• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Burnout Paradise (PSN version) will be released this Thursday (25th Sept.)

It's Burnout, BCR and Wipeout HD for 60 bucks for me.

Fuck you, gamestop!! And fuck the 8 dollars trade in you would give me on all three games in a year!

I own the PS3 disc version.

I'll be VERY interested to see how it plays out if someone in my situation downloads the game.

Will the game data (updates/patches) be applicable (meaning, I wouldn't have to redownload it all)? Same question for the save games (since they're supposedly "locked").

I'd love to have this on my HDD.

By like a dollar or two if you look around.
And you will have to use a disc which sucks.
Whats wrong with the disc version that makes it so inferior to the dl version?

Wow, this is a great deal. I gamefly'd the game awhile back, and enjoyed it. Turned it back in for something else, but kind of wanted to try it some more, especially if GAF was still interested in online modes. Might have to spend more money to DL this.

Nothing wrong with the game obviously. But I'm ten times more likely to impulse play something when it's on the hdd.

Greatest PSN week EVER confirmed. May never be surpassed.

I'd really like to know how much space it's going to take though...including all the downloadable content...

Fl0wer, Fat Princess & mega man legends in one week? That'd be awesome enough for me.

Never would happen for various reasons, I think Speevy is on the right track.

Well holy shit this is much earlier than I expected :D I really need to get a psn card maybe a $50 one. I want to get this and Wipeout or GT5:P. I might wait for GT5 but that could be years...

Oh and I hope more developers start thinking about doing this. Also I think releasing old full retail games could really boost sales on older games. I haven't bought Burnout paradise yet but I will definitley pick it up before Christmas on psn.

You just wait until SCEE/SCEA decides to release the massive library of PSone titles that they've been stocking up for the last few months, now that will be an epic week. Oh yes, an epic week.
...
Oh yes.

They need to comment on compatibility with existing saves.
I already sold my disc copy. I'll entertain the idea of buying the dl version, but if it doesn't work with my existing save.... fugedaboudit.

Okay, pretty stacked week, but what does the PSN do for an encore?

Just the games we know about (and a lot of PSN releases don't get announced until a few weeks before release) include:

Age of Booty
Alien Sports: Minigolf
Assault Heroes
Burn Zombie Burn!
Cinnamon Beats
Codename Cops Maxim Pinball
Crash Commando
Fat Princess
Flock
Flower
Geon Emotions
GTI Club
Lumines Supernova
Penny Arcade Adventures
Prince of Persia Classic
Ragdoll Kung-Fu: Fists of Plastic
Red Baron Arcade
Sarah's Emergency Room
Savage Moon
Skygods
SOCOM Confrontation
Soldner-X
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle Cars
Switchball
Undertow
Wheel of Fortune

They should be able to maintain 4-5 releases per month from here on out. PSN finally turned the corner in June.

wow, much sooner than i was expecting. i wasn't expecting this to show up for another few months. sorry wipeout hd, i'm gonna have to give criterion my monies.

mega man 9 on wii, duke nukem 3d on 360, burnout paradise on ps3. all my consoles are getting some love this week

I need to sell my disc copy and get this. My PS3 is my movie player so I'm currently switching between this game and The Wire a few times a day. I would play more often if I didn't need the disc.

This is one godly PSN week. Sadly for Criterion I will be glued to TV playing WipEout HD, either that or I'll be spazzing out on the ground in a puddle of my of drool.

I was thinking this.

Guys, the retail game is cheaper than this download.
Because quick jump in and play / jump out games are more suited as downloads, to me at least. Easier to play that way while something more 'epic' that I'm playing through is being on the disc in the drive. Would you buy something like Geometry Wars on a disc rather than download it? I never would.

(From what I can see it's also not cheaper but exactly the same price)

So much content this week. Wipeout and Burnout, the only racers I like out on the same day.

Bioshock demo next week btw...

Hmm, a thought struck me. Since Burnout is essentially downloading the same disc content, and not a remastered complete version, could we in theory see something similar to the X360 install to hd option at some point? I wonder if the image being downloaded was recompiled in any way, or if its simply the same image accompanied by a hd mounter of some sort.

Any thoughts?

Ultimately it would be nice to put a TB drive in the PS3 and install all games one is playing and not flip discs. Sure its a stretch because no disc installs are not likely to happen. But I like having both a collection on disc in case I want to let someone borrow a game, or trade or whatnot, but not having to flip discs would also be nice. I wonder if they could have an authentication system where you only need to insert the disc every 7 days. So I could play for a week at a time without changing discs.

Shit, didn't think it was so soon... I just bought NHL 09 a few days ago, now this, then LittleBigPlanet, then the SOCOM headset... fuck.

I was surfing the Criterion boards to get more information about the trophies and their "imminent" release and landed on http://www.ps3trophies.org/. The site updated a short while ago with a full trophy list for BP. I have no clue how reliable that site is, it doesn't even mention a real source, but I thought I would let you know. :I
I personally hope it's fake, just because I hate this sepcific tophy. D:<

I'm not a fan of that trophy myself but I guess I could point the camera at a picture on the wall or something.

I love it. It motivates everyone to connect the damned thing and join in the fun that is watching and making distorted faces (and...other things). :lol

Shame about the price really. It's more expensive than the retail disk and it has no resale value. So much for digital distribution being cheaper. For the publisher maybe, not so much for us consumers.

I really wish they set a date on this. I gave in and bought Burnout Paradise for the 360 a little over a week ago. I would have preferred this version as it's on the hard drive and doesn't require disc swapping.

WTF. The disc is going for a suggested $29.99 price as part of the GH line.

Not only it is the same, exact price as the retail version, the thing is more than worth the $59.99 price tag it once had when it launched in January, even more now with all the additions. You'd be a fool to pass this up.

I sit about 10 feet from the camera, so it always takes a pic of the couch, the wall, and everything around, and I am pretty small on there. But now I rigged it so it points at a papercraft sackboy :D ANd I turn it around when actually needed.

Nah, it's not like I'm too shy to make a pic of myself or anything, it's just that I don't own a usb camera and therefore it would be impossible for me to get 100% (and the platinum trophy obviously). ;_;
