buying a ps4 JUST for bloodborne ??

I did this but in the back of my mind i knew SFV was coming out as well as Persona. Going ahead i expect good exclusives. So if you can get 3 games out of it and feel confident in your future then just get one and enjoy yourself

I'm in this boat too. Have resisted it so far, but if the rumors are true about Sony having a multi-game deal with FROM, there will be at least 2 games, so that will likely push me to do it.

I did buy a Japanese 3DS just to play Theatrhythm DQ, but that was a bit cheaper.

I didn't buy a ps4 just for bloodborne, I knew there would be other games in time. But bloodborne is the game where I was like, "well its time to buy a current Gen console."

Bloodborne is my fav game so far on the new system.

I did this and I don't regret it.
To be fair, though, I knew I was eventually gonna need to get one for Persona 5.
I still barely own any other games for it besides Street fighter V and now Dark Souls 3.

Don't do it. Since you have a powerful PC, you're most probably used to playing in 60 fps and above. Bloodborne is 30 fps with frame pacing problems and it has long loading times.

I bought a PS4 just for Bloodborne, then it turned out there were a bunch more fun exclusives to play. The downside was I don't really like Bloodborne all that much.

The fact that you're considering it means you're probably a pretty big fan of the Souls types of games. I also bought a PS4 primarily to play Bloodborne, but I also knew there would be other games I'd be getting on it eventually. It was completely worth it to me, the game really blew me away but it's hard to say if it'll have the same impact for you. I think you will at least find it to be an experience on par with any of the other Souls games though.

The loading times have long since been fixed.

Justified - Bloodborne is one of the best games ever made. I can't think of a better reason than to buy a console for a game....what else are they made for?

would you consider doing this ? ive got a pretty good deal (290€ 500gb unused + bloodborne) but i have absolutely 0 interest in any ps exclusive out there at this moment

now that might change but right now id buy it just for 1 single game.... already own a capable pc + an xbone with tons of games

I reckon I bought a PS4 on the same date that Bloodborne released. And it was soooo worth it. Only time that one game justified a console purchase.

Well Bloodborne AND Knack actually. Though for the year that I've owned a PS4, the only time it had a blu-ray disc inside that wasn't Bloodborne was literally a few days ago when both Dark Souls III and Ratchet & Clank released.

Bottom line is that I knew that I was gonna love Bloodborne to death. That alone has given value to my PS4 purchase to last a whole year.

No game is worth 290 bucks.

How much was steel batalion? Loved that game would be legit as fuck if that big ass controller had LEDs so that it would be 1 to 1 in psvr. Have the presence of VR with the feel of that cock pit in the switches and sticks.

Edit: It's a great game op it may just be one game but you can bet there will be a sequal or another souls like game from them. Still hoping for demon souls and dark souls 1 ps4. It would be horrible if the whole series isn't pushed into this gen for BC going forward.

Bloodborne is easily worth it if you ask me. But it really depends of your taste.

Do you like Souls games? If you do it's a no brainer.

I pretty much did that last year when it came out. Eventually I found some other titles to go along with it. The Last of Us plus DLC, The Order (ok this one sucked, but at least there were trophies), Driveclub and just last week we got a new Ratchet and Clank game.

PS4 is definitely worth buying if you aren't a PC gamer. Otherwise, don't immediately get it if the exclusives don't appeal to you.

PS4 already has many great exclusives. If Bloodborne alone doesn't justify it, then Uncharted 4 will. The release of The Last Guardian and Persona 5 will push the system into must-buy territory for me. It is worth having now, but I also have no problem waiting some more months for extra game releases and good deals.

Persona 5? Last Guardian? Uncharted 4? Nope?

You could probably resell the package afterward for at least 75% of the initial investment, so you're just paying the difference (plus having that cash in a non-liquid form) to play Bloodbourne. Still probably not a great bargain, but you do you.

That's silly. Bloodborne is just a slightly easier, less fun to find loot version of Dark souls.
Its the same game dude.

BUt yeah you should get a ps4. But not for one game. For VR. Cuz VR gona be good.

Or wait for ps4k.

lol

what a bunch of misinformed nonsense

ignore that post OP

but like others have echoed, no, not for 1 game

though picking up a ps4 for its current library, i cant recommend it enough.

I totally love the game and it's in my personal top 10 BUT I would never suggest buying a system for one game. If you are the type that wants all consoles or see anything else worthwhile, let BB be the reason to make the plunge.

I did it two weeks ago. Got one new on ebay with a limited time 20% off.
The nice surprise was I already owned some psn games on it due to cross buy.

It's worth it for Bloodborne. You can always sell the PS4 when you've finished.
I'm personally hanging onto it for Ratchet and Clank, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Uncharted 4.

Sell the xbone first. No point having a PC, PS4 and an xbone unless you're going to use all the systems.

Otherwise just play the Dark Souls trilogy on PC.

If it's the only game you ever intend to purchase for the system, don't bother. It's good but not *that* good.

Look around and if there are a few more titles that interest you, go for it.

The loading times have long since been fixed.

They still feel fairly long compared to PC Souls loading times, but you're right, they're far less troublesome than at launch.

OP, I was in much the same position as you a year ago (just wanted a PS4 for Bloodborne). It's a solid game, but for me, not worth the full price of a PS4; but I got TLoU Remastered for free with it, which was a nice boon. In your shoes, I would hold off on the purchase and just play DS3 on PC.

OP, if you love gaming. Do it.

Bloodborne brought fun back to gaming for me.

Since it's exclusive you easily can say that this is the best game on PS4 until now. Despite the fact you're able to get some other neat exclusives in the future. Bloodborne in May for example.
Also the mulitplatform titles run better on a PS4.

almost everyone I know who played it loved it, how is it overhyped?

Because not everyone likes punishingly difficult games that have extremely mediocre performance (frame pacing broken? no comment, forever). The character customization is nearly pointless (both cosmetic and physically, MORE WEAPONS!), and the gothic theme is a little too much for me to handle at times. Feels forced.

The reason it is extremely overrated is that it panders a little too much to the "I'm a gamer with skill" crowd by being overly difficult. The game is not a nod to old games, it's a stab in the face instead of effective story telling and fun game mechanics.

It's fun, but far from perfect. And it certainly is not $300 worth of fun.

Let's remember that the OP has both a capable gaming PC and an Xbox One with zero interest in other games.

If I'd bought my PS4 just for Bloodborne I'd have been super disappointed.

I rank it quite far below Demon's Souls and Dark Souls (and from what I've played I'd say Dark 3 is better too).
