Call of Duty: Ghosts Clans Trailer

Sounds great! That's one thing that I always missed.. and that was Socom 2's old style of room setup and were able to join a clan on clan only game. This is great to finally be able to play against a whole clan of various sizes, rather than get lucky and wind up in a room with 6 other clan guys.

They really are trying to stuff this game to the gills...

I would've been happy with more maps and higher res, but search and rescue/create you're own soldier/cranked mode/dual render scope and Treyarch staying the hell away from MP maps has me excited.

Here's what the PS3 version looked like last year (running at 960x540)

But yeah, LOL last gen...

Game looks like horseshit.

That said I will end up buying it to play with friends, unless BF4 on consoles has the effect I am hoping it will.

Also, the campaign story looks decent.

Am I the only one slightly excited for a new cod? :l

I can't wait !!! I hit Master Prestige about two months ago in BO2 and pretty much played the hell out every single COD game since COD4. I do know that Ghosts seems like a stop gap between current gen & next gen but I don't care, I love the game. So, I guess Treyarch will be the 1st to make a true next gen COD. I personally could never figure out why COD gets so much hate. Why people say COD is for kids and BF is for men. Here is my thoughts on BF series:

This is next gen graphics for console players. Youtube videos are not doing this game justice.

Red Samurai clan tag straight up jacked from The Last of Us.

Pre-ordered so i could i cancel my pre-order.

:LOL dude... speak for yourself. It's the laziest looking "next gen" title i've ever seen and is properly trounced by better efforts on BOTH sides of the console war fence.

COD is just lukewarm garbage these days.

So much money spent on developing a game and then mess up the PC version by not including FOV slider making the game unplayable for a significant portion of PC players.

(confirmed by Mark Rubin last week on Gameinformer podcast)

There has been a huge glut of games bringing new and exciting stuff to the table recently. CoD in particular is extremely stale, every iteration mainly consists of small balance tweaks, new equipment and new maps (and another solo campaign on top of that): I don't see why you think you haven't seen this stuff x times before as compared to the new Battlefield.

Seems more like a downgrade to me (comparing completely different screenshots is a fruitless endeavour):
You must have an EXTREMELY loose definition of "new" and exciting. This gen was pretty much literally perfecting all of the pitfalls of the PS2-GC,Xbox era all in HD.

Yeah.

If you can't tell the difference between the CoDs (which is kind of ironic considering most of GAF proclaims to be graphics whores) you need your eyes checked or you need to actually play the games.

It's really not that difficult.

I'm not saying COD couldn't look better. All I'm saying is it is the best looking COD to date which pleases me. COD is about the gameplay. If I cared about how COD games looked I wouldn't play any of them.

The first time I saw BO2 I thought it looked incredibly cheesy and dated. Even worse than MW3. I don't feel the same about Ghost. I think it looks nice. Nothing special but not awful by any means.

Can't wait, full HD and 60fps is enough for me this year, i will be getting the PS3 and PS4 versions thanks to the upgrade program. COD is the only online multiplayer game i enjoy on a regular basis, fuck the haters.

No. It is not next gen graphics for console players. The resolution is higher, and the texture resolution is higher.

That is not next gen, that is a lazy port.

Call me back when they introduce a new lighting engine, improved shaders, cloth and water physics, bokeh DoF, subsurface scattering, improved particle effects, volumetric smoke, penumbrae shadows, high quality object based motion blur, dynamic weather and ToD, larger scale battles, gameplay limited dynamic destruction, improved lod, tessellated characters and objects (not just scopes), blended animations, etc etc etc etc.

Upping the resolution of the textures and render are not next gen upgrades, those are port upgrades.

More likely, you have a very narrow perspective on what games are available: If you're just playing AAA, and ignoring the much wider gaming landscape (even what of it is available on consoles), this view seems reasonable: But even then, CoD is hardly new and exciting in any way.

You can say the same for every game coming up... next gen isn't justified with that compression. Thank god for websites like Gamersyde.

That begs the question...could a channel actually PAY YT (like way back in the day for longer than 10 mins) for having uncompressed videos?

IW says it's 1080p/60fps on next-gen. We'll know for sure once Digital Foundry gets its hands on the game.

Since it's looking like this is the case, I wonder how many other multi-platform games can say they are 1080p/60fps outside of TitanFall, which looks about the same as Ghosts.

That is true, IW could be claiming 1080p but rendering at a different native resolution and just up-resing... we won't know until someone like DF get's their hands on it.

I definitely agree with your second point, Titanfall looks VERY similar. The first time I saw Titanfall, I was like, wow, it looks like it plays just like COD, fast twitch based controls, 60 FPS and most importantly very low input lag from the controller which is a COD call sign.

have to say I have enjoyed the COD trailers this time around way more than the BF4 ones. This one wasn't bad either.

I'll most likely be picking this up to play with friends. Next year the big dogs over at Treyarch will show them how to truly make a cod game.

To be quite honest I always enjoyed Treyarchs ports of IW games more than their own games. It always seemed like every time they ported an IW game the Wiimote Controls just worked.
That's why I'm excited for Ghost.
Btw, Sony should really put some cash in Activisions pockets to convince them to support the Move. The more pointer/gyro based aiming FPSs the better.

They have more money than God. Their trailers should be very damned good.

That said, though the CoD trailers have more production value, I prefer the BF4 trailers thus far.

You say that based on one screenshot that has no relation to how the game actually looks?

I know. I'm not hating, just saying I didn't know which cod that was of 3 games that I didn't play so I guess I was surprised I couldn't tell (no one of those three stands out). I don't care about graphical fancy-ness.

Still does not explain why you would say "Good thing I skipped it" after seeing that screenshot....

Does that screenshot give you enough information on the game to discredit it?

Really? Both games seem like rehashes of earlier work, Ghosts really doesn't seem to stand out in any way. What's "new and exciting" about this stuff?

Well, to be fair, you are probably right. The only experience I have had with COD is some multiplayer MW3. I have played pretty much every Battlefield game since 1942. The stuff that is new and exciting to me might very well have been included in other COD games.

So, chances are, it's not that Ghosts has any new ground breaking features but I am more or less bored of Battlefield games (as great as they may be).

From just this screenshot you can see that they have DoF, improved lighting, improved shaders and improved textures. COD does not aim for large battles. That is for battlefield to do. Complaining about no large battles in COD is directly complaining about the core of the Call of Duty franchise, small and quick matches. Call of Duty is also aiming for 60fps. To get all of those things you want for next gen you would have to burden yourself by having a choppy experience which is not next gen at all.

It's okay. I can't tell BC2, BF3, and BF4 apart either. I'm not hating. They all look the same.

Ghosts is looking amazing though. Proving to be the game to get when I get my new system.

I've played the BF4 beta today and seeing this now in motion and all.. it looks kind of dull compared to the batshit crazy stuff that is going on in BF4

The cross-platform-feature seems pretty cool though - maybe there'll be a Call Of Duty micro console in the future!

No, you really cant. I have seen every bit of footage there is for CoD ghosts. I have watched all the trailers and all of the events and hour long marketing campaigns.

This game is NOT a generational leap, by any means.

There is no high precision bokeh DoF in that shot, nor high precision OBMB, nor subsurface scattering, nor screen space reflections, nor volumetic smoke, nor a new lighting engine, nor penumbre shadows, nor improved particle effects, nor any of the other things I listed.

There is better render resolution (it is now finally in HD), and textures are crisper (still nothing to write home about).

Character models are low in detail, destruction is static, death animations are horrible, cloth, vegetation, water, etc are all lacking physics etc.

If you told 10 people that was Black Ops II on PC, 9 of them would believe you.

Notice I did not say higher player count? Large scale battles need not effect the gameplay. As someone who has been playing Call of Duty at launch since CoD 1 on PC, there is no reason SP campaign could not of had larger scale battles, skyboxes in multiplayer could be enhanced to make it seem like a larger scale battle is going on. (See Halo Multi)

Stalingrad_Soviets_running_CoD1.jpg

Also, seeing as how Killzone Shadowfall is doing almost all of the things I listed at 60fps 1080p on day one launch makes me think a year or two from now we will see devs doing all of what I said, at 1080p 60fps.

It all boils down to the fact that Activision and "IW" are marketing this as "THE NEXT GENERATION OF CALL OF DUTY!" when really its just a cross gen version of CoD.

I fully expect them to eventually step up their game and make a TRUE next gen CoD game. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

CoD Ghosts, is not it.

You want to know the sad part about his comment... half of what he mentioned is already in the game... improved shaders/lighting/textures are already in, along with tesselated objects and characters (something he obviously missed from the reveal, and also tesselated isn't even the correct term, every 3D object is tesselated) and subsurface scattering (another thing he missed from the reveal) along with improved LOD.

Big scale environments is NOT COD... I don't understand what people don't get... this isn't BF. Same for water physics... why the hell would COD do water physics when they don't do naval warfare?

I'd like to see TOD/Dynamic weather effects though, though I can't recall a game doing this in a FPS MP match. (I know Crysis talks about it but I'm not sure if they actually did it).

At least Cod is 1080p@60fps and hopefully locked in multiplayer.

Tesselation helps a shitload in Ghost case you can clearly see how polystarved things can get in BOps2
