Burnout Paradise being re-released through PSN

Day-motherfucking-one! I was interested in getting a copy at $40 but this is too sweet of a deal. Thank you Criterion!

If I didn't already own this on 360 I would probably jump on this. It's the same price as the disc but there's no tax and having it on the drive just waiting to be played is nice.

HUGE!! This is the beginning of the end.....

...for Gamestop.

If this becomes a larger trend for EA, I wonder if Gamestop is going to try to boycott their games or something, like what they did with Warhawk.

It won't work

Wait, Gamestop really boycotted Warhawk?

There were reports that retailers were upset with Sony because the PSN version of Warhawk only cost 40 while the retail version was $60 (despite the fact that the retail version came with a headset). With SOCOM they're releasing 2 versions of the game in retail, one with a headset that's $60 and another that's standalone and costs $40.

How would they get around people renting the game to download it though?

What if... we could mail them our copy with our PSN name?

I know, logistically retarded.

Perhaps people that have logged in a certain amount of steady hours? idk... i guess $30 isn't that much :/

And aren't they gonna be charging for the bike update anyway? So that'd kinda be a discount, right?

What if more multiplat games do this? Since they have to limit to the dvd size it could actually turn into a positive for PS3 owners. Well when it became a greatest hit perhaps.

This is fucking awesome

Only exclusive to PS3? It would be 2400 space bucks on XBLM. I think it might show up later..

I'm thinking probably not. 360's base has way too many splinters in it (Core, Arcade, Premium; with Core and Arcade owners not being applicable to this type of download)) for this to be worth their time. Not to mention the points system is crummy for higher priced titles on an aesthetic level.

As for the argument of the install, there's something about being able to just jump right into the game without having to swap discs. This is how Gemoetry Wars and other solid DL games got me was it's accessibility in not only gameplay, but in loading it up as well!

320GB hDD FTW

seriously awesome though, i find with wowhawk that having it on the HDD makes impluse gameing sessions that more likely, not needing the disc in the ps3 is huge for me.

warhawk and burnout paradise are two of the tentpole DLC games this gen , so loving these guys

You can't expect that because then people will just go out and rent the game and install it onto their hard drive instead of buying it at all.
Insert the disc every week or so. I could live with that. :)

If this does well, I hope other publishers consider doing this for 10GB or less games. I guess I'll be upgrading my hdd this fall :D

i was upset too, i would have owned warhawk if i could have bought the disk version day one.

Judging by the reaction to the Mass Effect DRM plans, a lot of people wouldn't be as happy.

I suspect EA doesn't want to deal with that twice.

I did my part. I asked about buying this game in my PSN comment, and got a ton of replies telling me I should. I ordered it a few days ago. I'd rather have this game on BD with all the content it's getting. This is a great idea re-releasing it on PSN. PEACE.

This is a HUGE shit right in Gamestop face. I hope EA does this with more games on PS3, because then people will completely stop buying used games, and they will have nothing to sell back.

Just a question, will Sony let them have full profit for this, or will some go to Sony?

slighty OT: does the ps3 support 500 giga HDD?

btw, i was planning on buying this one, now that i heard it's coming to the PSN i think i'm going to buy it from ther... oh, wait, it's US only :(

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeves!

yes, and more.

The only known limit on the HDD is a physical one--the drive has to be able to fit into the system.

Or you could use an adapter and have a 3.5" hanging out the back.

You know, I might just buy it again. These guys deserve the support... I can't imagine how they're really making money to sustain all of this support... but I know nothing of their economics.

I -know- one of the big updates coming is going to cost money, so if it's the bike one, and it's included, and still $30, then it's even less of an issue.

Criterion are UK based so hopefully this will be coming to PAL land too.

Some will always go to sony due to it being made to play on PS3. I'm pretty sure they charge for putting the game up for sale on PSN too.

Hmm... speaking of, I wonder if we'll ever see a DD rental service.

I read up on the ME thing, and that's kinda different right? I mean you don't have to use the internet, at least I hope not, even if you do it shouldn't be like the HL2 fiasco where no one had internet. And putting in the disc for a 10sec check doesn't seem so bad. If you stop playing for a longer time you just put the disc in again and remove it while playing. If people complain about that they need to get shot

Now if the check would take a minute or longer, I could understand. edit, actually it still wouldn't be that horrible as long as you could play the game while it's checking up. They should do it like an arcade, everytime you put the disk in you get 10 days of credit!

I don't think they'll let us disc people download it for free, or install the game. We could just sell the game to Gamestop basically for free money

DMPrince said:
unless you misplace the disc especially during a day that may have a tourney :lol
You would have the same problem if you didn't install the game at all, so no disadvantage there.

And Burnout tourneys? really?

I don't get it. How is this 'awesome', 'brilliant' or 'perfect'? I'd always prefer retail discs over digitally distributed titels. MS does the right thing with the 360 by offering to optionally install every game on hard disk.

Digital distribution will win soon enough, no need to push it already.

Are you ignoring all of the people in this thread enjoying not having to deal with a disc to play whenever you want?
