Worth a headline based on Monday night. Not official but this came in from ESPN:

@AdamSchefter
As @mortreport is reporting, an agreement between NFL and NFLRA is at hand and both sides will work to have officials working this weekend.

The damage is already done. I was ready for a whole season of blown calls. Would be funny.

You give the current refs too much credit. I think some people forgot how bad the normal refs are.

Word is, the returning officials will be quickly transferred to the CBS Patriots center for brainwashing. Any defender's breath on Tom Brady will result in a penalty once again.

Never forget

Never have I ever seen something so outrageous. Incredibly bad man. Its about time they pulled their heads out of their asses and pay those refs.

Can someone explain what happened to a know-nothing like me? Cheers

The CBA between the nfl and the refs expired, they didn't have a new one in place by the start of the season, so the nfl hired replacements.

The replacements have been fucking things up like you wouldn't believe.

Best damn news I've heard in a long ass time.

It had to happen. My guess is that the refs got all or most of what they wanted. They had all the leverage, the owners lost.

They'll never do that and they probably shouldn't unless they're prepared for everyone to demand that the outcomes of other games get changed.

Correct. Changing the call could set a dangerous precedent. Unless they simply also award the Packers a win. (which would cause a slew of other issues)

After the Patriots-Ravens game and Packers-Seahawks game (and I'm sure many others), Goodell realized his sport was dying with these crap refs.

I've been hearing a lot about this. Can someone summarize WTF happened?

CBA was up between NFL and referees. NFL wanted to make post retirement benefits a 401k when it was a pension and the refs wanted it to stay a pension. NFL locked out refs and hired replacement refs. Replacement refs have been screwing up* more than regular refs and blew a game on monday night football.

*Some would argue.

Well a ref once did fuck up an overtime coin toss.

Real refs are still human beings.

Problem with the scabs was that they just had no control over the games, kept disrupting the flow, made bad calls consistently, didn't know basic rules, flubbed replays, and, worst of all, had zero respect from coaches or players. It wasn't a matter of just screwing up judgement calls, they failed at the most fundamental levels.

Thanks for this! Time to find clips of games they fucked up! :lol

Season so far has been using replacement refs, refs from college, high school and other. There have been numerous questionable calls (and just as many things not called), and it came to a head Monday when the refs handed the Seattle Seahawks a win on a botched call.

What I didn't understand about this is wouldn't it be subject to review? What about a fourth official reviewing this would change with the regular refs? It's not a heat of the moment mistake nor a misunderstanding of the rules, so what happened?
What should have influenced this decision was the Raiders player who got knocked unconscious without a penalty being called as that demonstrated the danger of refs who couldn't control a game.

They better get it done soon. The last two televised games showed how much a sham the replacement refs have been. Strike a deal and restore the integrity of the on field proceedings.
