He pours his heart and soul into his game reviews, not to mention a ton of work put into the skits and themes he does for each one.
But he also does his "AngryJoe plays ___" videos which is basically him playing games and commenting on them. And I'm sure people still go and watch those videos because it's "AngryJoe plays ___." They come for the AngryJoe. Not the game.
So that's how they can do it for a living. They've built up a personality that people want to watch and be entertained by. Not everyone can be interesting enough to build a fanbase around with just their personality. I certainly couldn't do it. If I could create gaming videos for a living, I would. But I can't because nobody would come and watch me.
Appreciate all that, and I understand, but I was being facetious, as the rest of my post went on to describe how my thought process ended up. I should have been a little more clear.
