Bosses that made you rage-quit/almost-quit on a game.

Fire_Leo_image.jpg

I'm still stuck on this one.

Fighting games are the only genre that never cease to piss me off with bosses. Fernandeath in Waku Waku 7 and Zeus in World Heroes Jet always made me cuss up a storm and pound the arcade cabinet repeatedly and hard and then walk away fuming a little.

Dark Fact from Ys 1 Chronicles.

The continual homing barrage of fireballs hitting you at all times. The ridiculous speed of the boss, who despite having a pattern is a nightmare to hit. Then to top it all off, everytime you do hit him, a significant portion of the floor where you hit him disappears at that point. To actually kill him, you have to remove most of the floor.

If it wasn't for the fact it takes less than 10 seconds to get back into the fight and the fight itself lasting under a minute itself, I would have broken many a joypad.

Edit: Look at this? Augh! (Spoilers for the end of the game naturally)

No Geese Howard mention? Fuck SNK bosses.

Also that liquid bitch from Dead or Alive 4.

Weltall id secret boss in Xenosaga 3 was hell.

All of the bosses in 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution'. If the rest (majority) of the game wasn't so damn good, I would of never played past the first boss.

Oh god fuck that guy! Don't even bother avoiding his attacks, that fight is just a race of you trying to kill him before you're dead.

Final boss of Resident Evil Revelations was stupid as fuck; beat the game last night, but whyyyyyyyy

I've seen so many people say this one, and outside of it just being stupid to have a turret during it I never would have guessed people had an issue with it. I wonder if I just got super lucky on my first run.

I forget his name, but the giant robot boss in Borderlands 2. He was almost unbeatable with a solo siren. AND the fucker kept regaining his heath when I died. It just didnt feel like he was balanced for solo gameplay. I also hate any boss who can regain their health back

Tekken 6, both Azazel and Nancy MI847J.
Also, Guilty Gear XX, I-No.
I'm so bad at fighting games and those bosses just screw all rules and go to town on you.

Rannoch in Mass Effect 3 on Insanity(fourth playthrough), there's a level that contains three Geth Primes. Bullet sponges and two-shots you, super not fun, I uninstalled it afterwards.

You don't have a turret during it. That's not the final boss.

Oh yeah, I remember which one everyone must be talking about then. People had a difficult time with it? Weird.

I wonder if I just ran Raid mode for so long and he is so easy because you get so stupidly overpowered I just can't remember the original encounter? Must be something like that.

This motherfucker right here

Owned FTL for months, played at least 30 hours, never once beaten it or made it past the Drone stage of that battle. I usually just fucking quit halfway through knowing i'mma die

Ninja Gaiden 2 final boss!

I made sure I killed him before 2009! I dedicated 2 days of my life to kill that thing and it wasn't even on the hardest difficulty but did it with 6 hours to spare. I know sad :(

Final boss in Vanquish on hard mode. How? How does anyone do it? The closest I got was taking only one of the health bars down to half. Had to knock the difficulty down to normal and was able to beat the game no problem.

Never beat the last boss in Devil May Cry 3. Wasn't really a rage quit though; tried it several times over the course of a couple days, couldn't beat me, and then just hung it up cuz I had seen the whole game anyway.

Flamelurker is one of the best bosses but to record. I beat him mano-y-mano, but it took me tons of tries. It was extremely satisfying.

I love a great boss.

Ugh, those dudes were more than hard enough on normal for me.

it was optional, but still was hard... and cheap.

Ozma from FF9.

This was terrible, he felt so damn random. I have beaten him with no trouble at all then in other runs been not able to hardly touch the bastard.

At least Omega and Yiazmat/Omega Mark XII while a pain, never felt like I was rolling a damn dice.

I think maybe a solid 2 weeks of trying and crying before I beat him. I've since learned there's a certain combo of abilities and spells that can destroy him quicker, but I had no idea at the time.

Here's another good one. De Rol Le is a fucking brick wall on normal mode for some classes IMO. I know when I was a young boy, my original HUmar was stuck on De Rol Le till I l learned Rafoie hahaha. You can so easily clear the Caves, reach De Rol Le and still be completely unprepared for it's onslaught. What is a android ranger expected to do at level 7 or 8, really? Forces have it easy though, Gifoie and Rafoie tear that ass up.

Also Dark Falz will check your ass real quick, need dat HP and Light resist for Heaven's Rain, the Pimp Slap and Grants.

I'm surprised so many people are stuck on Fire Leo, though I guess I shouldn't be too surprised since he's the hardest boss on the game by far. Its a shame, you guys are missing out on a great ending.

As for me, a boss I was tuck on for the longest time was Sensei from God Hand. I actually stopped playing the game for about a month because I just couldn't beat him.

I played it again after a month and beat him on my first try. How the fuck does that even happen.

M'uru

Pre-nerf we got to M'uru in Sunwell and after a full month+ (Monday-Thursday, 4 hour days) of attempts on him, I cracked and couldn't couldn't do it anymore. I lost it, and quit the game. I made sure before I quit though we had a equally geared tank to take my place though (I'm not that big of an asshole.) Not even HM Kael'Thas made me that angry.

I came back after the inevitable nerf two months later, killed it and didn't feel anything because of how cheap it felt.

Velius from FFT.

It's one thing to have random hard bosses. It's another thing to have a guy who is stupidly overpowered yet has an "it's a trap" style savepoint beforehand that prevents you from leveling/grinding/getting anything new to help you deal with it and no real warning of what's to come. The solo fight against that bastard Wiegraf right before doesn't help. My PS1 controller had never been in so much danger of being cracked before or since.

Sure, if you see it coming first, it's not that hard to "overlevel" for it, but no one ever did back then. I was lucky that I was able to learn Auto Potion and throw all my crappy ones out to help deal with Weigraf while I spammed that Squire speedup move on myself for multiple turns to his one. Horribly "cheap" but I figure if you're gonna pull some bullsh*t so am I.

Here are two more I was never able to beat:

Final boss of Paladin's Quest

And

Tiny from Wrath of the Black Manta (which I maintain is so hard that it makes Battletoads seem easy by comparison)

Some of the fights in ME2 on Insanity are just a pain the ass. The fight with the Collectors on the platforms on the derelict reaper ship. I must have tried that like 30 times before I got it down.

The final boss on the first Trauma Center game was just dumb. It was one of those enemies that could pretty much cause you an unavoidable game over if it decides to do three of his most devastating attacks in a row.

Giving up on the final boss sucks, but man that one was just too big of a bitch for me.
