The PS2 version was superior for the same reasons that the PS2 versions of Madden and Tiger Woods were superior to both thier 360 AND PS3 counterparts.
The next-gen engines weren't ready yet and they need to give themselves room to improve this generation. PES6 on 360 was definitely rushed out the door for release last year too, hence the multitude of online patches.
The 360/PS3 versions will likely be the same feature-wise, but I hear rumours that there will be exclusive six-axis tilting support to tilt the pitch like a pinball machine to get the ball in the net.
