Buzzword Alert: "Triple-I"/III Gaming

Darryl

the indie market is becoming so flooded people need to make up buzzwords to separate their games from the rest. kinda depressing

Uh, yeah, some buzzwords are created by "faux-corporate marketing". I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and it is my understanding that someone working for the government involved in either business development or tourism came up with the phrase "the metroplex" to describe the area. I hate the term but it is unfortunately used a lot around here. (Sorry - couldn't think of a more relevant video game example.)

I agree with you but some phrases are created from BS marketing...

I'm waiting for "triple D" myself by the way... ;)
They're the exception, then. Sonic was one of the only corporate-made mascot characters to survive into modern gaming, for example.

indie is a marketing buzzword
it always has been
games are games

This.

It's kind of like when people say they listen to "indie" music.

"Oh, yea? Indie music? What Genre?"

"You know... that indie one! it's so indie!!!"

I listen to plenty of artists on independent labels... but I don't say they are "indie" bands.

I'm waiting for this:
