Borderlands 3 on Nintendo Switch might not happen

The guy lies so much and funnel other companies money for their games into their on project that at this point I'm not sure many people or publishers believe him much anymore. If Borderland didnt sell so much the current publisher probably would have drop him like a bad habit.

I wonder if there is a mod on Steam that patches a SEGA logo into the intro credits on Borderlands, seen as how they paid for it and all.

I mean it's not a long conversation to have. Likely he doesn't have his publisher support and funding in place otherwise why would he drive that conversation?

I wouldn't trust him with a few quid let alone an agreement or investment.

I suspect any company is VERY interested in what a potential business venture has done in the past.

Apparently not Take-Two. Plus wasn't it all hidden? The only sources are Sega and a now defunct company that worked on it. If someone wanted to investigate him they wouldn't have much to go on.

He's not the first. Denis Dyack is like the only person in the industry to get punishment.

Yea, it's a shame that he gets to joke about CM once a year, having got away with it scott-free. Weird thing is that Dyack hasn't done anything nearly as bad as Randy IMO. I mean he hyped the shit out of a mediocre game, acted like a tit on GAF and horribly mis-managed his company and still doesn't come close to Randy.

Maybe they realized they were talking to Randy Pitchford.

"Sorry, what did you say your name was? Randy who?"

"Pitchford"

Dyack supports GG. He is worse than Randy.

Nevermind what kind of human being Randy himself is, what is more important is that Nintendo apparently doesn't care to get a highly acclaimed franchise that could become just as popular on mobile as MH. Same goes to Diablo 3 btw, loot based games fit mobile gaming perfectly.

You have absolutely no idea what discussions took place. None. Nobody here does. Let's not make assumptions.

Would the Switch be able to run Destiny? Never mind the large storage it would need.

It ran on PS3 and 360 so I can't imagine that would be a problem, unless you were referring to the sequel.

Unfortunately that is very relevant to the point you are making, Randy is a proven compulsive liar and cannot be trusted. This very well may be the case, but we would need corroboration from another developer.

Might not?
I have to laugh at this one since Nintendo never got any Borderlands and people think they'll "magically" get one.
Seriously, it's Nintendo, it's for the best to expect nothing from 3rd party, and if you bought a Nintendo console for its 3rd party, I have bad news for you...

It's really the time to accept this fact.

I mean Xbox One is getting KH3.

Please don't cancel please don't cancel please don't cancel.

Take Two probably just offered up something Nintendo wanted way more than a Borderlands port so they persued that instead. Fits the priorities comment too.

When Nintendo went with 32GB, it should have been clear they would not be receiving a lot of AAA support. Most them require tons of patches(that only seem to get bigger with some games)and post polish. It's not a surprise to me that they probably won't get games like this.

This is a good point.

How would patches be handled on Switch?

Lmao they literally just suddenly stopped communicating with a big third-party developer? Goddamn

Randy DID arse Nintendo around with Aliens: Colonial Marines. It went from the WiiU reveal trailer to being cancelled. Not that it would have been a big loss, but I'd hardly be surprised if he's low on their priority list after that fiasco.

Essentially.

I dunno if anyone cares about "best looking portable FPS" but whoevers first with 8 player drop in / out AD HOC deathmatch is gonna make some serious bank from the school cafeteria / college dorm / hipster tech startup rec room crowd
I wonder if it's feasible for the team working on the new UT to get on that. Because that would be wicked.

This is a good point.

How would patches be handled on Switch?
The same way they're handled on everything else. There's no way Nintendo would risk a patch corrupting a game card, or worse (in their eyes), being used as a vector for homebrew.

Look. I'm not defending Nintendo here, and it could very well be true... but we're talking Randy Pitchford here, Randy "Aliens: Colonial Marines" Pitchford.

I'm going to make assumptions because it's the foundation for speculations, you know that type of discussions we usually have over here if we don't have enough informations.

Oh I'm pretty sure Mr Pitchford is full of shit. I just can't compute how both parties couldn't come up with an agreement to get one of the most popular franchises around on Nintendo's most recent device, if you don't trust Gearbox enough get a subcontractor like Iron Galaxy to deal with your own version.

Btw, who's the IP-holder of Borderlands? If it's 2K I bet they have a saying in this afair too.

"We love the Switch, has amazing opportunities and potential, but we have nothing to announce or confirm for it at this time.

Watch this space though!"

then nothing happens

That's what we're in for all over again.

Watch it be a BioShock port.

Nintendo: "You'll give us BioShock?!?!" :D

Take-Two: "Yeah, sure."

*Reveals BioShock: The Collection*

Nintendo: "............................." :/

Gearbox, but I'd imagine 2K has been (and is, in the case of 3) partially funding development as it still has publishing rights across all of the games, with the obvious exception of Tales from the Borderlands.

I'd love a BL3 on the Switch, but as I already have a pc, I won't lose sleep if it doesn't come to the new console ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is a theory and opinion. Sega being good buddies with Nintendo now and might have spoke to Nintendo about what Randy did to them. Essentially took majority of the money to make bordelands while pawning of a game to another 3rd party. Nintendo probably do not want to go through what Sega went through.

I get that I'm alone in this thinking but this is not a big loss. IMO, Borderlands was the only big semi-well made series Gearbox had but that series has had so many games eating its lunch lately that it's hardly the unique series it once was. I see Borderlands 3 being a "hobby-grade", bad Destiny knock off (which I feel like would be ironic). These opinions are all colored by me feeling that Gearbox is a terrible developer.

It's not exactly an industry secret so I'm surprised that anybody would work with them after that.

On the flip side I can see B3 on the Switch being Nintendo's answer to Destiny seeing as how I doubt it's getting Destiny 2, which is going to be huge.

let me pick my jaw up off the floor.

I am a day one Switch buyer , but I am literally expecting big AAA releases to not make it. I have a PC for those. Switch is first party and whatever 3rd party was going to be released on 3ds, but better looking. I would love to be wrong so the platform got legs and unique third party IPs, but ...Nintendo and potato tech.

I am mentally prepared to have bought this system for Zelda, Mario, a new Metroid, Xeno 2 and the system to be on it's last legs in the 2020-21 range. Prepare for the worst etc..

Isn't 2K one of the third-party pubs making Switch games?

Until they've actually revealed games for it, I would take that image of all the company logos as a best case scenario. I can really see this thing having flaccid third party support - especially from Western publishers - just like the Wii and Wii U before it.

Are you kidding? They (Iron Galaxy) got a PS3 AAA game in a playable state on a fucking Vita. What do you expect exactly? It's way beyond what the Vita was originally designed to handle.

The frame hitching and bugs made it insufferable. It also took months after release to fix the worst bugs, and some have been left unpatched to this day.

Pitchford was an early cheerleader of the port and said that it wouldn't be a problem technically. He talks directly from his ass when money is on the line. He was a big part of selling Sony on the or by mobilizing social media and online communities in support of it.

You better hope you don't eat crow. lol

If Nintendo falls before Gearbox, I don't want to play video games again.

We already lost SEGA, a loss that gaming will never recover from. One of those losses that don't leave you whole anymore.
If we lose Nintendo too, then there is little point in me gaming anymore.

And the world keeps turning. Honestly couldn't care less. Wasn't expecting it to.

On a side note, it really bothers me when someone is like, "My purchase depends on [game that hasn't been on previous Nintendo console and also hasn't officially been revealed]." Like, just get it for whatever you clearly already have.
