Boogie2988 Ps4 Vs Xbox One - Final Verdict

Validates my choice of buying a PS4 for gaming and an xbone for the other stuff he was talking about.

I'd probably still choose the xbone over PS4 as I no longer obsess over games, but if one of my nephews would ask me, I'd tell them to buy a PS4. If one of my siblings asked me, I'd probably say xbone.

I wish more GAFfers were like Boogie - then this place wouldn't be so unpleasant.

Why do you respect that? It's some guy making funny youtube videos, why is it respectable to say he prefers a PS4?

I think he's referring to the fact that MS sent Major Nelson to his house with a free XBone and he didn't let that influence his decision.

Respect. I got a PS4 because it's cheaper, more powerful and more gamer focused. But I'm buying a X180 soon because it does a bunch of cool shit on top of having games that I want to play. That stupid fanwank shit is so played out.

Because he has tons of industry connections from both sides, both companies sending him free stuff and inviting him to trips.
A smarter man perhaps would have kept his mouth shut and kept reaping the benefits from both sides, but i'm glad he didn't.

Video isn't appropriately titled as "Final Verdict" considering the race hasn't even started yet...

If MS can beat Sony on exclusives and great exclusives, in my books (this is the future we're talking about) they will have won. That said, Sony's first party offering is bigger than Nintendo to me so that will be a tough beat... that's just my personal preference.

EDIT: The "best console in the generation" is a bit early... but I can see it happening with Sony's first party pedigree.

He is positive about both consoles, so I don't really see him taking a side.

Got my PS4, love it. Getting my X1 in a few days, gonna love it. Haters gonna hate, but I want the best of both worlds.

Edit: 30 seconds after posting this, just got my text message confirmation from Amazon saying they shipped my Xbox One Day One console!

:P

Poor Larry looks like his face has gone numb from having to pose for a hundred pics in a row.

just finished the vid.. Pretty much mirrors my feelings towards these 2 consoles. Can't go wrong with either of them, but I'm the kind of guy that just cannot miss a sony first party title so ps4 it is for me. Ps4 + nba league pass app and that would pretty much cover my entertainment needs.

He didn't even mention the swappable HD in the PS4. This is a huge factor. I talked to a GS manager today that got a free PS4 he said his 6-7 games on it have already taken up all but 60GB of his 500GB HD. that's with disc version games still needing to be placed in the slot. MS making a big mistake not allowing us to Swap out HDs

This Gen for a long time.... Its PS4 for me.

PS. I was a 360 Fan Boy!!!

Good comparison, he sums it up well. PS4 is primarily a gaming console whereas the One is primarily THE entertainment console. In the end I'll own both.

He is positive about both consoles, so I don't really see him taking a side.

When his entire viewerbase consists of people loving him for his gaming videos, gaming industry related antics and other nerd shit, he definitely took a side.
He kept it real cool about not putting one down or something though.

Wow, someone who's not only being genuine, but is actually EXCITED about brand spanking new consoles instead of acting like a wet blanket?

So refreshing! This video brought a smile to my face.

Yeah, I like his videos, his enthusiasm really comes across, it's so refreshing to hear someone's opinion who is still capable of weighing up the pros and cons about new kit first before making a decision, rather than choosing one and dismissing the other entirely. He gave both a decent tryout, was pretty positive about the features set of both, and I'm sure we'll hear more from him on the subject.

It's also cool that he goes out of his way to state who bought him what, what his previous favourite console was, all that kind of info that sets the scene, it seems like he's got some integrity which I respect. That'll do far more for him than trying to keep every single press office happy.
I find it interesting that people put so much value in what others think. Not specific to this video, but why should I care what some dudes 'final verdict' is?
I don't know, why should anyone care what anyone else thinks? Maybe it just passes the time and is something forumites might enjoy seeing as we all haven't had the opportunity to spend hours playing the new kit with stacks of the launch games and their execs talking us through it? Seeing as he's had that opportunity for both, I found it interesting and entertaining, that is all he's trying to do.

I haven't seen much of this guy's stuff in the past but I have to say that was actually a great watch. It's refreshing to see someone give an honest, thoughtful, impartial opinion on the two consoles.

I don't think he really covers any new ground but it's great to see his reasoning behind his choices and it's clear that he's passionate about his hobby/past time.

The one thing that did surprise (and I've read a lot about it recently) is how much weight is given to Netflix on the Xbone. Doesn't the PS4 have a Netflix app as well? Is there something about Netflix on the Xbone (ignoring the UI alone) that gives it a clear advantage? Is Kinect enabled with Netflix or something along those lines?

boogie is the man for saying what he thinks and being open about why. The Gaming industry is poisoned by a bunch of marketing that doesn't agree with this.

*highfive*

Except I also have a WiiU and a PC. I want the best of all 4 worlds :P

I actually have a Wii U too! Just don't really every play it. I have Wind Waker HD and Sonic Racing Transformed. Waiting for the new Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart and of course Zelda.

He actually did go down the middle on this one. He gave positives and negatives for each system and ultimately never told anyone not to get one console over the other.

From the video summary:

In Summary:
Ps4: For gamers, by gamers. The ultimate game console and gaming system. its awesome. Whether its AAA titles like Second Son or Indie games like Contrast and Rezogun, these guys have an amazing GAMING console.
Xbox: A wonderful entertainment console... that also plays games. Enhanced tv watching, enhanced music/video streaming, built in skype, snapping a web browser onto your screen while you wait to matchmake your online games. Just a great entertainment experience (but you sacrifice somewhat on the video quality for games)

Pick the one that's right for you!

good video.

It really comes down to the games. Games are the reason why I buy a nintendo console every gen even though I usually hate everything else about the console. Sony has proven they are dedicated to providing a vast library of quality games you can only play on playstation. Microsoft still has to prove themselves IMO

Can't hate on him for his decision. The PS4 has the indies, F2P games, better multiplats out of the consoles, upcoming exclusives like The Order, inFamous, Uncharted, TLG, Rime, and a bunch of other quality 1st party studios all working on games for the system. It's going to be great for gamers.

I just think this guy is extremely heartwarming to watch when he does his down to earth videos like this. His content in regards to just being himself and down to earth is what I strive to achieve on my channel. Just shooting the breeze, expressing my thoughts without having to take aim at either side of the "console wars" . Ultimately he picks a side but in that picking he still remains postive for both products and I think that's honestly the best way to be. I'm loving my PS4 so far and can't wait to get that Xbox One as well come friday.

He is positive about both consoles, so I don't really see him taking a side.
Besides, he already prefaced by expressing how he slightly prefers Sony.

And like he said, it's all about the games. If one console is focusing on that fundamental aspect, and that focus actually shows in multiplat titles, then that gives the PS4 an advantage over the Xbone.

However, if the Xbone offers better exclusives, even with everything considered about the console itself, then it's easily my console of choice.

That's why I always wait a year+ for the software library to grow, and to see which system my fav devs are supporting, before choosing which console to buy first.

PS4 sets out to be a pure high quality gaming console and accomplishes that.

XB1 is a multifunctional entertainment center that also plays games. The apps and multitasking with voice commands are all great, gaming is good but not great.

He actually did go down the middle on this one. He gave positives and negatives for each system and ultimately never told anyone not to get one console over the other.
Not strictly true though. He did come down on one side or the other, depending on what you want.

His opinion was basically 'Want the vast majority of your console time to be about games? Get a PS4 over an Xbox. Want to trade a bit of gaming specs for social/TV stuff? Get an Xbox'.

He's absolutely on point except for the games aspect. That's absolutely subjective.

You can't go and say "PS4 have great games and X1 only good games" like it is the law. Less alone when those PS4 games have a very cold reception.

I'm going PS4 all the way because to me, is about the game. At this point, if you ask me, none of both is worth my money. I prefer the X1 launch line up a bit, but not enough to buy the console.

I'm fully on board for the PS4 but man I feel sad for Major Nelson on a personal level, the fact that he personally travelled to meet the guy and gave him an XboxOne to maybe bend his opinion but ends up doing fuck all.

Usually consoles start with the hardcore gaming and end trying to appeal to the casual market. I wonder how Xbox one's attempt to appeal to casuals will look near the end. Are they still in the late xbox mode where they will start going after casual a bit now already (NFL, Zumba, Zoo Tycoon)?
