Brief new The Division clip looks great

Errr, you can just do it via Amazon so you can cancel it after receiving the code.

But Amazon is via credit card, right? I can never buy stuff from there. Ah well, maybe i'm lucky and i get a code, has happend with plenty of betas now. Except for Gigantic and Fable Legends.

Alpha should mean it will look even better in final release? Although i really doubt that. Another delay really wouldnt surprise me anyway.

Alpha is just a phase of production, and what the game looks like at that phase can be anything. It can look good or bad. Generally things will not be content complete at alpha, Beta usually denotes content complete.

This game is liable to suffer some the same issues as other open world games that entered into production long before the generation started, namely Unity, WatchDongs, Witcher etc. This means either a downgrade visually or technically and/or poor performance. It appears that this game is currently suffering from all three.

I kinda want to play this. I might buy it depending on how much I can do solo since there is no chance in hell I'll do multiplayer. I got burned by Destiny as a solo player.

Not sure I am at all interested in this game... it feels like it is lacking something... something major.

I just don't know why I would want to try this game...

Bad news, #TheDivision is in real bad shape. I hope an delay can fix it. #PS4 #XboxOne

What I'm hearing, running bad on consoles, low on content and not fun 2 play. Makes me sad. But I hope they fix it!

Sounds like a Ubisoft game!

Played it at Gamescom and left with a really bad impression.

Did not look good, did not play well - just very underwhelming.

Spoke to a lot of people who felt the same.

Still hope it turns out great.

That's disappointing. Hopefully they can turn it around in time. From day one it sounded a bit nebulous + ambitious (which is the worst combo possible).

Hugely sceptical due to Ubisoft recent track record making functional games with decent online play.

Seriously, i almost NEVER have problems with my pc games, i rarely have to mess with drivers, or settings, i usually just turn everything up and let it rip. No worries.

But i got the new Rainbow 6 beta, and the first game the lobby bugs out and no enemy team ever gets matched up.

Then i finally get into a match and there are just giant graphical artifacts all over the place. The kind you get when you oc you gpu too much. Even when its at stock speeds. I was like thank god this happened so i didnt waste my money

How many times has this game been delayed now?

I don't have the same optimism as you, a gif of some guy spinning around isn't doing anything for me.

That's weird, Massive's games usually play nicely, mechanics-wise.
Either way, beta is soon on XBO, it'll show how it is.

Damn. So gameplay wise just not any fun then?

And this Tidux....a nobody or actually reliable?

Don´t put too much weight on what I say. I played it for 30 mins at a convention....

All you get there are quick impressions. Some games take hours to get into.

Anything is possible.

;)

Hope this game will wash away the bad taste left by Destiny and scratch that itch for me but it's Ubisoft so who knows.

Mechanically speaking, isn't this game basically Destiny in a Tom Clancy world skin and added potential for team mate griefing?

Because I was pretty interested until more details started to come out and it looked more and the impression I got of it became that.

Possibly but there's nothing wrong with the base concept of destiny the execution was just really bad.

That;s true man. Plus a dude on Reddit said he played it too and he was very satisfied with what he played. We'll find out soon enough. :)

I am going to look into that Amazon thing.

Here's hoping it has improved. I don't think Ubisoft would like this game to tank after years of development.

I'd well believe it's in bad shape still. Was a few months back. They should delay it if needed. Fall 2016 would be fine. It's got a good formula it would be a shame if they released it full of bugs and broken. A MCC size problem could literally ruin the IP

Nah, excellent game.

I personally don't listen to random twitters on these kinds of things. But panning the camera around a single character doesn't really disprove performance issues claims nor does it show gameplay.

I'm sure someone can make a quick 8 second clip of the camera panning around a character in Fallout 4 and arrive at similar results.

With that stated, I believe Massive at the very least will put out a decently fun game that has acceptable performance. Well I believe that over a tweet anyway. Beta is a month away...for XBO so we'll see. I'll put money on it being a fun time.

Looks great for sure. If it's chained to the typical ubi formula template though, count me out. I don't want to climb towers to reveal things, or collect a million pointless items. I'd love for an open world Ubisoft game to finally break the trend though.

My largest worry for this game is that it will be another Destiny in that it'll have a small amount of actual content that you're expected to grind over and over for little ultimate reason/reward.

Hope not. But that's the vibe I'm getting.

That sounds great.

I'm not gonna start adding an "imo" to all of my sentences. If the matter is subjective chances are good it's an opinion.

Seen as it was my post that kinda triggered this, I'll just say that I don't really want to derail this thread by leading it into a "Is Destiny a good game or not" discussion. Some people love it, and for them something similar could be right up their alley. That's ok.

For those like me who feel pretty burned by Destiny for reasons
Economies, grinds, disrespect for your time, lack of content etc etc
I don't want to dwell too much on, I'll just say that adhering to its formula makes The Division less appealing than what we may have thought when the game was initially presented to us. This is also ok.

As more info about how the PvE/PvP was revealed, the meta-game implications of team-killing, extraction zone camping, loot theft and other wonderful behaviours that are basically dev-incentivised griefing can easily sour what could be a great co-op experience. People act like assholes in a lot of games as it is. Its not a stretch to guess how they will play when there are tangible benefits for it as well.

Saying that though, it all depends on the exact implementations of their game. Maybe they have learned from Destiny's mistakes and won't make them at launch. Maybe they will make their own. Who knows. My general point though was if you aren't so into what Destiny "is" then The Division might not be for you. And if you do like it then maybe it is for you. Both of those are ok.
