That second 720 means the same thing as 720p.

720p assumes a 16:9 aspect ratio. So 1280x720 would be 720p, the most common minimum bar for "HD resolutions."

If you go by that, Call of Duty Ghosts on Wii U is "sub-HD," but that definition is subject to debate.

Nope, getting the game on another system. I bought BLOPS2 for Wii U when it came out but it became a ghost town within 2 weeks.

I wouldn't doubt that the same thing happens to Ghosts. Plus, Let's face it - people didn't buy the Wii U for it's graphical prowess.

Can Wii U owners answer me this -

Do you care?

Kinda.

I wasn't planning to buy Ghosts for the WiiU (or any other platform), but I thought by now that the few third parties still supporting the WiiU would put a little more effort into the ports.

Can't wait for the games journalists to explain why this version is also just fine and that the differences are barely noticeable.

1080p is 1920x1080 pixels scanned progressively.........

if you could link me to the IEEE standard or whatever, it'd be helpful cheers.

edit: as a note, ive never bought CoD and never plan to. I'm just making sure people stick to clear terms :p

Most Wii U owners on GAF highly praise Off TV Play, a feature that compresses every HD game to a screen with a resolution that is something close to 480p, so no... I highly doubt they care. :p

It's all about pixel density in this case, and the GamePad has a decent pixel density. Stop it, doge.

That probably is supposed to say 1240 x 720, right? 880x720 is like a 4:3 ratio..

You can upscale from odd ratios to a 16:9 target as long as the game considers that during rendering. Some games do that.
