This asshole from The Last Remnant.
Javier Jaguar in the original PS3/Vita/PC Guacamelee... not the nerfed version in the 2014 re-release.
In Xenoblade Chronicles, I thought people had much more difficulties with, especially those who never bothered to learn how Ether attacks worked.Lorithia
Nano-machines sonArmstrong - MGR

I would say that the Capra Demon was less about the mechanics of the game and more about pure luck/ knowing the best way to tackle the encounter.

I don't remember there being any bosses in this game except for the final boss.![]()
This game is not as easy as I thought it was going to be.
I dont get the Guacamelee posts. I never do. By the time you reach that boss the game has more than prepared you for it. You should already have the game mechanics down long before you reach that boss.
Git gud is my new favourite thing to say. Haven't heard that one before. Cheers for updating my gaming vocabulary OP
Ghirahim from Skyward sword since he pretty much made you learn how to use motion+ rather than swinging like crazy.
IhBlade Wolf - Metal Gear Rising

This encounter is basically asking you if you have grasped the parry mechanic. Many people get frustrated and drop the game here because the parry mechanic doesn't click with them, and the boss is very hard to defeat without getting skilled at parrying.

Fire Leo, Viewtiful Joe.
The game was pretty easy up until you fight him. Or maybe it was just me.
I recall that game being pretty face roll easy. Most bosses in Rogue Legacy. Everything on the way to these guys is a pushover.
Phantom from Devil May Cry 1
Hope you know how to use DT
Especially Vorkken

DEFINITELY VORKKEN
I haven't seen a single boss so early in the game force me to play the game completely differently. Vorkken will be especially difficult against people who haven't grasped basic concept of the game (or the controls) because there are literally no other enemies in the game remotely like him.
I mean look at this mess

Definitely Blade Wolf. Basically said 'This is how you parry and if you don't understand or can't deal with the camera control then you're not continuing.'

A friend of mine gave up there, because he just couldn't handle it.
I'm trying to think of boss fights where the game is basically telling you that everything you've had up to that point was a tutorial, and now the real deal begins. Final boss fights don't count, this has to be early/mid game.
Examples:
Ornstein & Smough - Dark Souls
These guys two-team you and force you to learn how to manage both enemies at the same time, dodge impeccably and time all your attacks super carefully so that you leave no opening and capitalize every opportunity.
Blade Wolf - Metal Gear Rising
This encounter is basically asking you if you have grasped the parry mechanic. Many people get frustrated and drop the game here because the parry mechanic doesn't click with them, and the boss is very hard to defeat without getting skilled at parrying.
Matador - Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
This battle asks you if you learned your buffs/debuffs properly and whether you grasp the press turn system. Very well designed fight, many have died at his merciless hands.
Let's talk about examples of this, but please post the name of the boss, name of the game and its explanation.
