Boogie2988 Ps4 Vs Xbox One - Final Verdict

Maybe I'm alone, but I don't care for the his man-baby character, nor do I really care for his actual personality.

Goes on and on about how he's a straight shooter and is sorry if it makes people mad, and how he won't take the 'middle ground'. Then proceeds to praise both consoles, and give a PS4 recommendation from himself and an XBO recommendation from the wife. Seems pretty down the middle to me, bro.

I still find it a bit disingenuous to suggest that the Xbox One is an entertainment console that also plays games. If you were uninformed, I'd understand since Microsoft's messaging has been pushed from that direction, but in reality, from what we know right now, the Xbox One is no slouch when it comes to game's library.

Or maybe he just does not care to take part in some ignorant fanboy console war and can appreciate both systems, while clearly stating his preference for one of them.

This. I'll have both eventually. But for launch? It's PS4 for me. Sorry, it's 100$ less and I don't need a camera included in my system. The PS4 will go in the gaming room. The XB1 will go in the living room.

He's owned and played probably every gaming console there was, and then he has a gaming PC on top of that. I don't think there's anything wrong with him having - and stating - his preferences while acknowledging each console's strengths. That's precisely why people care what he does.

I've only became aware of this guy in the past few months but I like him. I don't care for the Francis character much but I can see it for the satire that it is.

Boogie seems like a really down to earth guy that genuinely cares and isn't afraid to give an honest opinion. I like people like that.

That may be what it is for him right now, which is cool. But I agree with you. The fact that it has so many exclusives that appeal to me is what made me do a 180 on which system I wanted first. I see it as a great gaming system that is also doing all of this other stuff that makes it unique.

I respect Boogie's opinion and him having the guts to pick a side, but it seems like he had already made up his mind long before he got the consoles. He enjoys Sony games the most, and prefers those experiences over the competition's offerings. I get that, I'm that way with Nintendo. But then when he says the games are better (and great) on the PS4 right now I really have to question such a statement. Maybe BF4 looks better and is in a higher resolution then it is on the Xbone, but each launch lineup is very similar and arguments could be made for each console offering the better launch lineup. Either way, neither of the systems offer "great" gaming currently. Not enough to justify the prices anyways. The PS4 has one game over 90 on metacritic (PS3 port of Flower) and the highest rated exclusive is at an 83 (Resogun).

Don't get me wrong, I think the PS4 is currently the better investment long term (cheaper, stronger, and better first parties). But I think that Boogie recommending to his fans that they should admittedly rush out and buy a PS4 isn't exactly the best advice. Sure, if you have plenty of extra cash to blow then go ahead, but a lot of the best offerings are currently available on other consoles (that you most likely already own) and launch hardware is notorious for problems. If you really must play the new Dead Rising or Killzone then sure you should be buying these consoles day one, but otherwise it might be wiser to wait for more definite software to be released before taking sides in this "war".

That's my two cents anyways.

I honestly have no idea. Apparently he had a tough upbringing and you dare not criticise him on here.

Can't we just keep all the boogie stuff in one thread. Yes you guys are happy for him.
Or you could just do what any normal person would do and ignore threads that you have no interest in.

Great video as usual. Really makes those people who hated on his lightsaber video look ridiculous. He's a game, period. He likes both consoles but clearly loves the PS4, without being a fanboy.

As an owner of both, and first time day one Sony PS adapter, his opinions are very well thought out. At the end of the day folks, both will offer great games, and that's what it is all about. I just couldn't miss out on Sony 1P games this gen though :)

Edit: I'd like to add, I do wish he talked about the launch lineups a little more. Because imo at least for me (having bought KZ, don't know about Knack), I'm going to be enjoying the X1 exclusive games a bit more at launch (DR3 + FM5).

I think we really needed something like this... something to wash our pallets from the FUD that has been permeating the air for months, from certain people who have influential positions (however insignificant that may be) within their respected companies and It's another sign in the changing of the guard, with regards to the current state of media and the new wave of consumers speaking directly to other consumers... bypassing what I feel is a major strain on the gaming press, which is its sheer interdependency on publishers and manufactures. I think he did a great service to the community by not beating around the bush and sugar coating things. He wasn't overtly negative, if negative at all, but he was being honest and forthright with regards to what he feels many people are asking themselves right now. Hats off to ya, Boogie!

On another note, I wonder how Adam Sessler has to feel about Boogie's popularity and reach. In one instance, he should be happy that someone with the numbers Boogie pulls in is sending viewers his way, but on the other hand... he has to realize his own reach and influence is waining, right? I think the differences in the number of subscribers, views and likes is quite shocking, considering Sessler has been around for some time and built a very solid reputation for himself over the years.

Boogie's presence should be a wake up call to those in the industry who peddle misinformation and the like for clicks. This form of media, just like blogs at the start of last gen, is going to explode, and take a big chunk out of the current model. I just hope that they remember where they came from and how they got to where they are... because it would be a shame if this vicious cycle of dependence rears its ugly head again.

Nelson exits smiles awkwardly but then again I would hate to smile for pictures all day.
I understand where you coming from. Taking pics all day long with people probably gets tiring quick, you'll have to just go into that smile mode constantly. I'd probably do away with the forced smiling half day unless I get genuine good vibes and energy from the person taking the picture.

He's absolutely spot on, and most importantely, genuine.

Respek.

The one thing I've taken only watching 5 minutes is what he said about Sony. It's kind of what I've been echoing for months. These guys really love gaming and you can absolutely tell.

How the fuck could anyone not like his real personality? He's exactly what the rest of us should be, excited, honest, happy, likable, genuine, etc. You gotta be a pretty cynical or unhappy person to see one of his videos and come away thinking otherwise.

Bojan was in the last thread tossing around the negativity so I guess that's his thing.

This is the first time I've seen any of Boogies videos and I'm struggling to understand the difference between him and others that claim to “tell it like it is”. I really don't understand why everyone falls over themselves praising this guy. His evaluation of the PS4 and Xbox One was just poor imo.

Man, Larry spent 3 hours with the guy for nothing. I can't imagine he's too happy right now.
He should have known going into it that he wasn't going to be able to just "buy" Boogie's loyalty like that. And don't forget that Sony did the same thing last week. Boogie's a pretty good barometer for the gamer collective as a whole, so they need to consider that, too. he's not the only one that thinks this way. And really, he probably said all this to Larry's face, I don't think it would be like him to be all smiles for the camera (so to speak) and then talk shit once your back is turned.

As for the video, can't say I disagree with him.

Good job boogie.

Clearly states his own preference, and is capable of arguing why he prefers one system's strengths over the other.

Nothing controversial, no vested interest.

If only more people could be this measured in expressing their opinions. Ive seen too many dumb arguments about hddvd vs bluray, waggle, etc recently.

What was so poor about it exactly? This is just his opinion of what he wanted in a console and what he got and his final determination as to what he would pick if he only had the option to choose one. It so happens that he's got over a million subscribers on youtube, so he has a massive audience... and he got there by "telling it like it is".

^I found his analysis poor because he undermined the ability of the Xbox One to be a games machine without any credible proof to support his claim. He essentially said that the PS4 was the console for gamers and that gaming was a feature on Xbox One rather than the centerpiece, which again he has no grounds to make such assertions. I get that the PS4 is a more powerful machine, but only now has the less powerful console hardware been relegated to being less than a competent games machine. I don't think it's fair nor accurate. He clearly favors Playstation games (which is fine) but it diminishes his ability to be objective. Thus I have a hard time understanding the hooblah surrounding his opinion. Playstation fan prefers Playstation 4 in comparison to Xbox One, in other news the world is round.

So why are you here ?
Came for the comparison, came away unimpressed with both the comparison and the 'real' boogie.

Well I'm definitely cynical. I wouldn't call myself at all unhappy. I don't find him particularly genuine, but, whatever.

Boogie said he personally liked the ps4 more than the xbox one. His wife told him she enjoyed the xbox more. He probably burned bridges with Mircosoft division. I don't think that is going 'middle of the road'.

Breaking news, commenter points out things already said in the video. More at 11.

Perhaps he's tired of: Halo, Forza, Gears, Fable and it's ilk.

To be perfectly honest with you, up until this last week I had no idea he was really interested in Playstation. I always thought he was always a fan of the 360... but I digress, because it shouldn't hold too much weight when he's explaining the pros and cons to us as gamers.

So when they release a product that has to cater to many different demographics, certain aspects of the console will have diminished the overall quality of the games. Is that really a key talking point for what should primarily be a gaming console, at a higher cost, nonetheless? Now he said it himself, if you enjoy those things, then this is a console for you, but if you want to get a pure gaming experience, with some of those options, then the ps4 is the right choice... but hey it's just one man's opinion. You don't have to buy it.

Turns out that this "fat neckbeard" is a better journalist than most in the industry.

Here here! In total agreement. It is odd how much more I trust his opinion than any of the "official" reviews I have seen so far. He has always come across as honest to a fault and it makes me really happy to see how that is starting to pay off for him.

Pretty much. Despite the whole preamble of how people were gonna hate him, he didn't say a single bad thing about either product. So what was the point of that whole part of the video?
