You're not disagreeing with me. You just don't like your preferred style of game being (correctly) called out as a game of competitive hide-and-seek. The second quoted sentence is absolute nonsense; there is not a single FPS in existence where you are rewarded for being out-maneuvered. What actually exists are games where the first-shot advantage is not so heavily weighted as to make all other aspects of the gameplay irrelevant.Igo said:I don't agree with this at all. If you're getting shot in the back then it means your in game spacial awareness is shit and you deserve to die. The player who managed to catch you with your pants down should be rewarded for out manoeuvring you, not the other way around.
Well Fallout 3's shooting mechanics are orders of magnitude better than its (combat) RPG mechanics, so what should it have?SalsaShark said:I know, but it shouldnt, and it doesnt![]()
Halo 2 Brutes were no match for the Battle Rifle/Carbine. The main issue is shooting off the faceplate. After that, you just need a single headshot. Easily can drop a Brute with less than half a clip.MagniHarvald said:Gears of War. Halo 2 Brutes.

There's always the Needler as well. It does take quite a bit to drop a Brute with plasma weapons though.MagniHarvald said:With the Carbine it's much better, true. The problem's the stretches when you no longer have Carbine ammo..

Are there any games where using the butt of a weapon doesn't automatically kill someone?
Yeah they are, but at least you can "juggle" them when they're stunned. I'd have to play it again but I remember that being kind of neat!olore said:I`m playing through Medal of Honor: Allied Assault now on Easy and I`ve really found the enemies to be real bullet sponges.
Also intend to do the expansions Spearhead and Breakthrough
I just started replaying this last night and took this advice, and yeah, its a night and day difference in the early game. Have a high specced agility character and I bought a hunting rifle off of one of the megaton caravans right from the get-go. Even center of mass shots while hidden drop bandits and just about everything else in one hit. And you can get the Hunting Rifle extremely early in the game. The Sneak Critical Bonus is a godsend.

If you're supposed to use a plasma/covie weapon on a dude to pop their shields and then spray them with a human weapon (DMR/Battle Rifle/Assault) I really really wonder why the Covie army didn't just learn that and then own Masterchief. (Oh wait, he has super speed and strength, my bad)
Again, I like the game. But the shields could pop a little faster for some (pretty shitty) default weapons like the A. Rifle. Not to completely change the game, just make the kill speed slightly faster.
