Bungie's Next Project - 'New Halo 3 Campaign Experience'

Jeez. At least read before you spew words. A lot of people were not following the Bungie tease. Not everyone understood the terms that led you guys to realize it was a Halo related game. It was never actually 'revealed' that the SI was part of the Halo universe. Even when Mattrick said Bungie was working on a Halo game no one thought that was a reference to SI but rather to one of the other 2 games being made alongside the SI project.
Of course not, which means those people were uninformed. Meaning that it's completely reasonable to call them uninformed. Duh.

Damn, why did Bungie leave Microsoft to be an independent studio again?

Meh, don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the game either way.

Because theyre working on more than one thing.

Dont worry youre the 45th person in this thread alone who finds that concept difficult to grasp.

You also said it was ignorant and unrealistic of them. Heaven forbid someone isn't following every step of a tease that definitely went on far too long. Sure you post a lot in the Official Halo 3 thread but try being a bit more tolerant. Not everyone is as l337 as you :lol

12hrs is too long?

Im not buying this if its all flood based drama. I cannot believe Bungie keep insisting that they are fun to fight against.

Its not fun to fight mindless, uncharismatic enemies that don't care if they die. They just charge you. There is no sense of accomplishment or satisfaction from taking them down, because the exact same bastard i ripped apart is magically back and with even more of his friends, but from a different angle.

I have no interest in this if it Flood. Please let it not be flood.

Different strokes for different folks. I enjoy fighting the Flood.

I dont have quite the objection to Flood fighting that you do. But Id prefer if Bungie gave us Covenant Elite encounters. The Elite is one of the best enemies in any game with some of the best AI Ive experienced.

When you have that at your disposal its a crime to use the something like the Flood in its place.

Thanks Ascendant. I always wondered what those rib like metal cages were doing, strewn about along the first stages of Halo 3's campaign levels. Felt bungie didn't do us justice with explaining that.

they probably had their team work on this, while they fought with MS for their indepedence. now free, they started a few projects which won't be shown until next year.
and I welcome this news.

This ^

As for the story i would be much happier if it was based around humans fighting covenant with the flood as sort of a third wheel getting in the way. I felt their role in halo 3 was far to big.

Also i just can't express how disappointed i was with the arbiters story in halo 3. His story arc in halo 2 is what made me love the game so much and to see it thrown to the wayside felt like a waste.

You and I can keep hoping for a campaign expansion focusing on the Arbiter..

I think any huge Halo fan would want that. I agree that Halo 3 ruined the Arbiter's story; wish Bungie went with Halo 2's campaign in that the Arby and the Chief has their own missions.

Halo without the MC is like Mario with no Mario imo.

I think it's more like, Halo without a giant ring planet is like Mario without Mario.

And I'm positive this game will feature a giant ring planet in some manner.

Between the times of Halo 2 and Halo 3, isn't there 3 spartans on Earth? Fred, Will & Linda? This is before Dr. Halsley send out the message for help from Onyx to Earth.
The wiki says Lord Hood sent the 3 spartans to Onyx (from Earth) to help Dr. Halsley and the other SPII's.

No, its like Seinfeld without Jerry.

New Bungie project = The Michael Richards Show

effyea

apparently you're only a true fan of halo if you have a minimum of 1000 posts in the official thread and 5000 games played.

otherwise you only have a passing interest in the series and have no right to be disappointed by the shitty teaser.

the books are not treated as canon by bungie so none of that really matters

I never understood that.. why release them in the first place if they do not affect the storyline of the franschise? Easy money of course but still..

Why not make sure whatever Halo-media is released qualifies as canon?

i'll just post them here, k?

1472 games played
209 posts in the official thead

as you can see i fall way short and am clearly not a fan :(

Come back when your games to posts ratio is up to snuff and we'll talk then. Also, please return with a more positive attitude about the teaser. If you require assistance, please contact me in private for specific actions you can take to make your Halo 3 Official Thread experience a more productive experience.

Thank you.

What gives you that impression?

If someone isn't informed as to what will come at the end of the tease, then they are uninformed. They are also ignorant to the situation. And if they have expectations that have already been ruled out, then their expectations, by definition, are unrealistic. I don't see why you're having so much trouble grasping this. I wasn't insulting them, I was just saying what they are: ignorant to the situation, having unrealistic expectations, and being uninformed.

This isn't very complicated.

Or GTA without Tommy Vercetti.

I wish more game universes would expand upon their stable of heroes with games of their own. It didn't work for MGS2 cause Kojima tried to pull a fast one on us. It works for GTA cause they're up front about it from the start. It ALMOST didn't work for Halo 2 (again, surprise), but now everyone loves Arby, right?

Halo again? Remember when Bungie made games that weren't Halo 3? I can't.
You must be one year old then. :p

Bungie has three projects in the works, in addition to new Halo 3 maps. This is one. Halo 3 only came out one year ago.
