Winton definitely deserves being remembered.

I knew who he was, but actually did not know he was still alive.

I'd call him a righteous gentile, but he too was a Jew. Hero, decent person, and humble too, the world lost someone great today.

R.I.P.

I'm happy to see so many coming in who didn't know who he was and taking the time to find out and pay respects. Thanks guys.

My country almost ruined his attempt to get the children out of Czechoslovakia by way of a Dutch ferry in a misguided attempt to stay 'neutral'.

All the cowards can't keep a single hero down. RIP.

A truly admirable, gold-made man, our country is losing legends one by one these days. :(((

he will never be forgotten. Build a statue ASAP

I knew the name looked familiar. I actually only recently learned about him through a WWII PBS special a few months back. People like this make me want to try harder. I admire his heart. :(

And he kept quiet about it for 50 years.

That's humbleness.

Plus he still did not consider himself a hero. Truly a humble man.

Amazing how many lives and generations he saved by doing this, all before WW2 when he could have simply sat and done nothing due to no immediate danger. Transporting and arranging lives for 669 kids is astonishing, i can't imagine even trying to do that for 1 child, yet alone 669.

What an incredible person.

That That's Life video of him meeting some of those he saved was very emotional. I only remember That's Life for talking dogs and funny number plates, can't remember such serious pieces being part of the show.

The most impressive thing is maybe how he didn't bother to make this public. That's some admirable humbleness.

Exactly. I just heard of him today but i have massive respect. He didnt gloat around saying "Yeah, I saved hundreds of kids! Love me!"
Dude was humble and did what was right. He was a real hero.

Gotta give it to Winton. Went out of his way for the children. Sucks for the children that couldn't make it out. RIP

Also, Mexican Schindlers death coming up on July 4th. His name is Gilberto Bosques Saldívar. Gave out about 40,000 visas to mostly Spaniards and Jews to travel to Mexico to flee from the Spanish Civil War/Franco regime and the Nazi regime.

That bit where he was in an auditorium unaware that they children he saved were sitting in the seats around him but as adults...

Whose chopping those onions man?!?!?!
