I'm surprised they cared that much about taking the Destiny IP. They could throw darts at a wall full of generic ideas that could come up with just as good of a world.
No chance. Activision stock will take a hit from this. Activision will hold on to any brand they can that makes money. They are only giving this up because the studio demands it, and they must have had the power to do that in their initial contract. They probably got it because Activision thinks the brand is poison.
Activision had nothing to do with their shitty tools and game overhauls. They gave Bungie a lot of rope - enough to hang themselves with Destiny 2.
[QUOTE="border, post: 253707596, member: 518" I've kinda stopped playing since October, but a full sequel or revamp would probably get me back in.
That must have cost a fortune.
My sentiments as well. It's too early to "celebrate" Bungie's independence. Painting Activision as the evil overlord is easy but I got the impression from all the rumours and write-ups of development troubles of Destiny 1 and 2, that Bungie made a lot of the bad decisions themselves. Maybe there was pressure from Activision to do so but still, we don't actually know yet how Bungie will fare on their own.All the creative resets and technical hurdles were problems of Bungie's own making. I dont doubt Activision monetization oversight was a detriment, but I can't see how this split equates to a brighter future for Destiny. It just means Activision saw more value to its internal studios working on other projects instead of churning out expansions to save Bungie's lackluster base installments.
Watch Microsoft buying Bungie now. You heard it here first.
It doesn't work that way, only if Bungie is on the market, and if I remembered well they were once owned by Microsoft and they bought their way out.I believe they will want to stay independentWatch Microsoft buying Bungie now. You heard it here first.
Don't know why people are so excited with Bungie, they made terible game with Destiny
Don't like Activision Call of Duty game either but with game like Crash, Spyro and CTR they absolutely have the better offering
I know Activision is hated around here but if I have to pick between Activision or Bungie il pick Activision all day
No way they are going to stay independent with the size the studio has. Just imagine how much money they are burning each month on salaries alone... I do not think they'll be able to do this for long with contract work, especially considering how messy their dev cycles tend to be.It doesn't work that way, only if Bungie is on the market, and if I remembered well they were once owned by Microsoft and they bought their way out.I believe they will want to stay independent
No,Activision gave Bungie money to make a new IP,I don't think the quality of Destiny has anything to do with Activision,at least this is what I kind off feel about that gameCrash and Spyro are remakes, yes? That doesn't say much in terms of Activision still having the ability to create new IPs.
At least Bungie gave Activision Destiny which itself is still a popular IP.
We'll see, they have Destiny they can go free to play, change things to that game, look at the guys who made Warframe and look at Insomniac, they're independent and with the latest Spider Man their value increased, sure It doesn't work for everyone, but don't be sure of things to comeNo way they are going to stay independent with the size the studio has. So...how to play D2 on PC now since it's using the Activision launcher?
That will probably remain the same since Activision was the publisher for that game.
If they come out with a new one however, Bungie is free to do their own thing if they self publish.
Calling it now. Their next game will probably be a Playstation and PC exclusive.
This is from an xbox gamer.
This is for the best. I don't think Bungie will be joining anyone for a while. They just removed their ball and chain.

Holy shit... is that... the smell of... no, it can’t be! .....wait......integrity?....in a video game company?
Fuck Activision
What's to laugh about,of course they can,if Sony goes to them and asked them to make an exclusive game that Sony will financing it,and if the deal is good, they will, they need to get payed,Bungie is a big team they need money, look at Insomniac, they made a game for Microsoft and after that they made Spider man for PS4,because they get money for doing it.LOL
Not going to happen
I'm more curious about how they'll handle the PC version of the game. They had Vicarious Visions to help them with it. Can they manage to handle it themselves?
That failure still brings 350k players per day only counting Crucible... if you add the single-player mode it don't know where it will be. It is something games like Battlefield never reached and only CoD have better numbers.I wish bungie the best. For me destiny was a failure. I bough it on launch played it for two months and couldnt after that. It felt empty and repetitive and for the fans out there I hope good things come.
A simple patch removes the Battle.net launcher... it is only there for PC version. Can't imagine Destiny remains on the Battlet.net launcher.
