BotW is the only game I can no-HUD for a better experience

While in Pro-Hud mode, do the markers you place visually show up in the world as beacons? Or do you still need to look through the scope to see them?

That was the good thing about MGSV waypoint system. You can mark things on the map, then while you were exploring the world you could still see the marker.

Other than that the world is expertly crafted. There are such strong landmarks in the game, it's easy to get your barrings just by looking around.

Interesting, I'll have to give this a try. I do wish that you could pick and choose elements of the HUD to keep or remove though, rather than an all or nothing deal

You have to look through the scope to see them with pro HUD.

There is no "Augmented Reality" hud for pins or stamps in either mode.

You have to look through the scope to see them with pro HUD.

Edit: Or I'm wrong? I've been playing in Pro mode so long, I might have forgot.

I'm with you brother OP

Don't need a minimap in this Zelda because it's designed really really well. Pathways and landmarks stand out. Just look at the map for general direction guidance and embark

I do miss the controller help though that goes away with pro. Controls sometimes not intuitive and I forget how to do things. They still pop up quickly for new immediate actions, but they don't tell you how to pull in and push out magnetized objects anymore and things like that

I LOVE not having the game tell me what the controls are all the time. I turned on Pro mode before even starting the game, so I had no idea what exactly I'd turned off. Until, at one point, some item said something about the mini-map. So I turned it back to Normal for a moment. And I saw the whole HUD for the first time, and it isn't so bad.

Then I got on my horse, and the screen popped up "L=soothe, A=go" or something like that.

And I immediately said "Oh hell no" and turned it back off. The controls that do display on Pro are more than enough. I'll figure out the rest myself.

I thought I'd miss the minimap, but I don't. I love it. It really helps immerse you in the world that much more. There are enough landmarks that I haven't had to check my map the religiously. I'd recommend everyone at least give it a shot.

I've been on pro mode the entire game, no regrets. You'd think the minimap would be needed but I've been fine just wandering in the general direction of where I want to go.

I played Pro Mode for a few hours and I realized I wasn't enjoying myself at all. Spent all of that looking for the first few shrines to get the paraglider with no success.

Turned it back on and I had a blast again.

I turned it off before even starting the game, forgot that I did and have been enjoying myself. Was real confused when people were mentioning minimaps and noise meters.

It lets me just walk to wherever I find interesting. Awesomely enough, during my aimless meandering I was hailed by Zoras and somehow found my way to one of the story objectives. It was awesome and super natural. They needed a Hylian, I was a hylian and in the area. Sure I'll help you out. Story went from there.

Reporting back after playing on Pro mode yesterday's afternoon and I really don't plan on going back to normal HUD, pro is ace.

It really makes it even more apparent how well designed the world is. It has tons of recognizable landmarks and vistas so it's pretty easy to know where you're going.

Having the map on the gamepad would have been a cool middle ground but eh, Switch parity!

Anyways, thanks for making this thread OP! Can't believe I didn't stick with no HUD after first trying it.

I found this while playing with HUD on, but I wasn't following the story quest marks on the map at all, so it took me by surprise. This game is so damn fun and well designed, the long wait was definitely worth it.
